I have the 2015 outlander l 500. I agree the suspension is very soft, especially in the corners. The noise from the clutch in the belt system is annoying (clunking). The creaks and groans go away after you grease it. I have just under 1000 miles on my bike 50% trails other half mixed riding, no deep mud. With all of that said I still love it. My riding buddy bought a 2016 850 he has none of the issues I do.

@noahroy my 570 can am has been in water up to the top of the seat and the exhaust under water. It never stopped running. It's none stock just like my '14 Suzuki 400. Only the winch has broke line on that one because I plow snow with it. This guy is matching a loaded Rubicon to a stock can am. I used to be an asi instructor and road almost every bike and the can am outlander 570 is by far the best all around bike because of the adjustable suspension, power steering, seat comfort, and all around performance. This dude hits trees all the time of course without the bumper it's gonna crack. Maybe ride to your abilities and you'll see why can ams are head and shoulders above all other brands. And every bike will be unstable if you don't know how to ride.

the water I went though wasn't deep at all a stock Honda could have gone through no problem. I did fully water proof everything first snorkeled the gas tank vent, coolant resivore, and WP weep hose. also sealed the belt backing plate and running the xmr belt snorkels up into the pod. that being said water got in the rear diff and CV joints... cause can am boots and diff seals don't keep water out even on a brand new bike. the original seals on my 1985 big red do a better job keeping water out.

Listen man it's a sad day when Honda's top of the line 680 has the same hp as my can am 450. Hondas best against Can ams worst. Plus i don't know if Honda offers a 5 year warranty but yeah can am does. Regardless Honda is more reliable than a wood burning stove I had a 350. But now they just seem outdated.
@MudPuppyOffroad8 жыл бұрын
lol power is no good if the bike doesn't run (like my 2016 with 200 miles) and all can am has is power... that's it. their warranty is a joke can am takes weeks to approve any repairs and they always look for ways to get out if it. also everyone thinks they're getting that 5 year warranty for free but you are paying extra for it I opted not to get it because the dealership told me the stuff I ride in Can-Am will not warranty a single thing on that bike
@MudPuppyOffroad8 жыл бұрын
the advertised power is peak power at the crank which says very little about how fast the bike is... especially with a super inefficient belt drive
@640biker8 жыл бұрын
What happend to your bike that it broke? One thing i really actually do hate on my bike that you didn't hit on is that cheap skid plate that drives me nuts. But other than that i really havent had any issues. I just raced a honda 680 from a dead stop and barley beat him but I did so the inefficent belt drive was good enough for that but i do hate that clunk. I plan on upgrading that when the warranty is done.

i felt the same way about my Polaris Sportsman 570 as you do about the Can Am. Brand new soon as i got it home it was the noisiest thing i ever hear. it clanked, popped, clunked constantly. Drove me insane and i was ready to set it on fire. After the break in period is has improved a lot but its still rather clunky. I wanted a Honda but i just couldn't deal with the golf cart engines they keep putting in them. 28hp on the rubicon 500 is a freaking joke. theres no reason Honda could put out a 40HP 500 and still keep the foot shifter ect. In fact that would be awesome. come on Honda!

Hey Christian, Good to see a TRUE user review on the bikes. Most other reviews are very limited and brand focused as the manufactures are usually sponsors of the show. In any case, I have never been a big fan of the belt drive (CVT) quads. Yes, they are great for speed and just trail cruising. However, nothing beats the manual shift for the technical riding. Put the thing in the gear you want and have at it. Not even a big fan of the Honda DCT and EPS transmission options, as too much to potentially go wrong......and when it does, you usually spend big bucks to get things fixed. Only bikes that I have seen that I like with the CVT is the Yamaha Grizzly or Kodiak. Seems that Yamaha are able to get it right. Only issue I find is that the CVT makes the riding position much wider, almost like riding a horse. Anyway, great videos. Keep up the great information.
@MudPuppyOffroad8 жыл бұрын
that is a good point the riding position is awkwardly wide compared to my other bikes but it is made up for slightly by the nice seat beefy bars and sturdy foot wells.

