I wasn't aware that there was a problem in looking short when wearing a DBS. I've been wearing them often for 35 yrs.
@OneTalaw6 жыл бұрын
Its absolutely okay for shorter men to wear double breasted suits, it all a matter of proportions. The same can be said for a larger man wearing a suit, lapels, vents, pockets all need to come together to make the suit fit the person who is wearing it, i.e. the man should be wearing the suit, not the suit being worn on the man, there is a difference and if men do not know the difference, they need to read and or watch more on FIT and how it FUNCTIONS with the FABRIC with the individual wearing it. Great video, keep'em coming, as your advise is not just good for the vertically challenged but for EVERYONE who wishes to look not just good but the best they can be in their clothing!

Great topic! I am also thinking about a db suite. I think I will give it a try. The tips are good. Thank you! But I disagree with the 3. rule. The top two buttons on a 6x2 or 6x1 are just decorations and they stretch you optically like the buttons at the sleeve . The more important point from my view is the high of the neckline. The lower it is the better it looks. So the buttons have to sit as low as possible. And the notches or peaks of the lapels as high as possible. Anyway, your db suit looks great on the picture at Instagram. I found a great tailor for mtm stuff. I think I will go with chalk strips or window plane. Thank you for the video! Artur

I invested in a double breasted suit and it's one of the best choices I made my wife says it's one of the best she's seen because you don't see them very often and it is a real head turner I did have to give it a bit of a mod tho I removed the belt loops and made some side adjuster and always wear them with braces and to kill it off good old school penny starched detachable collar with tie by to have me feeling like nucky out of broadwalk empire

+Lenny Roman I've never bought a DB suit or jacket off the rack. The one I'm wearing is custom from a company called Knot Standard. I can't really recommend them b/c it took a lot of effort to get this suit to fit well after the initial make. Probably just had a bad experience, but still.

***** I would buy the best quality I could afford at any given time. Right now, I'm lucky to get most of my suits for free, usually as part of a sponsorship or review. But if I were to buy a new suit for myself right now, I would probably go full bespoke (never done that before), which would cost at least a couple thousand.

I’m short with very broad shoulders. Though I’m thin, young and look very nice naked, I look like a stupid monkey in a suit. Since the shirt and tie is less dominant/exposed on a DB suit, it visually corrects my wide areas and shortness.

I have to disagree with the 4 button suit, 6 button double breasted suit is much more classic than the 4 button. I think going to 4 button is too extreme, if we have to be so extreme about our clothing, then we should all be wearing nothing but 1 button suit, or even a 2 by 1 double breasted suit! nail the fit, shorter jacket, higher armhole and that's all it takes! Even Brock himself can make mistake, for example, he avoid a 6 button configuration, but... he have a TICKET POCKET ON HIS SUIT! AND A CUFF on his trouser, compare to 6 button suit, these 2 mistakes are 10 times more serious.

Does the color of a double breasted suit make a man look shorter? For example, will a black suit make a man look shorter whereas a grey may not make him seem as short?
@BrockMcGoff8 жыл бұрын
In general, dark colors are more slimming (cliche but true). But fit is more important than color. And a suit always works well - assuming it fits - because it's one color on your whole body (no stark contrast between your top and bottom halves). So I'd say pick the color you like best and don't worry about which makes you look taller. When in doubt, though, go dark (not black...navy or grey).

I don't think that double breasted suits look flattering on anybody--not even JFK, Jr.! They are as outdated as pleated pants and 3-button suits. I would recommend 2-button single-breasted suits. If you want to be a little different, then get a 3-piece suit (2-breasted suit + vest).

@danv87176 жыл бұрын
The Modest Man Actually it's true, you're just in denial. Short men tend to look like a boy in a suit, not a man. To look good in a suit you need two thing's, height and a good physique. Short guys, or heavyset guys rarely look good in a suit. If you don't believe me, put them next to a taller guy who is in killer shape and you tell me who looks better. There is a reason why models are taller and not shorter, it's because they look better in the clothes that they are modeling .
@BrockMcGoff6 жыл бұрын
If you’re actually short and not just trolling, I hope you realize someday how wrong you are about wearing suits. It’s all about fit. Any man can look great in a suit if it fits properly. Body type isn’t nearly as important as you think (look at Winston Churchill and MLK Jr.). Short and thin guys look great in suits too (look at Dave Franco or Aziz Ansari).
