Harley Benton continuing to prove that "expensive = better" is no longer the case. Amazing bass sound, great video!

Those HB P-Basses are the best value instruments around - crazy low prize and exactly the sound you need.

"copy" basses sound just as good. Squier's are decent enough. I have used one (not mine) and an 1979 El Degas Precision copy (still have) where it fooled the brand snobs. On the guitar side, I have Fender & Gibson's, and a few Squier and Epiphones. They all get the job done.

The SG solo through the 20w Orange and Tube Screamer sounded fantastic. And yes, a Fender-type and Gibson-type sound great mixed for several reasons playing 70s hard rock. Strutter was the first KISS song I ever heard. Your 'cover' did it justice. Enjoyed it, thanks!

That solo alone, sounds great. Great job dude 😎

Sounds great! I recently did a partial cover of this song and used my little supro 1606 through my suhr reactive load and IR thingy to get some decent vintage KISS style tone. Yours is better though 🙂

Sounds perfect. I played this song to death 20 years ago because of Guitar Hero 2. It even sounds like Kiss-Strutter was remastered

The tone is SPOT ON, truly a reminder that we shouldn’t disregard analog practice amp. The song however sounded extremely odd. I don’t know if it was the stems you used or the mix, however it does deliver the point and that what matters! Awesome job, Collin!

Nicely put together. And I bet you loved playing ALL of that gear! It really just comes down to playing what you want to how you want to.

Are we on the verge of a new "sounds like"!!! I would love that!

Great tones as always and that partscaster is 🤘

That's funny. When I was like 19 and got my little band situation going, we played Strutter too. Ahhh...the homogeneity of early guitar learning never ceases to amaze.

When it comes to amps, there have been many decent solid states over the years. Orange, Marshall, Peavey, Fender etc. I used to have the 50 watt Marshall solid state JCM800, until it died after 18 years. I have the Marshall Lead 12 + Vox BM-1 + Peavey XXL (3rd channel is S/S 5150) The Orange Micro Terror is a pretty cool hybrid 20w head with matching cab. You can dial in clean to metal. I gigged as a duo with a piano player several times with it. For band gigs, I have a few tube combo amps, Traynor YCV-40 & Marshall 50 watts are plenty enough for a bar gig.

I remember being so excited to listen to KISS when I was a kid. I was expecting to hear some satanic black metal… and I ended up with Disco 😂

Fascinating...in that I can't figure out why anyone would want to nail KISS tones. Are we going to try to nail Foghat tones next?

Great take on this classic. Using the product in a mix is a great demo. Would be interesting to see the cost rollup on the setup to show that you do not need big money to have good tone.

In the description, there is a link to all the equipment (or nearest equivalent) which should give you an idea of how much each item would cost.

Damn, Colin. Amazing reproduction. Been using sims for a couple of years now out of space consideration but I'm really thinking about picking one of these up now.

from pictures of Kiss in the studio for their debut, Ace used a 2 humbucker Telecaster and Paul an Ovation Breadwinner. No Gibson guitars yet? For amps, they probably cranked up what was in the studio, old Marshall's and Fender's. And seriously, not a lot of gain. I'm suspecting a Big Muff was used on the solos.

Hey, Colin, do you still have or use any of your OG homebuilt guitars? I remember thinking that the superstrats you made with the hannes bridges and fossil inlays were the coolest things back in the day, but haven't seen them since the channel rebrand.

Not even gonna lie 😅 because of the thumbnail style and the topic of the video. I thought this was a Stevie T video.

Now that I’m older, when I hear Kiss music, I am amazed at how successful they were in 70’s, despite such horrible music.
@ScienceofLoud3 сағат бұрын
They are just awful, but I can't not love the chorus riff in Strutter; it gives some sort of primal satisfaction.

@@ScienceofLoud I totally agree with you Colin! I do like Strutter. It has a good riff!
