i realised you hardly ever talk about exfoliation and acids, and i get that you have sensitive skin. i have rosacea and i find that if you do it sparingly (once a week or so), and buffered with a moisturiser before, acids can work wonder. especially ultra-gentle ones like PHA. be refreshing to see content beyond barrier repair/soothing once in a while Kelly!

Yep try to sneek in when I can but with tret it's hard! My content reflects what I know and experience!

I’ve used the Paula’s Choice 2% salicylic acid toner for more than 6 years 5x a week. Recently I switched to The Ordinary 2% salicylic acid serum and have been purging (not breaking out imo) for the past 8 weeks and counting. I did not foresee this happening and wondering if my skin had got so used to PC that it wasn’t doing anything/ hardly doing anything for years after skin acclimated? Also strange as I’ve been using other exfoliants in my skin cycling routine like Tret, niacinamide & lactic acid for years. It’s seriously damaged my skin confidence but I’m pushing through and hoping it will clear out in the next few weeks. I tried out Stratia Vitamin C serum yesterday and was soo pleased with the matte finish for my oily skin. All vitamin c’s I’ve tried in the past have been greasy af. Hope I love it as much as your mumma!

Could you link where the claims about 10% niacinamide are coming from? As far as I knew it had studies only up to 5%.

In the beginning of my skin care journey, I broke out so bad from using the Ordinary Niacinamide just two times! It immediately felt reactive on the skin. Since then, I've come to love the ingredient in lower percentages. Who knows, maybe my skin has acclimated by now.

The ordinary went crazy with the 10% niacinamide and unfortunately the rest of the skin care industry followed suit. I read somewhere that current research shows the ideal is 2-5%.

Great video as always Kelly thank you, but I have one question. You said that you religiously use tretinoin now from Agency (which has other ingredients as well). How do you know if the pimples going down is because of those products you mentioned or it is because of tret?

Rewind would slot into your serum step, tret is just before or after your moisturizer, should be no issue to use in same routine!

Have you had any good experience with PHA's ? I am seeing so many Korean brands coming out with gentle PHA's , I have only tried the inkey list toner, which I have been able to use once every week-week and half. Very curious about the gentle PHA formulations coming out these days
