Mufti Abu Layth mocks and laughs at people who say slavery is good, even "Islamic slavery" which is really ancient Arab slavery with Islamic injunctions added to it. No, it's not good. It was never good, it's not doing anyone a favor and we never want it to come back again.

Westerners were the ones who initiated the abolishment of Slavery in the 19th century across the world. The Muslim world were the last to abolish Slavery with the efforts of the westerners even though Islam never put an end to the institution of slavery and islamically slavery is halal till the day of judgement. Islam is for all times they say. In the 7th century when Islam originated, Slavery was considered normal and practised by all civilization back then. Islam was no different. Muslims used to have sex with their female slave acquired through waging war on infidel land even without marriage. They even sold their slaves in the slave markets which were very common back then. When you lose a war, you could lose everything. A Victor sleeping with your wife was considered too trivial. Now that the human minds evolved, the humans of 2018 consider this practise as immoral and disgusting. So is Islam outdated?

Check your facts. Westerners certainly had many slaves and many slaves died and suffered at their hands. However, Muslims have had more slaves over time and used to do things like March them through the Sahara. From where the slaves were captured and traded to the north of Africa. Where the arabs were. Read about such things and then get back to me.

@@suzmia8553 Yes. In the past I do believe we must shunned or systematically ban organized religions. However, I had to reinstate my position as that would be too authocratic and too harsh even from secular point of view. In that sense, any authocractic government can hijack the movement to systematically ban any other ideologies that "deemed" offensive just as what China did. IMO, that is abuse of human right and freedom of expression. Thus, I believe, to "cure" the Islamist mind virus, we must copy what Christian did in the past. A slow but steady reformation. The clear divide between government and church etc. Islam is ideological virus, that infect hosts from young age. And as any virus that gained a long standing foothole, to cure it would need a long and consistent treatment. Just as any drug withdrawal/substance abuse program. You dont detoxify immediately by banning the user from taking the drugs. You slowly reduce the dosage over period of time with consistent rate. We cannot fix drug abuse just by banning them immediately, and most common folks dont know this. Heroin, and Benzo withdrawal if stop abruntly, the users can die from seizure. Same as religion. Muslim would not embrace these "western values" immediately just by bombarding them with "debunked videos" etc etc. The change must came from the society itself. And I believe, by persuading slowly the society to reject Quran as "perfect" or "immutable", we are on the right course to reduce Islamist extremism. As such, we should welcome any statements from muslim that challenges the view of Islamic supremacism, as Muslim tends to still hear opinions from another muslim than a non-muslim kaffir.This is the strategy used by Maajid Nawaz. Islam indeed had influence cultures, and to outright rejecting culture will be too much for some lone individuals to bear. Thats why some ex-muslim did had depressive episodes as anecdotal observation from subreddit /r/exmuslim. Some of them indeed had suicide for not being able to widthstand this immense pressure. Thats why it is important for us to look at bigger picture. Those exmuslim would have hard time being in exmuslim in muslim majority countries because of stigma and inherent danger coming out as exmuslim.

I understand what your and I agree most of your saying, but reformation can only start when we realise the Quran is not the Word of God but from a Man who had some sort of Inspiration to deal with his society for his time. Making the Quran the Literal word of God is causing all and everyone to suffer even non muslims. God exists in peoples Heart not in a Written book, who ever wants to have faith should and whoever doesn't want have faith should have right to.

Islam does clearly allow slavery so what's wrong with this guy. It's also noteworthy that he calls it forbidden. Even though it was not forbidden in the past. If poork was forbidden in the past is it OK to legislate is as unforbidden now because of social presure? Poor islam it is being torn apart by time. "the Sunnah of Allah. And you will find no change in the Sunnah of Allah" quran. If slavery is immoral in Islam today, then it was immoral in Islam then....but it wasn't. If it was moral back then in Islam, then it's moral today. Because Allah is the one with perfect morals and he decides what is moral correct? "Today I have perfected for you your religion. Completed my favors and blessings on you and choose Islam as your religion" quran. Anybody who understands the tafsir of this last verse understands that what was made halal then, is halal today. And what was made Haram then, is Haram today. There is a lot of grey area in the fiqh of it all but shariah is shariah then and now. I'm glad Muslims are coming into the present with their mind frame but Islam is Islam. And if you claim it's from an all knowing, all wise God who is also all good and just and the source of morals then slavery should have never been allowed by Allah............

@Zack Smith lol Zack. Every one of the rashada khulifah had slaves...... Omar's killed him. This was after the prophets death and after "revelation" stopped coming down. Aisha had slaves after the death of Muhammad. Muhammad himself had and took and approved of his companions taking slaves (which makes it Sunnah, which makes it part of Islam) after these verses we're "revealed". The freeing of slaves was meant to expiate the sins of the "believers". You can pick and choose what you want to from Islam to paint the picture you want. The reality is as in taymiya said. "If a person's actions are 75 percent of the Sunnah and 25 percent of bida' then he is a person of the Sunnah. And if his actions are 75 percent bida' and 25 percent of the Sunnah, then he is of bida'." Because you have to judge a thing by it's entirety. And Islam, just like Judaism and Christianity, are more evil than they are moral. You people have just been brainwashed into thinking that the evil that "Allah/God" does is actually good and moral because your little books say so. I used to be brainwashed too.....it's not too late though bro. Everything starts with just asking the question why, honestly and objectively. Peace.
@nrgrlsd9931
@nrgrlsd9931 5 жыл бұрын
@Zack Smith but you can't refute any of the points I made can you? Am I wrong in what I said about the khulifah having slaves? Or Muhammad, after these verses we're revealed? Or Aisha? Or any of the other companions that had slaves? Shouldn't they have freed them all being that it's soooo righteous and virtuous? Your all knowing god SUPPOSEDLY said in quran that Muhammad was a good example for anyone who believes in Allah and the last day. Then your tyrannical prophet murdered a man and his sons and FORCED the man's daughter to marry him. He also killed her REAL husband. It's recorded in Hadith that she hated Muhammad for years while being forced to be his wife. If this is the beauty of Islam, you go ahead and keep that shit. How many sex slaves did Muhammad and his companions take? After killing these poor women's husbands and sons? For the aweful crime of........ NOT BELIEVING THE BULLSHIT THAT FELL FROM MUHAMMAD'S MOUTH. And this is the freedom that your precious quran gave to slaves? The quran allows a man to have sex with what his right hand possess. Those are slaves buddy. And I promise you that no woman who had a bunch of savages raid her village, kill her husband and son and force her into captivity and a new religion wanted to have sex with those poor excuses for human beings.......it's a survival tactic at that point. Because we all know how Muhammad dealt with people who opposed him don't we? Stupidity is you trying to make a pile of shit smell like a pile of roses. Islam makes more sense than Judaism or Christianity, I'll give you that. Hell, they had 600 years to improve upon an idea so it should be. But it is still a bunch of savage, primitive bullshit. The closest people to practicing Islam the way that Muhammad and his companions practiced Islam is isis, al shabab, Boko Haram, etc.....
