The IR-18 Indycar is put up against the Red
Bull Racing RB20 at the Nürburgring, Nordschleife.
With Hybrid engines on the horizon for the Indycar series, they may be capable of pushing 1000HP. In this video we'll simluate what Indycar would need to achieve 1000HP on the current engine platform with advancements such as increased engine displacement, methanol fuel, turbos and more.

Honestly the Indy car held its down considering f1 takes 200mil to develop and they take 500k to 5 mil

That is different though, each team has their own f1 car which takes MUUUCH more development and testing time because they’re all unique and teams want to make sure they’re the fastest while an indycar is a spec car and thus doesn’t require as much development or testing or anything like that, completely uncomparable, if each indycar team had to design, develop and test their own indycars each season and then upgrade them throughout the season then the cost would likely be much closer to f1.

Good race...until you let the RB pass in the last few corners...you clearly gave him room to do down the inside on the corner...the indicar woudlve won with the defensive driving style especially coz it's quicker down the straights

IndyCars race on some of the bumpiest and uneven road surfaces at street circuits; the Ring is very bumpy, and I feel in real life, the F1 car would struggle a lot more with the bumps than the IndyCar, and it would not be as competitive as it was here. Still, hope IndyCar gets back to the 90s glory days of +1000hp

An unrestricted Aerokit IndyCar probably could, especially if those holes cut into the floor prior to the 2015 season (which were cut to reduce downforce for safety reasons) could be filled back in (raising downforce from the 6500-7000 lb range to potentially OVER 9000 POUNDS AT 200 MPH). Combine this with an over 1000 bhp unrestricted engine and the speed is TERRIFYING, as in we’re looking at a car that would be able to lap the Nordschleife in well under 5 minutes and achieve 400 km/h on the straightaways at Monza and La Sarthe!!!

Bill. You can't loose that much time in 3 corners with no mistakes. That overtake by the f1 was staged. The Indy car would have flogged it down the straight.

Indycar hybrid plus 200 hp = 950 hp and future is 1000 hp. Indianapolis 500 up to 400 mph. F1 will not be faster in future.

The hybrid is going to be slowing the cars down, more weight while getting rid of push to pass (the hybrid will replace it).

Humans wouldn't be able to go that fast at Indy, even if the car was capable of it. G forces would be so severe they would go unconscious.

@@gregrowe1168 That's just bullocks. Right now in qualy they go 4G tops. In F1 the drivers get up to 6.5G and nothing happens because of that.

@@ErwinLiszkowicz But to go at 400 mph, I just don't think it would ever be possible on any oval. They're on the ragged edge now going at about 240 mph on the straights. No way you could go much faster at Indy even if the cars had twice the hp.

I don’t see anything higher than 255 happening in the future of Indy
