Vibe Thank you. I think that everyone misses that key part. It's one thing to not promote your artists but to try to change their whole sound to your gimmick isn't gonna cut it, not only because as someone who create, it's kinda fucked up to do that, but that's not gonna work for them, that sound is not the foundation which they got there. And I also think Joe holds a lot of credibility when it comes to to the other long list of artists who sign to Shady with a lot of traction and end up going stale. Also dudes need to stop acting like the formula of being a huge artist starting up smaller artists signed to you is too much to ask for, dudes are doing that everyday now. It's not abnormal.

@jackstonbond6 жыл бұрын
The essence of that conversation was essentially that Joe Budden loves starting diss tracks with love. He enjoys getting all of the positives out the way, and then slaughtering dudes. Slaughtermouse is the song that was played, and that was a diss track at Em. I believe it was about 8 minutes long, about 200ish bars. If you listen to Slaughtermouse, the song fades out - that's when the actual dissing was supposed to start but was edited out because he felt he couldn't diss his boss
@Rassmaster6 жыл бұрын
Here's my take: As for the allegations, Crooked I pretty much deaded Joe's allegations regarding slaughterhouse. He has said that Em was basically their 5th member and he fulfilled all of the Agreement. Em did everything to help out slaughterhouse and in terms of creative decisions, it was a voting process and if joe got outvoted, that's on Joe. Now when Joe is saying That em has no content, that tells me he is full of shit. Not only did he contradict himself on everyday struggle but I can name DOZENS of songs from Em within the decade that has content. I feel like Joe is trying to push the narrative of content vs syllable shit because Joe knows he can't fuck with Em on the syllable shit so he's trying to make it like it's ONLY content that matter. When in reality BOTH matter. It's just that Joe is better with "content" than he is with the syllable shit(not saying he can't do the syllable shit, but he doesn't compare to Em). Em has both. He's more a versitile Emcee. He can create content and be super technical. Joe is really nice on the mic but for him to say he has been better than Em this decade is blasphemy. I think Em will destroy Joe, but make no mistake Joe is super talented and is the most formidable emcee that em has challenged. I just hate when Joe spits out bullshit like how he's been better than Em this decade and em has no content and the whole thing with slaughterhouse when he's been proven wrong. Even crooked says that Joe shouldn't dismiss technical writing because both are important, it's just Joe trying to control the narrative because deep down he knows the talent that Em has.

@kooleyBear6 жыл бұрын
For me I don't think so because that is how it is. If you are in a position to bargain then most times they make the rules. And I think it matters that Joe is retired because so many rappers waited till Joe was retired to reply or say anything to him. Now that he has shown he isn't interested unless you show you mean it then why engage when we have seen time and again that others have not replied. For example Kendrick, Drake, Jay, and many others don't respond to all the dishes against them because most times there isn't much to gain from them while the opponent can either way. And he made it clear that he is fine responding to Em but it needs to show that Em means it. The line he had for Joe was nice but it wasn't so amazing that it needed him to come out of retirement to reply. Especially not when Em was mad because he said he only hated one song after months of saying nothing but positive things for Em.
@lastdonuts6 жыл бұрын
nah, cause its not quite like that. Its more like revealing a magic trick to the audience, they were all amazed before you showed them how its done, now after you've exposed the trick some will realize it was just a sideshow and that the trick isn't that great. Em can still do his machine gun rhymes, but its like the magic trick. You do have to be skilled to perform it, but sometimes that machine gun flow serves as misdirection to some real basic bars. Joe is basically warning everyone about it first so that Em is either forced to make them actually be good bars or instantly lose due to thinking the audience will be wowed enough not to care about bars. The first rounds of this battle has basically already started.

