It is not required in the original Gold and Silver. All it gives you is Flash, which is never needed to progress. In the remakes, you can't enter the Gym before completing Sprout Tower, so it is mandatory there,

Please, can you try to beat Pokémon Platinum with only one Lickitung? This pokémon learns a big variety of attacks through TMs and level up (in gen 4 it can get moves like Power Whip, Earthquake, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Fire Blast, Double Team, Knock Off...), which can be used to form some different strategies. I think it would be interesting if the challenge takes place in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum because they have a rock, a ghost, a fighting and a steel gym (which can be an obstacle in the way of a normal type such as Lickitung) and some tough fights like Cynthia and the rival (mainly if he uses Infernape). But you can chose whatever gen you like, of course. It probably won’t be the hardest challenge ever (since Lickitung’s stats are not that horrible) but a quite entertaining one, I would say.

I think we need an episode with setup moves only! Stockpile/Spit Up, Hypnosis/Dream Eater, Rest/Snore, Poison Gas/Venoshock, Solar Beam etc. You can use multiple pokemon, as long as they have a different combo!

I think a pretty interesting run idea would be to run something with Smeargle. What with Smeargle’s potentially perfect move pool there’s lots of room for strategy but actually getting the moves you want and beating the game with Smeargle’s stats doesn’t sound like an easy prospect

@JadeHex This is how I feel about there having been no Pokemon Colosseum or Gale of Darkness challenges yet. One can hope though. @KnightFerrocous That's kind of true, though there is an opportunity to do challenges involving Pokemon not available in GSC. Furthermore, important trainers, especially Red, are more difficult due to increased levels, better movesets (seriously, some of the GSC ones are so bad, such as the fact Steelix has Sunny Day), and/or held items. Incidentally, Red is arguably a lot harder due to the permanent Hail (in addition to the massive level boost his Pokemon got).

Love your challenge videos. Here's one challenge for 2020: -Pokémon Emerald -Start with a Zigzagoon -You can use any pokémon -You CAN use items in battle BUT -The only items you can use (during the whole game) are the ones you get from pickup. -That means no buying items, no items you find on the ground and no items you get from story events (except, obviously, story critical items). Don't know how hard it would be. Probably on the easy side.