I love honda, have had them since I was 11 (I'm 4 times that now). Started with xr75, then atc 110, then aero 50 scoooter when I turned 15, 300ex for years (my favorite bike ever). Will defend Honda til I die. I'm older now and need to take my awesome dad with me when I cut wood, but have fun when I trail ride by myself. Was sold on the Pioneer 500 until I test-drove 2 of them (one with 1100 miles, so it was broken in). Honda will have great trail side x sides......someday. Not yet!!!! Test drove the Can am 570 max yesterday. Unbelievable! I don't know what you test drove, but this one was quiet and extremely quick and nimble (with less than one hour on it). I wish honda had a competitor to this 2 person atv. They just flat out don't! If they did, I'd buy it. I have researched, in depth, Can-am reliability and review over the past 5 years. Honda is king of the hill on reliability, and I love 'em, but Can-am is right behind them (and ahead of many of the other Japanese makes on most models) and far more innovative. Hate it, but it's the simple truth.

I didn't like the Rubicon's DCT Trans. It always jerked from one gear to the other but, of course I could manually shift it but that's not why I got it in the first place. It was a smooth ride but the Cam Am's V-twin is way better. I know the Honda will last longer but over all, I'm really liking the Outlander.

While I appreciate your real honesty and great review, some folks just don't learn unless they feel the burn. Can am is all hype, smoke n mirrors. Its sad that some believe the magic is real and buy themselves a very expensive lesson. Hopefully at that point, they'll actually open their eyes and ears and learn from their mistake! I've been riding atv's for 34 years, I've seen them all. Honda is the best in the atv market, after that you still have 3 great companies that make good quality product. Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki. These companies are the real deal, the contenders. They have years of experience and believe in a quality product that is backed by the name stamped on the ATV! Next we have the pretenders, the likes of Can am, Polaris, Arctic cat and countless others who are interested in nothing more than getting your hard earned dollar with no intention of selling you a quality product or backing it up, they just want your money and you get a POS! Sadly these companies are NOT interested in quality or their own product. As long as its loaded with bells and whistles (distractions to take your focus off of poor quality) and runs long enough to get it out the door, they simply don't care , all they want is your money!

Mud Puppy I used atvrider.com for reference but I see now that 7.5 is incorrect. I disagree with you in just about everything in the video. The Can am is better in every way than the honda except fuel consumption and reliability, the Can am has better steering and throttle response, the can am smokes the Honda in the mud even with its lack of a front locker. For trails you can comfortably use the can am vs the Honda feels like it's going to buck you off with its terrible suspension. Cornering isn't even fair to compare the outlander is just so far ahead.The can am does have a clunky and poppy belt and it does go through belts often. If you are looking to do everything better and faster get the can am, if you don't care about performance get the Honda.

Don’t get me wrong, the Honda is and will always be more reliable than the Can-Am, but the Can-Am is doesn’t even come close to being shit as a bike, especially when Polaris still makes fourwheelers. I’ve had the 450 for about a year and a half now and it hasn’t given me any problems aside from the overheating, which is mainly due to the idiotic placement of the radiator and the computer running the quad lean, not the machine’s quality. The CVT noise can be drastically reduced after a couple clutch cleanings, but overall it’s just a CVT thing. The bad is pretty apparent, but also pretty minor as the common upgrades get rid of it. The stock tires are shit, the front differential isn’t locking from the factory, the front struts can be compressed by a baby, and the low end power could be much better.

