@@glenjohnson5323 they dont even care about pregnant women. They have this notion that pregnancy is some benign thing that won't effect a woman but that isnttrue. On average it takes a woman 7 YEARS to fully return to normal after having a child and thats just hormones etc, thats not including how women are up for 2200+ diseases and chronic diseases just from pregnancy alone (let alone birth). There is literally a reason women used ro lose their life 50% (maybe more) before medical intervention during pregnancy and birth but even now, womens healthcare is abysmal and in the west the state of care goes down incredibly with the modern age. It's absolutely ridiculous that these people would protest abortions, but be against taking care of those same children once they are born. In Ireland, all children are entitled to 2 years of preschool, which the government funds. That's 3 hours a day for every child. 2 of my kids have completed those 2 years and they were fantastic. The government also subsidises childcare. It's still expensive AF, but less than it would be without the subsidy. We also have hot lunches provided for primary school children. The kids love it. Each Friday, we open up the app and they look through the menu for each day and choose what they want. They have great choices, which are inclusive of many dietary requirements and are healthy. A favourite of my son's (6 year old) is roast ham with potatoes and cabbage and my daughter (4 year old) loves the roast chicken with potatoes and carrots. Other things that are provided for school kids here are all of the books, workbooks, etc that they need. We also get a monthly child benefit. It's not much, but it helps a bit. We also have 6 months paid maternity leave, optional unpaid leave, paid paternity leave and paid Parents Leave, all of which is protected and separate to sick leave, which is also paid. They have also just introduced a newborn payment, so help out right after the birth and all maternity hospital care is publicly funded. All childhood vaccines are also government funded and at the present time, all family doctor visits are funded up to age 8. If a country with the size and population of Ireland can do all that, surely the US can take a couple of steps towards actually showing that they care about their children.

I know a married couple who have 3 kids who were the result of failed birth control (all when abortion was still illegal where we are). The third was an IUD, so nobody can say it wasn't being used incorrectly. Are these people going to try and tell married couples to stop having sex if they don't want to have children? No, there were quite a few people who DID support the petitions, who did want universal Pre-K and the like. There are people out there who just, you know, really disagree with abortions in many circumstances. I'm one of them, but unlike the people in that march I don't believe in using the law to force people one way or another; I've educated myself enough to know that each woman has her own circumstances and it's not to me to judge these things. It should be a carefully considered decision between a woman and her doctor, and also my beliefs are religious ones which I have no right to impose on others. I questioned things, though, during my teenage years, before I learned some of the nuance. It can be difficult to face that the things you believe are ethically right shouldn't always be enshrined in law.

Yeah that one made me laugh at first and then realized that man has no sense of self realization. Just sad.

The UK has free school lunches for all children of parents who are struggling to make ends meet and not just during term time school holidays are included. The Conservative government tried to stop it and believe it or not a young professional football (soccer) player, Marcus Rashford who came from an under privileged background but is now very wealthy and privileged, used his own money, platform and influence, combined with an overwhelming grass roots support to force them to backtrack. Puts this in some perspective. Love what you do Walter, keep fighting the good fight.

Marcus Rashford is a king amongst men. (See also Gary Lineker!)

This is beautiful, thank you for sharing. I always love to hear what is working in other countries besides the US.

As always, it was never about protecting children, it was always about hurting women.

The comments can focus a lot on the worst people of the March- but I like seeing the people who ARE signing. I disagree with them on the abortion topic, but we do agree on helping children who are already born and that gives me hope.
