So people say... I've never seen anyone play it. I've seen some of the boxes collecting dust in a few hobby shops over the years.

ya i hear this a lot. i think 40k is GWs best game ever, and arguably the best game from any company. based on popularity.

@@WarHammerMan Based on popularity best movie of last years was Red Notice. 40k is a juggernaut it is DESPITE game rules, not thanks to it.

Coming back after 10 years. Just cant escape the excitement of a new movie and tie in box set. Also a healthy local scene where I am. Very excited

thats awesome, welcome back to the hobby! i only recently heard about the new movie, and i'm def excited as well! glad to hear you're coming back into a healthy scene, keep me updated on the new edition, as you all have a crack at it! cheers

@@WarHammerMan it's a bit bittersweet as Legion has totally died here in Ireland, and I'd put lots of time and money into it. Kept all my LOTR over the last 23 years thankfully. Feels like a lifeline now

I was excited about this one - but where are the riders?

As someone who came into the game with the last Osgiliath box set, I'm definitely getting this box. The new troops and heroes look great to me, and I have use for everything in it, so value is good by GW standards. Eventually I'll round out the Rohan and Dunlendings armies with a mixture of GW models and 3D prints, which is what I've done with my Mordor and Minas Tirith armies. But I'm in the market for new armies and GW has given me an easy answer haha!

Fw resin is easy less building then plastic kits, especially the newer kits go together so well not like old heresy kits.
@WarHammerManАй бұрын
ya the new stuff is better. i just dont like resin, its very fragile, and still requires cleaning, and additional prep, so its about the same time and effort. its also more expensive, so its all downside in my opinion, to a nice plastic kit. i also enjoy the building process though, so thats def a factor.
@rokassanАй бұрын
I get all of my LOTR from the Chinese and Eastern European sites. Waaaay cheaper and good quality. They have all of the miniatures unlike the GW website as well. So if I decide to move on from the current edition I’ll just need books. Although the fact they have eliminated many units and hero’s, I may just stick with the previous edition. I thought it was good. Not really sure how much better they can make it.
@AleBanjoАй бұрын
Hey where do you find out the prices? I am a viewer from the UK but you only give the US and Canadian prices. I can't convert the dollar amount into pounds because Games Workshop is a bit cheaper here in England than in America on account of now trasportation or tarrifs, and my only other option is to wait for the pre-order date to see the price on the website.
@welcomethrillho9724Ай бұрын
I think it’s supposed to be £140 for us in the UK. Funny because I imagine a good amount of that price in the scenery houses.
@WarHammerManАй бұрын
GW sends out the prices to all the FLGs on sunday night. so you can call your local FLG to get the prices in GBP. i would post them if i had them, but GW sends out only the regional price list, so i only get North American Prices. cheers
@ShadowPhoenixMaximusАй бұрын
The models look great (although I would personally remove the skull cap from Wulf's mount, as it is a bit cheesy). As for the game itself, i'll wait until the rulebooks are released. I like building armies and whilst I aware that the new rules will be more restrictive, i'm not sure how far that extents towards taking allied units (like mix and matching lists from both LOTR and the Hobbit).
@maximvancauwenbergh2484Ай бұрын
How do u already know how much they cost??

GW sends out the prices to FLGs, so i do a price video every monday, to keep everyone in the know.

For me as a PC gamer coming to tabletop it's kinda insane how ppl are like "yup, gonna buy that rulebook for the equivalent price of a full game that cost millions of dollars to develop to be able to play my miniatures that I also payed lots of premium for".
@slimabobАй бұрын
While you're not wrong that these games have a high upfront cost, it helps to look at it from the perspective of money : time (similar to video games). The rulebooks are (supposed) to last for a few years, and assuming you're playing even just every so often that's not so bad. Miniatures are becoming more expensive, but as long as you don't drop the game those are things that will stay with you forever (3d printing is still an awesome way to supplement your forces though). It's a hobby that is expensive to get into, but I think isn't that bad over time as long as you aren't impulse buying or meta chasing. Definitely can be a bit of a culture shock though!

lol dude, its been dead. not sure why you are triggered by reality, but aside from a few small pockets of players around the world, its literally been dying for a decade... but dont take my word for it, just look at the sales numbers, its been in Desperate need of revival, even if you're in denial...
@Enigmatus23Ай бұрын
@@WarHammerMan you don’t even have access to sales figures mate, the vast majority of the middle earth line is sold via GW and they do not release specific metrics. The game since its relaunch in 2018 has become incredibly popular the GBHL for example a UK tournament scene is massive. So no your just talking shit
@anonsenpai6533Ай бұрын
Based on GW's own pricing, the contents of the Starter are over $400. $52 x 4 for the 2 sets of 24 Warriors and 2 Rohan houses = $208 $35 x 4 for the 4 characters = $140 $58 for the rulebook. Not even gonna count the dice and fold out playing mat, and that's $406 worth of content if you were to buy it all at full MSRP individually. That's pretty standard for modern GW Starter Sets.
@stormy7722Ай бұрын
thats expensive for sure. You know who has these guys beat? The dudes that make Bolt Action. Their sets average $7 per figure and their quality is nowhere near GW.
