Description English / Français
The Chinese have always appreciated ivory sculptures as well as ivory jewellery that only the upper bourgeoisie could buy. In traditional Chinese medicine, ivory is used from time to time. The significant development of this country has enabled a larger proportion of the population to buy ivory objects.
African people living in forest areas have always eaten small game caught by trapping. As the population is now concentrated in large cities, it have switched to imported frozen meat (beef/sheep/chicken), cheaper than poached game, although many people enjoy " Bush meat ".
To ensure its economic development, China has significant needs in raw materials and therefore many Chinese companies have established themselves in Africa to extract minerals and exploit wood.
The important demand for ivory, the very important presence of Chinese-people in the forests of Central Africa, some poachers have switched from small game to elephant and its tusks: a more profitable trapping opportunity!
They set snares (nooses) made of wire or steel cables that penetrate deep into the animal's flesh, desperately trying to free themselves. Some elephants succeed but unfortunately the snare and parts of the cable remain tighten around a leg or trunk whose part under the snare is no longer supplied with blood.
The tip of the trunk finally drops off. This appendage is equipped with two fingers (one in Asian elephants) allowing:
- to pull out clumps of grass, shake them all the sand off and put them in his mouth.
- to remove the leaves from the branches with a precise gesture and place the young leaves in its mouth
- to pick up fruits that has fallen on the ground or on fruit trees and send it into his mouth
This trunk also allows him to suck water from the rivers and discharge it into his mouth.
How did this old elephant without a trunk tip could survive?
- drinking water with his mouth in deeper creeks?
- tearing off with his lips the vegetation in front of his mouth or the vegetation on the ground by kneeling on his front legs?
In Gabon, where a large number of elephants have been killed in recent years, the Agence Nationale des Parcs Nationaux (ANPN) has dismantled many ivory trafficking networks, the largest of which, during this recent Nzok operation (= elephant), is expected to increase the maximum sentence for ivory trafficking (actually 6 months).
Watch my videos of elephants that managed to destroy the wire snare without keeping a noose around their feet. Thanks to their extensive knowledge of how to care for their deep wounds, they were able to heal.

At the end of 2020, he still triggers our photo traps.

*Our passion is overwhelming and somewhat dangerous. As you may have noticed my wife and I don't sit confortably in our armchairs at home, **_as some youtubeurs,_** to publish, pieces of videos copied from the Internet, but we do maintain and clean our mirrors and numerous cameras traps, changing their SDs, batteries, cleaning their lens, removing branches that have fallen into their field of vision, walking up marigot beds to find zones of crossing of animals to set new traps there and so on... Drenched by tornadoes, the body covered with insect bites of all kinds (horseflies, gorilla flies, tsetse, black ants, magnan ants etc.) and unfortunately the number of cameras refusing to work increases due to the 95% humidity. Then we do the editing of the videos and write a long description in English which is not our native language (french) and then put them online to show the beauty of Gabonese fauna, talk about poachers, about wild animals reactions front of their reflection, show how elephants that have managed to escape from a snare trap heal the deep cut made by the trap, show how elephants pick mangoes, self recognition in mirrors that is not innate both among humans than among primates and other mammals and so on... and answer to numerous comments posted on my channel* *Camera trapping and then posting the results on the Internet, is our choice...* *Copying on the Internet and then posting the results on the Internet, is their choice!* Watch more than 180 of my homemade videos posted on my channel *but don't copy them!* kzbin.infovideos and read the description attached to each of them. You will find very interesting information about the reactions of the animals in front of my mirrors in the gabonese jungle: Good vision!

@XHB06400CANNES I don't think you understand that somebody using 3 seconds of your video in a transformative way is covered under fair use. He didn't copy you, and he's not a lazy armchair youtuber as you put it. I guess we shouldn't expect any less from the French though. You're a horrible example of your country.

Why? I'm sure that's easy to say living thousands of miles away from elephants and the dangers they bring. I'm assuming your American. I guarantee you would feel different if you had to live under the threat of these things raiding your village or crops. If you had a family to feed and had very little in life you would protect those crops with everything you got especially these enourmous eating machinrs which can do lots of damage leaving your family hungry. It's important to see a problem from all sides

My dear friend, hello friends of this channel. For sure he will remember what happend every day. See, I did cut myself and disconnected one of my left thumb nerves. I still can feel 2/3 of it’s finger but still. Our elephant is forced to be creative. It’s imaginable that his comrades help him to solve the issue. Or maybe he always gets on his knee. Wich is a struggle the older he gets. But still he is alive and enjoy s his life. The queen not. But 96 is not bad at all.

