It pains me to see that two nations which were once friends hate each other now. I personally have no issues with Azerbaijani people and would love for our countries to once again be at peace with each other. Let’s put aside history and live in the present. I am Armenian, and I want nothing but peace with Azerbaijan and Turkey and all other countries. All the politicians who we vote for, lie to us! They tell us that they will bring success, glory and wealth to our countries - but at what costs? Deaths of their own people and their supposed 'enemies'. I believe there should be no segregation between all of us. We can all live together, co-operate together and be happy together. In my opinion, we do not need our leaders to be friends or want to co-operate. They can keep fighting for as long as they want - they manipulate their own people by deluding them - and therefore, they trick us into doing the supposedly 'good' thing. I will show you what a real perspective is. I had recently met this girl from Azerbaijan, we had a mutual friend and we started talking, and once the conversation got to the: "Where are you from?" and all that. Once she found out I was from Armenia, her first response was: "So that means we are enemies?". And that is what I hate about politics because this poor young teenage girl, was brainwashed. And this is done in both countries - which kills me. And another time, I had a young guy from Azerbaijan study in the same school as I did (the school was in England). He was 3 years younger than I was. His first response to finding out that I was Armenian was fascinating as he had the same intention of not bringing politics into our conversation. Then I told him that both countries had done terrible things, but it is in the past, and at present, I have no intention of repeating those mistakes and also we have a future that we need to strive towards together. He was a wonderful kid - he was always so respectful to me, and when I was running for the position of high responsibility within the school, he supported me a lot. And eventually, his family had issues with the school, and when they came to school to sort it out, I had offered my help, as they could not communicate in English very well, and I could speak to them in Russian. They were also incredibly respective to me and were so lovely and I had so much joy helping them out. I also shared with them that my parents were born and raised in Baku when we lived in peace, and they apologised for everything that happened - although they did nothing wrong. And I apologised back to them for what my country had done to theirs, and it was a beautiful moment that I will never forget. And this is exactly the sort of spirit that I want to develop in all communities - people who are opened for dialogue shall be friends with each other, without expecting anything back - just pure love and unconditional respect, just because our ancestors screwed up it doesn't mean we have to live with this and do nothing. We shall be better than them - we must swallow our nationalist and greedy egos and stand together against all hate. We do not need to have a fresh start and we do not even need to erase our past mistakes. We need to learn from them and just be better. We need to remember that this world has room for absolutely everyone. We just lost our ways and we forgot how it all was a long time ago. That is why we have to co-operate and make wonderful things. This will only become possible when both Armenians and Azeris can look at themselves critically. When Azeris can look at the pogroms in Sumgait and Baku and denounce it. And when Armenians can look at the pogroms in Khojaly and Garadaghly and denounce it. Humanity is important. And when both sides choose humanity of chauvinistic nonsense, that is when peace can come. Right now unfortunately, both sides seem brainwashed by state-funded nationalistic bullshit that makes it impossible for critical minds to come to power. The moment you dare to criticise your own side, you are immediately labelled an Armenian/Azeri spy, traitor, etc. That is unhealthy and makes sure the conflict continues. And the elites in both countries want the conflict to continue, because that way they can continue stealing from common people, as they have done since the breakup of the USSR.

Vano Sasuntsi comparing the time of when Armenian chruch was built with an azeri mosque isnt a good example. That is like comparing a mosque built in Nabulus in Palestine with a Samaritan Synogogue, yes sure the synogogue came first because it is an older religion but doesnt change the fact Muslim inhabitants of Nablus were Samaritan who eventually convert to Islam, which is evident from their history, name and tribal affiliation. Don Stoyva Azeri's are the resut of the Seljuk Turks assimilation with Iranians, most likely the descendants of the ancient Atropatenians. So they are a Turkish-Iranian hybrid, who today speak Turkish and consider themselves ethnic Turks. So they have no claims to these lands.

Armenians didn't have problems with them because Azerbaijan didn't exist before 1900's, and anyone that tells you otherwise is doing mental gymnastics. But there were lots of problems both during the Russian empire and in the USSR. The reason it took off in such a crazy way in 1988 was because Gorbachev allowed peaceful demonstrations and protests to seem more liberal, this created an opening for a conflict that has existed for a long time. It wasn't just due to Stalin "giving" them Karabakh. There was no problems in the Russian empire because neither countries existed and had official governments, no one would question any territory because they had none. That's why the moment the Russian empire left the Caucasus all hell broke loose.

