Yay, nice to see Denny again! Thanks for the representation! 👏 But the letter "q" in the Indonesian alphabet is supposed to be read as "ki" and not "kiu" 😁 Julia did a great job considering it was her first time, that 8 is well deserved 👍 We Indonesians would find Spanish and Italian speakers' pronunciation more similar to ours, but Portuguese speakers wouldn't do too badly either, just that they tend to drop the final sound, while in Indonesian we have to pronounce each and every letter (like in Tagalog, which comes from the same language family) 😊 I'm already learning German and Italian, so I enjoyed following the Turkish lesson. I gave up after the first 10 seconds 😂

And a good representative. He can actually communicate in English. The other lady, not so much.
@kilanspeaks3 ай бұрын
@@anthonymc8361 I don’t think Elita is a poor representative just because she isn't as fluent in English as Denny. While she might have struggled with English, she's also proficient in Korean and feels more at ease communicating in it. To me, both Elita and Denny are excellent representatives of Indonesians. No, we’re not an English-speaking nation. Unlike our neighbors in the Philippines or Singapore where English is heavily emphasized, we in Indonesia often approach English as just another foreign language. However, many Indonesians also become proficient in other foreign languages, such as Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, French, or German. This linguistic diversity showcases the unique adaptability and multilingual capabilities of Indonesians. Elita’s strength in Korean and Denny’s fluency in English both highlight the rich tapestry of skills that Indonesians bring to the global stage. It’s this ability to embrace and master multiple languages that makes our representation in international arenas so distinctive and valuable.
@anthonymc83613 ай бұрын
@@kilanspeaks there was this other lady whose name I forget. She speaks perfect English and can speak Korean. In episodes where she was the rep, she gave better and richer explanation. I agree with you, about us not being an English speaking country, etc. But, in cases where you could have invited more fluent reps like Denny and the other girl, but you didn't, it's just bad casting.

As a Filipino working abroad, I usually don't mention that my language is influenced by English and Spanish before starting a conversation. However, I've noticed that this Filipina woman frequently points out that our language has English and Spanish influences. It's not necessary to mention it right away. Let people notice it on their own. Additionally, she often claims that most Filipinos have Spanish ancestry, but that's not really needed because, in truth, the majority of Filipinos are simply Filipinos. Let's all be proud as Filipinos!

The thing with Filipino alphabets; yes we do have 28 letters and we pronounce it as it is. But actually a few of these alphabets were added for purposes. Original Filipino Alphabets: A, B, D, E, G, H, I, K, L, M, N, NG, O, P, R, S, T, U, W, Y Spanish loaned alphabets (for Spanish loaned, and later on English loaned words): C, F, J, Ñ, Q, V, X, Z. And intonation is also important in Tagalog and some Filipino languages. There are words in Tagalog that are the same in spelling but different meanings when the intonation is changed. Example: magkaibigan - magkaibi--gan - friends - magka--ibigan - lovers
