You should’ve reacted to the version at River Plate of The Jack as it’s legendary, the crowd was insane. AC/DC’s concert at River Plate is iconic for a reason. Plus you have to take into account that this song was written in the mid 70’s and performed by the original singer Bon Scott which will always be the best, very tongue in cheek, he had such charisma.
@RobertBreedon-c3b Жыл бұрын
Johnson singing Bon songs suck he just doesn't hit it like Bon did they need to stop playing the pre-1980 stuff cause I am sorry but Johnson is garbage singing these older songs.
@boki1693 Жыл бұрын
If you think this song is a wild topic, you should try "Big Balls" but that is more funny than sexual. Oh, this song is from the mid 70s with the original singer. ACDC has been around for a very long time. I saw them at Madison Sqaure Garden around 1977 or 78 for the Highway to Hell tour. That was the last album with the original singer who died shortly after. It was their breakout album in the states. We had heard of them and liked them before that but they were not a big band before this album. Many of their staple concert songs are actually from the period before they were super popular. ACDC were genius in what they did. They made simple songs but made them better than anyone else. They had a formula, stayed with the formula and became giants by doing so.

That was awesome. They have another song from this Munich concert that you should give a listen to. It is an old Bon Scott tune that Brian did brilliantly. The song is called "Up to my neck in you." Again, they were outstanding on this song. The original studio version of this song came off the 1978 album, Powerage. I'd suggest listening to both versions so you can hear how well Brian sang this one.😆

It is a true story written about the group of girls they lived with in Sydney Australia in the 1970's who apparently gave the band the Jack/VD.. They wrote the song and performed it at a gig with all the girls sitting in front of the stage and when they got to the line "She's Got The Jack" they pointed to the girls to embarrass them.. I grew up in Melbourne Australia and got to travel a lot in the Army and see so many Aussie rock bands in the late 60's through 80's
@sumonjamal1653 Жыл бұрын
Personally, I feel like this Munich 2001 performance was much better than the River Plate, Argentina 2009 show... Sadly, Malcolm Young (rhythm guitar) was already diagnosed w/ dementia and he was struggling on the 2008/ '10 tour for 'Black ice'... He was looking thin and frail and his guitar parts were somewhat muted in parts of the River Plate concert. AC/DC has released great live concerts from 1979 w/ Bon Scott on vocals ('Let there be Rock - the movie') recorded in France. "Live at Donington" (1991) recorded in England... 'No Bull' (1996) recorded in Spain... and this one ('Stiff upper lip live') in 2001 recorded in Munich, Germany... and there are sporadic live gigs that were filmed in their career. 'The Jack' was one of Bon Scott's early songs by AC/DC... original lyrics were different. This version of 'The Jack' was the more raunchy one that Bon Scott sang on the 1978 live album 'If you want blood - You've got it'... and Brian Johnson (who joined in 1980) went w/ the raunchy one 😂 The late Bon Scott was very creative w/ his lyrics in the area of sex, booze and rock n' roll... 'Big balls' was one of his early songs u can check out ("Everyone comes and comes again... If your name is on the guest list, no one can take you higher... Everybody says I've got great balls of fire!" 🔥🔥)... Or his ode to being broke - "Down payment blues" ('Got myself a Cadillac, but I can't afford the gasoline...") 'Dirty deeds done dirt cheap' is another fan fave about a hitman... "Go down" is a song that is exactly what u think it means 😁 'Whole lotta Rosie' was apparently inspired by Bon's 1-night stand w/ an overweight stripper in Tasmania ... a year later, Bon went looking for her and was allegedly disappointed that she had lost weight 😂 'Ride on' was a subtle AC/DC song in blues style, and the lyrics were a bit sad ("Got another empty bottle, and another empty bed...") because Bon did pass away after drinking too much 1 night... "Shot down in flames" was about him being told off after hitting on a woman he thought was 'available for services' 😂

A whole lotta Rosie was supposed to be about some fat chick the band was banging after some concert and the jack of course refers to VD and again this was supposed to have been something the band picked up off of some girl they were all doing back in their younger party days. Lyrics and song done originally by Bon Scott whose 14 year old boy sensibilities, lent to all sorts of double entendres, and songs about women.