+Ýøûñğ Błøøđ Honda 700 pioneer? You're either talking about a Rincon 680 or a pioneer 700 both of which are 15 year old designs geared super high for trail riding. That 450 doesn't hold a candle to the Rubicon IRS

Thanks for the heads up I was looking at this the Honda Foreman and this is zukey King Quad 500. You have backup but I've read a lot. That this and the Polaris are probably not worth your hard-earned money especially when it comes to reliability

@Driftuner6 жыл бұрын
Even though i prefer the Rubicon, i have some experience with these Outlanders, and i have to say they are not nearly as bad as you make it sound. Maybe they are not very good for your personal application or riding style, but man ive put some miles on a 450 and it was NOTHING but joy. I would probably still buy the Honda, but i have to say the CanAm surprised and impressed me. For the record: i rode a 450L Max and an 800XT Max. Oh and btw: i dont get the whole visco-hate, cuz that thing locked up on ANY situation more than fast enough to get me through everything i threw at it, consider i climbed a 4200m high mexican volcano all the way to the top on a RENTAL 450L Max with 5000miles on it. Cheers bud.

And they're are expensive mostly being for the reason they are very good quality, trust me.... Everybody has there opinions but mine is a 5 star opinion....

@@wazzup2987 actually, the can ams are about the same or cost less then any of the big 4/5 if you count artic cat. And have more technology in the suspension, front locker and power steering, then the rest. Plus ask anyone that's ridden all of them and the can ams are more comfortable to ride all day.

I don’t truly agree with this review on the can am commander although the suspension is pretty soft can am is a Canadian company it is great in corners I’ve not had any problems In The few days I’ve had it it tends to cut off when setting for a minute in gear. Great high and low end tourq although is very good for speed and comfort even on a higher rep company like Polaris their sportsman line up demands more maintenance can am you can get up and go the can am is a more sporty utility/recreational quad. Still no complaints on my part I see no problems in the squealing it is not from the belts or even the trans or drive terrain it is simply the engine brake constantly engaging this is the machine trying to correct and help if you were to suddenly take a hit or let off the gas can am is a great company they are constantly improving soon they could have as big a name as Polaris Honda Suzuki the true four wheelers and side by sides you should be worried about is the the off brand or newer companies like cf moto they have constant complaints they might have did lock and all wheel but they are not as good as can am I’ve went everywhere a side by side has went and with a 450cc can am outlander with only 5hrs on it that’s good enough for me and it’s good enough for a lot of other people to sure people disagree but still I don’t really give a crap sure Polaris has all wheel drive that is highly rated by all riders while can am has repeatedly out preformed the Polaris on many occasions the Honda and Suzuki also I get you have your opinion and I have mine it’s just fact that can am is definitely newer to the recreational part of the community but they are growing fast and plus that’s the base model of corse it will have thinner cheaper materials and options that is all I’ll say on the subject of this can am is still growing
@dankruger28907 жыл бұрын
ya I do agree that can am's aren't designed very good and cheep out with parts. Honda makes the best in every departments when it comes to reliability, but they need more hp and not just a little hp.

Honda doesn’t have any “mud models” or “good looking models” with fox shocks. Can am has xmr or xc models. Honda has a power steering model with irs which comes standard on can am. @MudPuppyOffroad8 жыл бұрын
what would you say if I told you that CVT stood for continuously variable transmission... Mind blown
@22haydo8 жыл бұрын
+Mud Puppy continuously variable. Doesn't shift. we've got a 450L and then I've got a 1000 and I've never felt them "shift" they hit their RPMs when they get more of their power but every bike has that. Their ground clearance is fine. Can am states it with their shocks and springs cranked all the way up so it is kind of a lie. The noises besides the clutch are just the bushings,bearings, etc being broken in from the heat, the clutches only make noise when they disengage and engage besides a little whining noise but every can am has had that. That's just how they run. Idk where you got your L from but I found a 570 for $1200 cheaper than you stated and it comes with a 5 year warranty. The front bumper is an add on. The L is a stripped bike in a sense the took all the goodies off and left it standards only. It's got a auto locking differential. It takes so many rotations for the diff to lock it in though.
