Have you ever taken a break from climbing? How long? I have taken breaks from climbing before, but this unavoidable hiatus is by far the longest and without any real exercise to speak of (no pullups, hangboard, etc. Nothing). Before this break, my climbing had already been tapering off for the better part of half a year, so it was mentally taxing to feel climbing slip away. I had no clue how this would go, but I was excited to get back into it. If you stuck around until the end, thank you, and let me know about those climbing tests. Hopefully I can get around to making a video around your responses, don't forget to subscribe and hit that bell if you don't want to miss it!

Loved the video, as always amazing quality! I also hate that reset moment.. Keep it up, you'll be back at it soon enough..

Appreciate it! I guess because I was so set on sending that problem and filming it, the reset stung more than normal. Thanks for watching, glad you dug it.

Thanks a bunch for the nice words and support, it's definitely challenging to stay motivated making videos, so I sincerely appreciate it. Thanks for checking these out and hopefully I can continue to deliver for you. Have a good one!

Glad you're back at it! Always feels so good hitting that wall after a break. Warning up on V4s is pretty impressive

Thanks. I think the one got in my head a bit, but once I got past it the majority of them started feeling pretty flowy.

@@CourtneyWarren nice, did you find out of you need surgery or not yet? Good luck, be safe!

@@SendStory still haven’t gotten the call for the surgeon consultation yet. The PT doctors told me it was highly likely that I need ACL reconstruction though. Hoping to get all the details soon!

That first V4 that you had to step back from and take a forced beta break is so relatable to every climb I do. I'm the type of overly excited climber that hops on the wall without looking at the problem or thinking about beta so I hop on, screw it up, waste all my muscle energy and then have to be forced to sit down pumped and actually think about beta. I think my greatest weakness as climber is IQ. I try and force myself to visualize now which I have gotten better at but I still lack selfawareness in terms of how far I can bend or where my center of gravity is. Goal is V7 by 40 years old!
@SendStory Жыл бұрын
You got that goal, no problem. You just need some consistency and the right problem! Honestly, as I've said before, grades are so arbitrary and only go so far to frame the difficultly of a problem. That v4 did not fit me at all, even when I figured it out, or at least what I needed to do to send, I had to try quite hard to heal hook at groin level and it did not feel easy for me. But yea... I definitely just attack boulders sometimes and it's not because I can't read them necessarily, but because I can't visualize how I specifically fit in. Hence why I started filming myself climbing. We should climb together soon and work on some v7s for you!

Get back after it my dude! You'll be back to smashin V6's in no time, fuckin heartbreaking about the reset though, I feel that pain! I just went out to Joshua Tree for the first time, bitch smacked my ego back to the stone age, best I could send was V3! MonkeyFlower and Yabba Dabba Don't were the two best sends of the day, can't wait to go back. Awesome video! Keep on keepin on!
@SendStory Жыл бұрын
Thank you sir! I visited Joshua Tree for just part of a day a few years back when I was in California for a non climbing trip. We got a guide so they could take us to the routes, get us more out of our day, and the big thing was they provided the equipment (which we didn't bring with us). The rock style there was definitely not what I was used to and while I was on ropes instead of boulders, I feel your pain. Makes me want to go back there at some point and see how I fare... maybe one day. Thanks for the comment, keep crushing.

@@SendStory That's pretty clutch, I didn't even know guided climbing tours were a thing! Joshua Tree is epic, only ever backpacked out there, until I started climbing that is. I have to go back, got smacked down so hard and it's driving me nuts, but I'm lucky enough to be three hours away, so going back won't be difficult. Your videos are crazy good quality and super interesting, glad to see more! Enjoy this wild life, it's one hell of a ride!
