As-Salaam-Alaikum Allah lead me to Islam and I am so touched about how no one or prophet or anything is worthy of worship except Allah, I am touched about the morals, and I am touched about donating 2.5 percent of one's income to orphans and homeless. Islam is a true blessing and I am joyful I said my Shahada a couple days ago and I'm now enrolled in a program, New Muslim Academy. :) From a humanly perspective a guy and a girl are probably friends on social media. But guys really are friends with guys. How can guys really be friends with other girls!? It doesn't make sense. There are cultural differences between my Dad's Latino side growing up and Mom's English/Welsh/Canadian side. I view Latinos as more family orientated but I know cousin relationships can happen in both cultures. I was really surprised as a Kid when I first heard my Chinese Uncle mention how cousin relationships happen in China. I pray people will recognize that Islam is the norm Inshallah and I pray that people will submit. Aameen

I am an agnostic, ex catholic Christian. I have been thinking long and hard about the dangers of Islam as a political system, the immigration crisis in Europe and the downfall of western values. I am coming to the conclusion that Islam has the strength to overtake the west, and maybe that's the only salvation for humanity. The west has lost its morals, we are lost children at each other's throats, we don't recognize the value of community, family, everything is relativism. I see muslims around the world, they are decent people, that value family, loyalty, morality, rules and ethic. We will not like it, but without those things we are doomed.

I presume that if you feel like you’re becoming friends with a female, you should hold back on your desires that could cause you to sin. Instead get to know the individual to the core and be patient as time will reveal if you and her resonate and can potentially pursue a life long happy marriage, which will be halal by default. I think that this may be the meaning of true love, when you marry the woman that you’ve been patient enough to persevere all her qualities in the most beautiful and authentic form.

​@@blue-sj4mf Your point is important however, it's generic and doesn't correlate with the principle intended in this video. Respect is important regardless of the relationship and age. However, one should not embrace that word as an excuse to shadow over the pursuit of unlawful acts. Teenagers could respect one another while committing sin with each other. The flavours and colours of premarital respect in Islam between opposite sexes differ from the common idea of mutual respect because it doesn't tie in with any protocols of the Islamic faith. A man respecting another female in Islam is the same way a man respects his sister in Islam, hence why Muslims who fear Allah always reference each other as sisters and brothers.

I see a lot of people arguing baselessly. The point here is, a straight man will have some sort of attraction towards a woman or vice versa sometimes. It's a universal fact! Unnecessary interaction will lead to Haram or Fitnah. You can be strictly professional and share no personal space( Allah knows the best) but there's always going to be one who'll catch feelings. This causes scarring of hearts which is not a consensus in Islam. Sharing pictures, personal space, knowledge beyond which a person is not allowed to know you, physical attraction, so many other Haram stuff. And from my personal experience I'd certainly agree "Guys and girls can't be friends"!

I don't really interact with guys. However, I had this cousin who seemed really inocent , we used to talk from time to time when we met each other at family gatherings and stuff like that. We don't want to wake up one day, where Muslims democratically impose on us, in public spaces rules of "decency", "sex segregation" etc. Besides, some of us find your rules, your teachings as creating very probable risks of harming people, even if it harms themselves on their own, such as: - if Muslim boys are taught that only "covered" women are decent, it influences how they treat noncovered, - if boys and girls are not allowed to flirt before marriage, then the West should accept arranged marriages, and this contradicts our values (like valuing love, freedom of choice, and it is quite reasonable to think that Islam brainwashes, along with Muslim community, believers not to find love as necessary reason to marry or that their choice is truly free, when in fact they choose a person they don't know, but wish to respect parents choice etc).

I am friends with a Muslim woman named Iyarun Miah and I have been since primary school she came from India to Britain at the age of 4 I've known her since she was 6 we went to the same school and lived a few doors away from my house on the same street. We became close friends because like me she was shy and awkward we didn't fit in with everyone else's ideas so popularity was something that evaded us both lol we didn't care though. We still talk a lot on Facebook and in phone calls that can last for hours. We haven't seen each other for over 10 years but the friendship is still strong. ​@@malakm8143Actually I'm afraid your wrong, you see I'm a girl and for many years I've been having friendships the way that is expected of me (with girls) and I can say with confidence that I had developed many mental issues to the point where I just wanted to give up on everything. Those girls broke me bit by bit and rarely showed me any of the kindness and support your talking about but I stayed and dealt with it because at the time I had no where else to go. In fact I felt extremely depressed and alone until one day I met this really kind boy who actually did show me appreciation I never got from the girls and look I'm not saying all girls are like this some of them are actually extremely nice and sweet but saying that boys can't show love and support just as good if not in some cases better then girls is just absolutely wrong. On the other hand some girls are bisexual. I live in the Uk, and one od my friends is bi. To be friends with a guy you need to be both not attracted to each other, or uncompatible. For example I know my very halal guy friend online will never disrespect me because he is a virgin and quite shy. The fact that islamic sholars depicture women as being less sexual of men makes me cringe, cause some women have high libido too or more. Though, if one is going to make a law, the exceptions should also be considered, taken into consideration. It is completely possible for the people of opposite gender who are straight to be just friends, there are many people like this on earth not even in the West but also in many other parts of the world. Stopping interacting with, socializing with, befriending with the half of the world's population except for one's wife and female close relatives just because one might get aroused or cannot control oneself doesn't seem right.

Which makes texting alone not recommended and Haram according to some scholars. If you want to get married, then get married, no need for a wedding, all that stuff can be delayed or canceled. I don't think sexual feelings means you cannot be friends. A friend is someone you can count on. Most Muslims count on their families, you have to understand Western Culture to though. Many young adults in West society are told to move out at 18, and single, some without even a license yet. So when they become friends with the first person they see, no offence but they will become friends, dependant. Do not blame the people, for its the culture that pressures them.
