Just came across this video. I have a 2017 F-pace 2.0d and have found that here in America the jag dealers aren’t much help with diagnosing the problems we’ve had, forcing me to become a jag mechanic. Good on you for taking this on and seeing it through!

Great video and well done for getting all that done by yourself, looking forward to pt2

Thanks, it got a bit more involved than I expected

Absolutely love your work. If your Porsche Boxter commitment is anything to go by this Jag will be back running again in no time, you’re a genius Sir!

Impressive work mate. I was looking at purchasing a f pace 20d 2016 model from an auction with a motor problem. It's drivable but the motor needs major work. The amount of work I'd need to co sider doing to likely getting it running well won't justify the saving I'd make.

That's pretty much how I ended up. Came out a bit cheaper but the market dropped and wiped me out anyway. They're was a 2017, 70k miles recently with an engine problem, owner was offered 5k for it broken. Didn't feel it was viable even at that money.

Hi. I came across your channel because I have a Jaguar XF X260 with the same engine. It has the same damage. I wanted to ask what manufacturers of spare parts you used?
@Escygt2 ай бұрын
@@lukasz9863 I used a genuine (but used) crankshaft and rods, Chinese oversized pistons (Jaguar don't make them). For the timing chain kit get a decent brand.
@lukasz98632 ай бұрын
@@Escygt and with the benefit of hindsight and this repair, what would you advise me to do differently so that it would be successful without major problems?
@Escygt2 ай бұрын
@@lukasz9863 I don't know if you've watched part 2 and 3 yet but the engine ends up shitting itself. Possibly looks like the liners weren't done correctly. I don't know about advice but I do know I wish I hadn't bothered

Do the 2.0 petrol suffer from engine problems too?
@007JHS10 ай бұрын
If you decat it and remove all of the emissions parts... haow will you get it past the MOT? ... surely the engine management systems will reveal this when put on a reader?
@Escygt10 ай бұрын
It's been re-mapped. The MOT is a visual smoke test on a diesel. It's not smokey at all.

i have one aswell to deal with at work, seized motor, was wondering how you were able to access the torque converter bolts/nuts?
@Escygt Жыл бұрын
Through the starter motor opening. Luckily my engine wasn't totally seized so I could use a pry bar to move the flywheel a tooth at a time.
@JimDaTech Жыл бұрын
@@Escygt ofcourse, however , this motor I have is deadlocked 🥲 may have to yank the transmission off the converter , dropped as whole unit
@Escygt Жыл бұрын
@@JimDaTech I was glad I didn't need to mess with the transmission but pulling it all out as one unit is probably quicker if you've got a ramp. Your customer is going to be getting a monster bill! Are you rebuilding the engine or just putting another in?
@brianiswrong Жыл бұрын
You need to price up having parts to rebuild your original engine and price up having a doner engine serviced (who knows what you might find worn on an unkown engine. Or maybe the best bet financially (if time allows) to get a cheap doner car and make 1 good engine out of the 2 engines.

That engine is knackered ...........you will never clean out that debris from the block and oil galleries, it will always come back to cause wear problems. Deleting your DPF is illegal and will effect your insurance. All your pistons are scored ? what are you talking about !
@PGriff Жыл бұрын
Always love your updates. Sounds like a great price, albeit I hope you’re still able to turn it round while keeping repair costs reasonably sensible. It sounds like buying a crash damaged car to pull the lump out of is probably the best way to go financially, albeit it’s going to be extra ballache to rip apart and shift all the bits. What’s the plan - are you going to fit the new lump wholesale, or try and recycle some bits from your lump? What with the change in bore diameter and the amount of swarf & silicone floating about, it seems like the best bet might be to recycle the new turbo and junk everything else? Best of luck mate 👍
@Escygt Жыл бұрын
The best bet is to get another engine but nothing suitable was coming up and I was pressed for time. I didn't want to wait around looking for an engine or donor car at the right price - it may never come. I end up going with my least favoured and the more risky option of a rebuild which is part 2. I'll be uploading it soon.

Donor engines go for a lot of money because ingenium engines are a bit crap to be honest. Shame rest of car looks lovely

Ended up about 3k cheaper than the cheapest on the market. I've got a fresh engine, new chains, brand new turbo and all the DPF stuff taken care of. I'm happy with that. 👍
