@@TravelGigolo Catch and release?
@TravelGigolo2 жыл бұрын
Tiger, yes catch and release. Bream (tilapia) we would catch to eat.

@@TravelGigolo Well done! I wish more of our anglers would do so particularly the large breeding stock.

I’m stunned that you had services like dish washing, etc… There is nothing like that in the US as far as I know. It’s all DIY. We’ll be doing our last camp trip for the season ourselves soon until it cools down in the autumn. It will get up to 35C+ on this trip, with humidity, and bugs.

The dish washing and fire making is unusual, it's always DIY. We did give the guys a tip when we left too. It was nice, but also kinda weird 😅 A humid 35°C sounds reminiscent of this trip. That's one of the reasons that most people prefer to tour the tropical areas around here in autumn and winter (another being rain). Personally don't mind the heat at all. Just a pity one can't swim in the Zambezi 🐊

There are leopard & lion there too. I was there recently!
@TravelGigolo Жыл бұрын
Wow! Did you see any signs of them? It's within the Hurungwe conservancy, which joins on to Mana Pools National Park.

@@TravelGigolo yes, we were there for 12days & heard lion on several nights. Tracks in the morning revealed that two males got to within about 100m of us at night. Also heard leopard at night a lot. We went on a night drive & must have seen about 5 Civet cats & a couple of Genets as well. There is also a healthy buffalo population & we saw a herd of about 100-150, along with a herd of Waterbuck about 25 strong also a nice group of Eland. We were there in October so the temperature was absolutely cooking but the fishing was great!

That's amazing! We slept soundly, completely unaware 😁 We enjoyed the fishing too. Looking forward to fishing there again early next year.

Have you done any camping right on the Zambezi River?

Do you have information about the ferry service from Matusadona NP over to Kariba?
@TravelGigolo2 жыл бұрын
We didn't use the ferry, but we did ask about it. It was operational. Important to note though that they charge per trip. It reportedly has a three/four vehicle capacity (depending on size), and therefore you may have to pay the full price even if you're only one vehicle. A trailer will count as a vehicle. Unfortunately I don't remember the price.
