I do not blame LGBTQ people for my traumatic injustice, I blame the homophobic Amerikkkan culture that denied me basic civil rights. My rapist got an honorable discharge, had multiple victims, and now works for amtrak in los angeles. congratulations on your efforts promoting the freedom of my rapist, while denying me justice just because you think I am gay. Walter, the gay man you were talking to (wearing a BLM shirt) is Brandon Straka. He is part of the Walk Away Movement & is a Jan 6-er. He was arrested in Omaha Nebraska for being at the Capitol on Jan 6th. Mr Straka was sentenced on 1/24/22 to 36 months of probation, including three months of home detention, $5,000 fine, $500 restitution. His X-,formally known as Twitter, account is littered with Trump boot licking. I hope Mr Straka realizes that hating Trans people does not make the Republican party love gay people. They may talk nice to his face. Especially if he has money, and is a consistent donor. However, behind his back they feel he is just as depraved and that him being a gay man is going to send him to hell. I hate this "25% of kids are identifying as LGBTQ+" talking point Firstly: citation Secondly: how do we know that this isn't the true percentage and its just that now people are more educated and more comfortable coming out? Thirdly: "LGBTQ+" is a very broad category, by design. Bisexual all on its own is a very broad category when you think about it. It includes people who equally date men and women, people who prefer same gender or another gender, it even includes people who aren't interested in dating one gender but think that they're hot or are willing to have the occasional fling with a particularly hot person of that gender. A woman who exclusively dates men but is okay making out with other women at the club? She could count as bisexual. Once you throw non-binary people into the mix it gets even more complicated because all of a sudden "bisexual" could mean that you are interested in dating women _and_ also femme presenting non-binaries. I have debated if I should be identifying as bisexual because that's how I am: I'm into dudes, but I would also be willing to date a masculine non-binary person. In these people's view that would make me "straight" but now, all of a sudden, by introducing all of these different definitions I could be classified as part of the LGBTQ+ community despite me not fitting the conventional idea of what being LGBTQ+ means. (I choose not to ID as bisexual, for the record, mostly just because I feel like that communicates something that I don't mean to.) "Queer" or "questioning" is also incredibly broad and open to interpretation. And then you also have other things that aren't necessarily widely recognized as being part of the LGBTQ umbrella but are adjacent enough that some people might place them in that category. I'm talking about people who are polyamorous, people who are into kink, cis/het drag queens/kings, etc. LGBTQ+ is an umbrella term that is intentionally made to be as inclusive as possible. Its really not a shocker that when you take a category and stretch it as wide as can be, a large number of people will fit into it. With the inclusion of non-binaries, "transgender" could mean a person who is comfortable in their body uses the same name and pronouns they were assigned at birth, but likes to dress in a masculine way some days and a feminine way other days. That person would be making no drastic changes to their body and previously would probably just go about life identifying as cisgender but now, all of a sudden we have a word for that: gender fluid.
@shortangel333 Жыл бұрын
Of course graphs have come out and younger generations are coming out more and more and people are confused but the 1980s-1990s had an epidemic where Gay men and Trans women were basically a target of a disease, they're would be more LGBTQ+ people but they're not with us because their lives were cut short. Also as always the identifying as left-handed chart comes out to show that once being left handed wasn't seen as a crime it started to show that around 25% of the population were left handed and it looked like a lot of people were "suddenly" left handed when they were just not being forced to be right handed.

Bless the first woman you interviewed, and may she stay safe to live as who she is meant to be. She spoke very eloquently about how Republicans are using trans people as a wedge issue because they are easier to punch down on right now. I agree that being gay/lesbian is too commonplace enough nowadays for people to support bigotry against them. The moment people meet trans people and actually listen to or see them as people, is the day that bigotry starts to end. That’s what these people fear the most, is that their hatred and cruelty will one day be completely unacceptable. Love will win in the end
