Thank you both for another great video - The Nicolas Feuillatte is priced at $55 in Australia and largely sold out, in contrast to Bollinger $ 76 Louis Roederer $70 Taittinger $76 (heavily stocked). Olympic series has been a treat; in particular enjoy when you combine internationally available wines in tastings with cheap, medium and expensive ranges. I've never seen a perfumer do blind smelling where they've been even close or able to distinguish characteristics with any reliability. Seeing you all describe the characters is like watching a physician conducting a history and examination and coming to the Dx 90% of the time, its super impressive ! Bravo Peter and Jae

Hey Wineking and Master! I find these underdog "wine" countries vs traditional videos so much fun. I was wondering if you wanted to do one with hungary, maybe about tokaj or Eger wines? As i have recently discovered those two areas have such a resemblability with some key areas in France. Of course that is my experience with them, and obviously it would be very interesting to see you guys blind test some of these wines, who i experience are dirt cheap looking at their quality and history. A lot of props for the great content, from a new wine enthusiast! :-) Merry christmas btw!

I do like all of them as well. The Feuillatte is such a great buy at 28 USD. By my palate, Taittinger has really cleaned up IMO in recent years. Peter cracked me up saying "You're just having a shit day" hahahah, what confidence. I know that growers Champagne is all the rage now but for me, I'm always a fan of the big houses. The best Champagne's I've ever had are the special cuvees from the big houses.

IMO, there’s some peer factor involved. Meaning your favourite wine may taste less enjoyable when tasting with other wines. To my experience, fuller body wines tend to be under appreciated when drunk next to lighter body wines. Bolli is a fantastic wine, but certainly heavier full of brioche, less acidic than the other wines presented. I think evaluating them independently would have produced different result.

I am a korean man living in Reims, France. "the capital of Champagne"! lol "Nicolas feuillatte brut" is one of my favorite champagne and drink it more often than the others. 4:09 haha sir Imagine, you drink a ice chilled champagne, seeing a enormous field of wine grapes in champagne. my personal best spot is "Hautvillers". I love to drink a flûte of champagne while I see the grand-maisons of champagne and those never ending grape field from the hill in there.

It‘s always a lottery with NV (Non-Vintage) champagne wines if the disgorgement date isn't listed on the back label of the bottle, Sometimes even the "base vintages" (majority of the blend) are now printed on the back labels by some champagne producers. Thanks to these two dates one can identify NV bottles and blends, otherwise you aren't able to compare NV bottlings directly. I suppose you got very good NV examples IF these bottlings were recent shipments from France. 2018, 2019, and 2020 were very good triple vintages in a row, this is very rare in Champagne (2021 on the other hand was terrible again).
@jdwilkins200010 ай бұрын
Great program today, I have enjoyed all these wines at various times over the years. I agree 100% that these (Non-vintage Brut's) are what drive champagne houses fortunes (with the exception of Dom, of course, since they make only vintage champagne) I would very much like to see this same style of comparison between champagne and American Blanc de Noirs.

I visited the champagne region 2 years ago and was given a tour of Champagne Philipponnat by the heir to the house (Francois). They are doing magnificent work. I would highly recommend giving the Royal Reserve Brut NV and blanc de noir a try. Also, had the clos des goisses and it was my favorite ever (although super expensive).

I have recently begun to find Champagne and Californian Mumms Napa and Chandon (both use the traditional method) very frustrating. What I love about Champagne is the yeasty, bread-like character it imparts. But I often find that this characteristic is missing or very muted. Without this flavor profile I find the wine uninteresting. I find it impossible to predict in advance which bottle will have this, and the Champagnes suffer from this lack of consistency just as much as their Californian counterparts.
@stevenreichertart Жыл бұрын
I agree 100% with you. The yeast, bread flavor is something I look for in a champagne. I appreciate the complexity of other notes in the wine, but champagne is a product of yeast, and it should shine through.
