i have a 7900xtx and it only went up to 144hz on a 180hz moniter if you are in a similar situation go to amd software go to display turn on freesync and virtual super resolution in the display section

My solution was- Shut down, swap from displayport to hdmi, boot with hdmi, shutdown again and back to DP. Booting with HDMI fixed the bug... For some reason switching from DP to HDMI unlocked the refresh rate options in advanced settings and still worked when I went back to Display Port, dunno why but it worked. I tried everything short of a full fresh windows install; I did reinstall windows but kept my files, unplug and replug the DP cable from the gpu and monitor, restart, delete and reinstall the factory display driver, install new display driver, messed with GPU settings and drivers etc... Nothing worked until I found a random redit post- similar problem same solution (he was stuck at 1hz tho!) I hope this saves someone hours of smashing their head against a wall

If the frame rates doesn't show, it might you're not updating your graphic card drive. I'm using GTX 1050, and not install NVIDIA driver update app before on my pc and the frame rate option for the monitor not showing, because the PC using windows basic display or whatever I forgot lol. And then someone told me to install the driver, check the update and then suddenly the frame rate option for the monitor is showing and I can choose whatever hz that my monitor and my graphic card can run.

video helped straight away as he explains at minute 3:00 I was plugging the hdmi into the the hdmi plug that didnt support the maximum refresh rate that I could have on this monitor , so this monitor that i m currently using is got 2 hdmi and 1 display port , the first doesnt support more than 30hz the ,second hdmi does and it is what I just did inserting it into the second, its strange as its a samsung monitor running at 4k 60hz max, well thanks for the video mate

I am having an issue that when using Display Port, as I have for years, I suddenly cannot use 144hz though it has worked just fine in the past. I switch to HDMI 2.0 everything works fine. But, again, Display Port will not do the 144hz.

Thanks so much. I was using my other monitors hdmi cable thinking it would work with this new monitor but it didnt. Found the dp cord that goes with this and it changed from 100 hz to 165 hz displays.

I just bought an RTX 3060 TI and had GTX 1070 as well and now I only have 60hz! ive been told to get an Displayport cable and went and got one and it still shows 60hz and even lower max resolution! have u fixed it ?

maybe it is a driver problem. Try search for drivers on your monitor's manufacturer website. There might be a crucial driver that you are missing.@@GAZPLE

@3:53 did it for me. I spent like an hour dicking around with my device manager and Nvidia conroller and after all that I just had to go into the physical monitor controller and select 144hz

i just bought this monitor: AOC 2460PF, that can go at 144hz, i have the displayport cable that they give me with the monitor and an HDMI aswell, i don't know what type of HDMI so i just used it and it coulndt go further than 60hz. So i tryed the displayport one and not only it couldnt go more than 60hz but it didnt even had a good resolution. I installed the newest drivers aswell (i believe) so what could be the problem?

@@jersonescober9322 yes, i needed to use displayport tho. I simply tried to re-insert it again and turning on and of the monitor and the pc and it worked i dunno how tho, probably the cable was just insert badly lol. Hope it could help for you

i thinkits because of my drivers but if i install the newest drivers the screen would run at a very low res and would still only work with 60hz. my previous card (GTX 750 i) worked just fine with the same hdmi kable btw. and now i have a GTX 1050 ti and it wont work

@@bruhmoment8555 it’s a drivers problem and I have not fixed it because windows won’t accept the drivers windows thinks the drivers from 2007 is the most up to date ver.

Turned on my computer to find out that for some reason my second monitor has no signal with display port I've unplugged and replugged, checked drivers, inspected the monitor, switched display ports and cables, and don't know what's wrong I tried HDMI too (THIS ONE DOES GET DETECTED) but for some reason im capped at 60 fps on the monitor even when i switch to PC resolution have no clue what seems to be the problem it was working fine a few hours ago.

But my problem is the motherboard have slots just for hdmi and dvi. Soo i use a dvi cable..but i can t set 144hz from settings, i am stuck with 60hz...why? I bought a monitor to connect to my laptop, so essentially using my laptop as the second screen and my Lenovo y25 - 25 as my main screen. I tried setting the refresh rate to 240Hz, but whenever I opened a game in fullscreen it would stutter (CSGO, LoL, Terraria) and some games would just stay black (Minecraft) Setting the Hz back to 60Hz, they worked fine. I did not experience any problems outside of fullscreen games. I still don't know how to fix it, I hoped your video could help me but sadly not. Does someone know what to do?

Before comments pile up, I'd like to congratulate you on your videos, they helped me a lot! I'd like to see a video on how to delete the undeletable massive 13GB .sys file that occurs in the C drive when you put the pc in hibernation all the time. I tried Wise Force Deleter and it can't delete it. Also how to remove security protection from a USB flash drive. I made a mistake and bought one of those and it does not let me transfer certain random files I saved in there. My files. I can access hem but can't move them over to another USB or hard drive. I myself prefer the cable with the correct Connectors on each end as it evades potential and additional Error source. The Adapter and its connections. Of course you have to make sure to buy the correct cable and also check the directionality of the cable.

Random tip: make sure your cable is FULLY seated I was getting 144 hz and just pressed firmly and now I am at 240 hz and the food lord intended

I just got a new acer 4k monitor last week, which can go up to 144hz and can only get 85hz using a display port cable that goes up to 8k. I suspect its the video card that is at fault is an old nvidia gtx780. I am getting a new pc very soon which has intel i9 and and Nvidia 3070 just been waiting for it to be built

Check in the manual which type of cable you would need to connect to get the 144HZ. It might be the GPU. But look it up first. Because my Monitor wants a DP cable to be 240HZ.

windows 10 forgot my samsung sync 16:10 -It had windows drivers then with laer patches microsoft gave the monitor a shaft and now drivers since then -another reason not to use windows 10(or 11)
