Thing is... I was keeping that thing around just for the purpose of the ZOOM App to manage the MS100-BT pedal FX, because you would need an apple device to manage your purchased (or free) FX in a proprietary app. Needless to say that on my old 4thgen Ipod device the app still runs but I can't purchase even the FREE FX plugins , because to download FREE effect units you still need access to some sort of shop system or whatdoiknow that seemingly this old device (deliberately?) doesn't support. What brings me to a very different topic, not useful to the most people here but: don't ever buy a music production device that needs any access to 'the internet', needs a customer account for whatever, or mandatory online connection to update some firmware and in the worst case: TO OPERATE AT ALL. So sad...

Im still using a ipod touch 5th gen as my daily device for 2 months now because my parents took my phone. I can use netflix,instagram and snapchat actively with no problem. I managed to download tiktok but its so laggy that i cant use tiktok. but i can use all the other apps just fine. But because its an old device it has a bad battery life. I wanted to change it but are arent any fix shops near me that can change an ipod battery. so i have to carry a powerbank with me all the time. But i love how light and nostalgic it is! when i was a kid one of my friends had an ipod 5th gen and I was so jealous of him. my parents never bought me one. now I use one ad my daily device. be careful about what you wish!

Still sounds good. Still does a great job of playing SD videos off if iTunes Still runs the KZbin on-line site (???) Camera is retro cool already Is small and light and easy to carry around Ear phone jack!!!! In 2013 I used this as a cheap smart phone. It was a great tool for navigating (how that worked without gps I have no idea. I just st downloaded Google maps and the app navigated perfectly, as long as I didn’t deviate from the planned route. I recently tried that with my iPad and it didn’t work. What changed?) In 2014 it was a reasonable iPhone substitute. In 2014 I got an iPhone 6, but the iPod touch 4 still gets used in my car, hooked up via the 3.5 earphone jack. Still sounds great, and since the music is all downloaded I don’t have to be annoyed when I lose cell service.

I believe back in the day you could download data that used maps offline but I don’t think the iPod touch had any tracking feature unless you scrolled manually while moving

@@H8RSAPPRECIATE the IPod touch used Wi-Fi location for tracking purposes. I used it for trips on a regular basis before I got my iPhone 6. You had to get directions downloaded ahead of time, but afterwards it did a pretty good job of keeping track of where you were. If you got lost, though, you had to find some free Wi-Fi so that you could reset the directions. MacDonalds were my best friend back then!

Despite the relatively high pixel density for the time, the display on that thing absolutely does not hold up well at all. I had one when it was new and that thing had a horrible contrast ratio. Watching videos with a lot of dark or nighttime scenes was out of the question as the black brightness was so bad that it washed out nearly all of the image and cast everything in a bright grayish haze.

@@retrorevive711 Yeah, it was a good device and I did get a lot of use out of it. I just wished Apple hadn't cheaped out and put a crappy TN panel in it instead of the IPS in the iPhone 4. I think that's because Steve Jobs was still making the decisions at the time and wanted people to see how much better the iPhone was and buy that too.

Assuming your talking about an ipod touch, I'd recommend an ipod classic 5th gen. They last far longer and have better battery life typically

@@SDRIFTERAbdlmounaim I’ve seen people add like 1TB to old devices like IPods and the Zume mp3 player. I would suggest to do alot of research on what you want. Personally I would buy a used or refurbished iPhone that’s in a good condition. You could use a music streaming app that allows offline download use or just manually download music for offline use

There's nothing wrong with using an iPod or any mp3 player today. Think about it this way. You'd be saving lots of money if you stopped your monthly subscriptions like Spotify -- you can only listen to so much. You would have more control of what you can put in your player -- you can add, remove, and you don't have to rely on data or the Internet every time you want to listen to your music.
