Hi! I'm Laura (aka adrishark), I'm a marine biologist as well. Condolences on your Dad. I've lost mine too. I wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos, they are very informative and easy to understand for people who are not familiar with this topic :) I live in Malta, a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea. I collaborate with an assosiation called "sharklab Malta" and we save shark eggs from dead females at the fish market. We work especially with nursehounds and lesser spotted cat sharks. So far, we released 350 baby sharks. Attending the release is amazing, and we always hope those babies will have a good and healthy life! Bye

Thanks for making this video Kris. Considering I was one of the people who requested it, I thought I should give some thanks. I hope you are doing okay or as okay as you can be, all things considered. I just wanted to say I'm glad you are still putting out videos. You've entertained me, made me laugh and, most importantly, educated me about so many shark topics and I'm sure the thousands and thousands of fans all over the world feel the same. We love to see the videos, but you're absolutely right that we have your back. Take any and all the time you need when/if you need it, we'll still be here pal.

Our aquarium here in VA Beach, VA is part of the zebra shark hatching program. When you go there is a full display along with egg cases and baby sharks explaining the program and its purpose. I had never given it much thought before now as they have been there for years and years working on this. I really hope the project takes off and I feel some pride knowing a place so close to me contributed to the future chances on that species.

As for the zebra shark rewilding project, I think it's going to work, at least where it's being done now. Obviously there will be challenges even if they can control humans in this case, but I think they have a good plan in place.

I lost my mom in 2015, and I wish I could tell you that the ache goes away. It doesn't. But strangely, I have learned to appreciate the grief because it is a true sense of the love that will always be there. It reminds me of that quote from Vision: "What is grief, if not love persevering?" Hang in there, and take your time. There are no rules for grief. My heart is with you.

@@SHARKBYTES It would be tough going, especially where species have been utterly wiped out. BTW Kris, you were right (I knew it as well) about the Hurghada attack and the shark that was caught. I actually was able to google map the spot off of Dream Beach, and I even found pictures of the boats used to catch the shark. I think they baited the shark over to the shark nets they have on the other side of the dock/pier structures that are to the left of where the gentleman was killed. Then they just pulled in the nets and brought the poor girl to shore, and clubbed her to death. :/ The autopsy confirmed what we all knew....pieces of Mr. Popov were inside the shark.

So sorry for your loss, Kris, but at least I'm glad you've been getting support from the community. Losing a father is really tough. I lost mine when I was 9 and still miss him dearly despite being 22 now. I wouldn't say it gets easier, but with time you get to learn how to deal with it and appreciate the memories you got to make with him. I know I'm a complete stranger, but from what little I've seen it seems like you loved him dearly. Sending lots of hugs your way - stay strong, but know when you need to let your guard down and let yourself be vulnerable.

I'm so sorry for the incredibly immensely heartbreaking loss of your father. I lost my dad when I was twelve years old. My children lost their dad two years ago after a long battle with metastatic melanoma. Losing one's father is never easy at any age. The only thing I would encourage you to do is take time to grieve. Feel all of your emotions now. It will help you work through your grief. Nothing about grief will ever fully go away. You'll just become accustomed to a new normal. You will be in my thoughts. I'm certain your father was proud of you. I do want to share how much you've helped me accomplish a connection with my oldest daughter. She is on the autism spectrum. She started loving sharks over the last year. I was looking for research and videos about sharks to try to find a bridge to help with gap between our abilities to communicate. I'm very sincere when I say that your videos have helped so much. You inform us about sharks in ways that are understandable and fun. Other videos and research were boring or too difficult to keep up with. I didn't even know how many shark species exist and how complex these animals are. So, thank you so very much for your help. You're an amazing young man.

Great video as always Kristian! Theoretically I don't see how this couldn't work. The only issue really, as it is with every endangered fish species, is overfishing. I honestly think that the world governments need to get round a table pronto and come up with a solution to this problem. With human populations only ever growing, it is becoming more and more a realistic scenario that many species of fish will go extinct within our lifetimes, certainly by the end of this century. Look forward to hearing that whale shark story. Wish you many condolences once again!

So sad about your Dad. All the best whishes, even though this time is going to be tough. Even though i watched almost every single video from you by now, your dad being sick still eluded me somehow. Its good that you put the text up on the screen so i was able to read it after stopping the video. I hope you and your family get trough this ordeal and again, all the best wishes. On another note, I have been rooting for your last video the last 2 days, seeing how much views it started to acquire, in that short period of time. It will probably become your most watched video to date, i am really excited about that. Sad that it is a shark attack video, because the background is so sad, but hey, i also found your channel when the last attacks in egypt happened a year ago, where i can still remember that at the time, the attacking spicies of shark was unknown, but you hit us up with a pinned comment about what the autopsy found it, which pointed at a tiger shark in both cases. I really appreciated that follow-up back then. Maybe the last few videos about that poor guy lost at sea and the tiger shark attack help your channel go gain a bit of momentum. I love your content and am always happy when a new video comes out. Kind regards, JD
