I would love to see an updated version where you do this with a HomePod mini. That'd be fun to watch.

Despite the fact that you can cheaply and easily grab any working blue tooth speaker off Amazon or eBay; I really like your re use of a product here by adding a few simple components - and avoided another piece of electronic equipment going to land fill (nice!) enjoyed watching the process; thank you Steve 👍

Really like this idea as I have bought both boards myself. I collect lythium batteries from the VAPE products that people smoke as some even have USBC charging ports with power boards! The Bluetooth board is more a reciever and not an amplifier, hence the 3.5mm jack that is used for headphones.

It's a cool little project. I'm tempted to get a blacklisted Echo just to play around with a similar setup :) But I don't need another bluetooth speaker, I already have 2 and I don't even use them. It's just a cool little brain exercise.

A great idea Steve. I think a small push button switch would have suited the small hole rather than a rocker switch though. I wonder if a larger Echo would have better sound - and likely more space?

Very neat job alround, I bet there are many going to do theirs now. What was the stereo audio socket used for, could it be connected? I have seen small round push switches that would have fitted in that audio socket hole. Looking forward to the next "Pimp it"

Looking at your little Bluetooth amplify audio board. I think from the ones I've bought before you can bridge something on board as to make it louder mine came with instructions to go from 25 w to 50w depending on what u want a revisit would be good with maybe a slightly better board and the top vol buttons working and power switch. Them little speakers throw out some decent loud sound for what they are seems that little board goes no where near the speakers ability

I second this. also....not having a switch and just letting the battery drain the whole way is....uhhh....not super safe. Edit: having watched the rest of the video I now see a switch was added....*facepalm*

Just looking at how much room you did have I'd have tried to put in another battery, maybe another 2 batteries. I'd have been looking all over for different shape batteries. You want to get as many batteries in there as possible. Just a single 1000mah isn't going to last very long 20-30 minutes tops depending on volume. The world of RC models (radio controlled cars, boats, helicopters, planes, drones), is the best place to go looking for small but powerful batteries. And, there is countless shapes and sizes to fit almost every need. ETA - I didn't mean put more batteries in the speaker in series. That would probably fry the components. You need to wire them up in parallel. So if you have two 1000mah wired in parallel it will be like having one 2000mah battery. so it will double the time between charges.

How can I do the same with an Echo 4th generation (not echo dot)? Is it possible to connect the bluetooth adapter to the amplified board? Because when connecting directly to the speakers, the sound is very low.

One problem that I have with any speaker, wired or wireless when using it with an android device is that the audio output is not loud enough. One bluetooth speaker is PLENTY loud, the bitty boomer. I'm not sure if this is a bug with android but most bluetooth speakers output is weak and even with earbuds the audio isn't loud enough so I made a small headphone amp and it's MUCH louder.

I'm not sure if that will work or not. These devices are likely embedded with some type of ID number or code which amazon can see and if one gets blacklisted then Amazon wont let it activate or connect to it's servers.

Hello. I wanted to know if you could help me transform an Alexa Echo 4th speaker into auxiliary connection only. My warranty no longer covers me and alexa does not work, when it does not work it does not give me access to connect by auxiliary. Maybe you could disable the alexa module and leave it only as a speaker? They will tell me thank you.