Album sales is the only key factor to becoming a priority artist at any record label, especially a major label. Joe even said he thought that signing to Shady meant that Slaughterhouse, both as individual artists and a collective, were about finally about to eat. He said that maybe he’d get some direction, interaction or even be able to ask Em for a feature on either his, the group or Em’s album. He thought they’d finally be able to make it by having the backing of such a massive machine such as Shady Interscope. That he’d finally become a priority artist along with his SH brothers because of the backing of Shady. Because as you’ve seen with Drake, Lil Wayne, even Eminem, all the huge hip hop mega stars, being a priority artist at ANY record label, let alone Shady, means bigger budgets for marketing, producing, touring, etc. which leads to more money in the hip pocket. That’s the business go for an artist. Em was that key. The key Slaughterhouse, YellaWolf, etc haven’t gotten or never got from Em or Shady Records.
@onelove101unity6 жыл бұрын
David P You're talking utter shit. Em is on that Slaughterhouse album, features on three songs on their Our House album and supplied beats and production on most of the songs. He also features on Yelawolf's 'Best Friend' track so how come you come here with a lengthy stream of bullshit and try and present it as facts? Fuck outta here.
@Krafty5 жыл бұрын
That’s how it’s always been though. You put the bigger name on the record FOR THAT REASON. It’s called cross promotion. The fans of Em cop the album or at least the track to see what it sounds like. The idea being that Em fans will also become fans of the new artists. It’s an age old marketing tactic that actually works. So it seems weird as fuck why in recent years, Shady Records haven’t done it. Look back at all the older albums. Stat Quo was on Encore, Obie was on D12’s album, Em was on 50’s album, and various other examples. It’s a smart move and to me, Shady Records has dropped the ball by not doing it on recent projects.

@Keyser Soeze i can see your point but idk, I just feel like his music is more niche then Kendrick's stylistally. He has borderline experimental production with songs ranging from up beat and dancey, to instrospective like Heavenly Father. Sure, Kendrick and many of the other artists are diverse and experimental too, but I feel like what made TDE artists blow up was that Trap influenced sound that GKMC had. That combination of Trap with underground sounds really blew up alongside some anthemic choruses like Swimming Pools. I don't think Isaiah really has that bombastic, catchy sound to his music that could cross him over to the mainstream. He's more along the lines of underground rap. I'm not saying he is not popular at all, but he's nowhere near Kendrick or Schoolboy level famous. Maybe he never wanted to blow up like that idk

@@mykectown you are correct. He originally was writing Slaughtermouse as a diss track to Eminem. It was later changed to a salute/open letter to Eminem. Respectfully its not. Joe was playing the first verse of "Trade it All" from "House Rules" which was the mixtape that came out after their second album was released on Shady Records. Remember, just as Eminem said on his interview with Sway that people had a problem with the direction of the music after they signed. Joe had a problem with it, and if you listen to the first album then you can clearly see the issue with Eminem's ear for music, because he himself said he loved it but some members who didnt like it were outvoted by other members, producers, himself, and Paul. Look at the lyrics and you can see: "Uh, here's something I'd like to know Would you trade it all? Would you put a price on your soul? Answer that - you more about the outcome or the income? Would you give up your dreams to feel like you're living in one? Faced with decisions, would you ignore intuition? Trade in whatever drives you for keys to an ignition? Or would you go on like your life fine? It's funny how a moment'll change your lifetime Yeah, would I be held as a villain If I never helped with feelings? Change to sell a million?"

I don't think Budden said he needed his own song from Em (I need to re-listen), but he did say keep it outside of an album rollout. While that should be pretty easy if Em drops it now, I don't think Em will respond partially because it drags Royce and the rest of Slaughterhouse into a tough position and partially because he has little to gain and a lot to lose, his team likely won't want to take that risk. It may hurt more if the international megastar Eminem loses a battle to moody 'ol barely sold any albums Joe Budden than if he just stays silent, thats not including what behind the scenes info may come out. Losing simply opens the floodgates to a LOT of criticism and debates. However, I do kinda hope Em does respond with one more album. If he wants to get all introspective, relate his anger, remorse etc, he can definitely do it with something like the rise and fall of Slaughterhouse/Shady. (Shady isn't dead yet, I'm just saying)

The only thing he hated was untouchable because of the whole black boy black boy shit em was saying in the chorus. Even Joe specifically said his beef was with em it was his team who had him do it so I don't understand why em got pissy and went at Joe.
