Great repair! These are getting rarer all the time because of how little the Vita was supported for. Makes for a great emulation handheld once jailbroken! Some say its even better than a New 3DS when it comes to emulation

Today thanks to your videos I tried repairing a keyboard of mine with a few non-functionning keys… turns out there was a short-circuit on the microchip due to two pins being bound together. I realized I need better equipment after I fried it. Heh… maybe using nothing but a soldering iron wasn't all that clever. :D Keep up the good work!

When it blinks like that, it means the battery is undercharged from probably months, maybe years, of just sitting and it has to be caught up to the minimum safe usage levels.

Blinking is battery recovery mode. Just leave it overnight and it’ll be fine

When the battery is driven down so far, it's always good to try to recover it with a bench power supply since a charger might not want to charge it

This right here. You have no idea how many Vitas I got cheap around the 2016 to 2018 time on eBay because the Vitas refused to charge a critically low battery and the whole unit seemed dead to the previous owner. I wish I held on to them a bit longer to really cash in on them now though.

I was thinking the same thing myself. I'd depin the connector and charge the battery directly. I wouldn't have even looked at anything else at that point, only when I put it back together and saw it wasn't charging would I have went to more effort.

RE: pin lengths it's actually good they're different sizes. It's the data and clock signal pins that are shorter on purpose to ensure that if there's a loose connection you lose data first since otherwise it could cause issues if there's data with no power as the console always expects both together. Also replacement charging ports are very cheap, please just replace it long term rather than just bending the pins back. Those pins look ready to snap or bend again at any moment and it'd probably be cheaper to replace the port(ebay has them from China for £1.25+free delivery) than any other suggestion.

Nice work, definitely replace the port to ensure those pins don’t cause more trouble in the future. I’ve had my OLED Vita since just after launch and loved it, even though it ended up getting little use for a couple of years until I got into homebrew. It’s always been my experience as a gamer that charging could be faster than it is. Having said that, your battery was very low so it would need extra time to recover from that condition. I was surprised it hadn’t gone into a fault condition and the protection disconnected it. Tip: The PS button flashes if there isn’t enough charge to boot up, it lights up solidly when there is enough. My screen has an intermittent green vertical line that clears if I rap on the middle of it. Probably something needs resoldering with equipment I don’t have.