The Armenians, bottom line are stuck in the situation they are today because of a long history stemming into the 19th century of their affiliations with Early Bolsheviks and Russians for their idea of expansion and supremacy based on exerting their influence through the Orthodox Church. Let me sum it all up without opinion. Basically both people are generally against each other and peace. Though, idealists are much more in Armenia than Azerbaijan, which is a good thing to prevent culture and nation, bad thing for peace. War began because of 2 things: (some may change the priority) 1) Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh wanted independence 2) Armenians were attacked in Karabakh, and other places of Azerbaijan But Armenia invaded more than Lachin corridor+Nagorno Karabakh (where majority was Armenian and where Armenians wanted to be independent) and departed every single Azerbaijani from their home in Karabakh. Now a lot of them bring up the argument of Armenians living there thousands of years, which justifies them departing 300 thousand people from Karabakh and 400 thousand people from Armenia. Both parties deny other people's sufferings. Be it massacres, pogroms. Every discussion of us goes in two ways: Either we hate each other completely, or we don't care about anything. There is very little room for compromise. Armenia's solution for the conflict: Azerbaijan must give us Karabakh de-jure, then we will be okay. Azerbaijan's solution for conflict: Armenia must give us Karbakh de-facto, then we will be okay. Room for compromise: None Now I'm Azerbaijani and after this is my opinion: I think we have very little chance of getting the area back. Even if we do, we have to pay for Armenians who live in very poor conditions there which is not favorable as we were completely departed from the region. We can't deport Armenians who departed us, we can't hurt innocent people as they did. It is not matter of morality, but more of an obligation put onto us by other nations. Many Azerbaijanis would gladly deport every Armenian who took place of theirs in regions other than Nagorno-Karabakh's regions. But Armenians also have very little chance of getting a de-jure recognition and peace. They were aggressors and no historical argument can change fact of aggression, invasion. I think only hope for us to make next generations less nationalistic and more educated. They can reach a compromise. It might be something like this: Nagorno Karabakh is autonomus republic with ties to Armenia ( Autonomity is the biggest factor, they can't be puppet state like they are today), other regions in the area go back to Azerbaijan and people either accept Azerbaijan nationality, or go to Nagorno Karabakh/Armenia. Armenia has a bigger obstacle in their way:CSOT. Without getting out of there, there will be little to no help of educated and less nationalistic people. Way currently things are going on, I don't think it will be solved soon. Nobody is making a move. Both nations, with their most brilliant people are downright racists, fascists, bigots, ultra-nationalists. Armenia is doing idealistically worse, because peace suits them more right now, as whole Karabakh in their hands. They can't get their hands to manipulate people in Azerbaijan, so they are just making Armenians more nationalistic to defend status-quo. Armenians will keep status-quo more and more. Longer the better. Azerbaijanis are more aggressive, as they want to get back to the lands they once lived and have their homeland back, world recognizes their right, but they can't change anything with Armenians. Armenians don't want to change a thing, they are happy as they are. Specially about KZbin community: Armenians here are very active, much more aggressive and write like they have no other job to do :D. There are same guys who write under every video with name of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, even sometimes muslims. These guys have been writing these comments under every video since 7-9 years, constantly replying new comments in the same videos. Attack Helicopter, Vano Sasuntsi, A A (their channel names changed) are the ones I can currently remember but there are much more. These same guys write either nonsense long articles as it changes anything, or they just swear nonstop the moment they even smell I'm Azerbaijani. I'm sure one them will spot my comment eventually lol. Guys, I really don't have as much spare time as you do to write nonstop to every video and all of us know it won't lead to anything. If you really want to solve the problem, let's talk about something real. Both of us have great potential to be friendly and happy countries. Deep cultural ties: checked. Long years of historical neighborhood: checked. Common main enemy other than each other: checked. I can make list longer but you get the point. We all are humans, none of us is inferior of superior. History is not very correct, even if everything is in your favor, that still won't give you right to have people deported. I really try to contact Armenians who want to compromise, but nobody answered me yet. All I hear is swears and ultra-nationalism of them.

What our agreement will change if we won't change anything? Generations will grow with hate, war, suffering. We have to work really hard to change their minds. Why do we only have a normal life and connections when we are abroad? I think we should have an organization of like-minded people who work harder than politicians who are creating the problem. I know it seems far-fetched, but that's the best way I can think of. We may understand the problem but we have the luxury of not interfering which imho, we have used too much.

The really sad part is Armenians & Azeris are much closer than both sides would like to accept We have much in common culturally, and I think genetic research has actually proven that we are more alike than different Invading nomadic Turkic tribes did much damage, most Azeris are in fact Turkfied over a 300 year period after Ottoman invasion of parts of Persia including Tabriz. I am from Iran also, and Armenian and in parts of Iran teher are still I believe villages that speak the original Azeri language which is an Iranian dialect, like Kurdish which is also and Iranain dialect Ottoman Turks were very smart and able manipulate the people they occuppied, in Turkey there are Muslim Greeks, Armenians & Georgians who still speak their old languages. Unfortunatley Azerbaijan has chosen a path of misinformation for theor people, and they consider Turkey their brother nation, but in fact its Iran that should be their brother nation..

Kazaztsi dont spread lies, in ottoman turkey greeks are never pressured to change their religion. In fact, the largest minority in ottoman turkey are christian greeks. Do google it yourself. Nobody is forced to accept any religion in ottoman turkey. Even in present day Turkey there are greeks that kept their original greek writing and traditions and has never brainwashed to change religion. Even the modern turkish people you think is 100%european have a mixture of middle eastern blood in them, which present day greeks do not have. Kharabakh should just have a referendum and see what the people living there want to do... Oh wait they already did, 99.98% of the region wanted to become independent from Azeribaijan sadly people don't have the right to live where they want, guns from foreign powers decide. The numbers I used were from 1991, if there is any compromise, they should first ask the people living in the region what they want. Countries have made the same mistake in the past (drawing up the Sykes-Picot treaty and the mess in Pakistan vs India) whoever decides what happens in the region CANNOT make the same mistake now. ASK THE PEOPLE! How dare Aliyev want to ruin the peaceful people living in Artsakh right now!

I just think that is only fair for the people that live in the region to decide if who would govern them. I guess Azeris wouldn’t know much about democracy. The Aliyev family have ruled Azeribaijan for the past 20 years. Is that democratic?

Kenan Ali Also, please don’t complain about Azeris having to leave Artsakh. In Baku and Sumgait over 400 thousand Armenians were deported and thousands were killed during the 1990s.
