The doctor was so pleasing to listen to, that just shows the academic level he's acquired through years of professional studying. Overall, they all did good, but now I realize that the IELTS evaluation focuses on so many aspects, not only your english knowledge, but also your critical thinking

I’m a native speaker of Canadian English, it’s interesting to see the difference in idioms. I’ve never heard anyone in Canada say “warm to”, for instance.
@InstantEnglishUK Жыл бұрын
What expressions should people know if they go to Canada?
@kitkatkk2 Жыл бұрын
One I don’t hear a lot outside of Canada is “double-double”. It’s a coffee order that means “two milk, two sugar”. The most common one I can think of is “gong show”, meaning a chaotic event or situation, like “Last night’s party was a gong show!”. On the east coast of Canada, you might hear “fill your boots”, which means “do whatever you want”. A less common one is “hang a Roger/Larry”, which is used in directions to mean turn right or left, respectively.

You have made genuine efforts to make us familiar with how native speakers speak English. You have also practically demonstrated how native English speakers would face IELTS. I am not sure whether they all are aware with IELTS format or not but according to me everyone did so well. Love from India friend.

Most IELTS students whom I have been talking to said that you need to use some transitional words in your speaking such as "moreover, in addition, furthermore, and etc, but this is not true at all. These words would just make your speaking sound rigid and unnatural. I don't know what you think of it. I mean if you use those words accordingly, it'll most definitely yield a natural response but most of the time we speak with colloquial vocabulary. What do you think?
@InstantEnglishUK2 жыл бұрын
Well, I’m a formal context like part 3, they would be very useful indeed
@minhkhoaluong25 Жыл бұрын
Yes, it's indeed true. Speaking should not be formal in form too much like writing. Ask yourself, do you tend to use formal expressions in your everyday talks ?