Hello Jimmy! Please watch this video with one of them at work !*In the remote area where I planted my mirrors with an average of five cameras in front of each other and 80 trap cameras outside the area around the mirrors for nearly 11 years, I have noticed a significant increase in the number of leopards and their size. Why?* Because small game is more important and thus makes it possible to feed a larger number of leopards. Why is small game more important? Why has the gorilla family become larger? Why are chimpanzee groups more important? Why do red river hogs (bushpig) troops exceed fifty individuals? The poachers of this game avoid this region for fear of being photographed by my cameras : Watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHrShoBmi9OMpMk Good vision! Thank you again.

@@cloverdunn2951 there's bears around where I live. Have had bears do damage trying to get in my garage to reach the garbage cans, and harass my dogs but I wouldn't kill one unless a human was in direct danger of being harmed... We also have had lot of rattlesnakes around in the past ( and I mean a LOT ) but I've never killed one because of its nature, or that maybe one might bight a person. I also wouldn't consider a person who defends their family against any animal a "poacher" ... I am saying poachers are those who hunt illegally for profit.. Those who would hunt illegally. Snares are almost always an illegal device, and cruel beyond belief. I realize there are many who suffer poverty in the world and that really sucks but if we get rid of the laws that protect certain species and just let humans have at them as much as they'd like, then hell, all the elephants would already be gone by now, along with thousands even tens of thousands of other species. Actually, by now there would probably only be humans and nothing left wild any bigger than a rat. So I believe we have to protect the other animals, particularly endangered species such as elephants at all costs.... Poachers, like human traffickers, are the worst scum of the planet.

Can a poacher survive, rather, live a fulfilled life w/ half e penis? I asj cos that's what I'd do to that poacher who miamed this beautiful animal in this way! I depise poachers and doubly so for the ones who don't finish the 'job' and leave an animal to forage and try to surive in a manner such as this!! Despicable!

Some follower made a comment replying to my last comment for you This is a copy of his comment 😅 : Clover Dunn : Makyhs Makyhs ? I'm sure that's easy to say living thousands of miles away from elephants and the dangers they bring. I'm assuming your American. I guarantee you would feel different if you had to live under the threat of these things raiding your village or crops. If you had a family to feed and had very little in life you would protect those crops with everything you got especially these enourmous eating machinrs which can do lots of damage leaving your family hungry. It's important to see a problem from all sides.

*_Your comment is a great moral booster after reading comments calling for the dismantling of these cruel mirrors!_* *Your feedback on my channel encourages us to pursue our overwhelming and somewhat dangerous passion. It is a great reward for my wife Anne-Marie, my friend Michel and me. As you may have noticed we are not comfortably sitting in our armchairs, to publish without any description, pieces of videos copied from the Internet and put end to end. But we maintain our mirrors and numerous cameras traps, to change the SD, batteries, to clean the objectives, to remove the fallen branches in their field of vision, to go up on foot the bed of the marigots to find zones of crossing of animals to install new traps there etc... Drenched by tornadoes, the body covered with insect bites of all kinds (horseflies, gorilla flies, tsetse, black ants, magnan ants etc.) and unfortunately the number of cameras refusing to work increases because of the humidity rate of 95%. Then we do the editing of the videos and write a long description in English which is not our native language (french) and then put them online to show the beauty of Gabonese fauna, talk about poachers, show how elephants who have managed to get away from a wire snare trap, treat the deep cut made by this trap, show how elephants pick mangos, self recognition in mirrors that is not innate both among humans than among primates and other mammals and so on... and answer to numerous comments posted on my channel* It's a choice.. Watch more of my 180 videos published on my channel kzbin.infovideos and read the description attached to each of them. You will find very interesting information about the reactions of the animals in front of my mirrors in the gabonese jungle: Good vision! *May I suggest you some of my homemade-made videos from my channel which have never been recommended by KZbin and which unfortunately have a very small number of views even though they are very instructive such as:* First mud bath of an cute new born elephant with her mom and aunts: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKHNYomcoLN9iZY Fresh Water from Creeks triggers the urge to urinate in wild mammals: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ep3YenSvbNBjopo Can an elephant survive without half of its trunk lost in a poacher's wire snare? kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6CcmIqfbdWNp6c Before buying ivory jewellery or carved ivory objects: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJPYhZ1tpbOpfq8 and unfortunately there are many others in this case! *After reading numerous comments calling for the dismantling of these cruel mirrors,* I have no desire to try such an experiment just to publish a video in order to amuse some Internet users and risk causing animals to be traumatized and may be my mirrors to be broken. Watch more of my 180 homemade videos published on my channel kzbin.infovideos and read the description attached to each of them. You will find very interesting information about the reactions of the animals in front of my mirrors in the gabonese jungle: Good vision!
