A pro tip from my derm: make sure you are consuming the omega fatty acids, your healthy lipids, be it through fish or supplements, to improve the quality of the oil you produce.

This is so timely! I currently have two blemishes on my face in places I don't normally get them! I've actually started getting more clogged pores AFTER starting to take care of my skin. It's glowing and the texture is lot more smooth but I've had more blemishes in the past 2 months than I've had my entire life. Battling dry skin AND clogged pores is a feat!

I feel you! I think that when I clean out my pores, my dehydration is trying to pull in more into those pores. So, I am so glad video included dehydration and barrier care. I had a hunch about this and Kelly definitely helped me confirm this.

Focusing on lowering the inflamation on my skin has been a game changer. Also adding a cleanser with Benson peroxide just helps so much to reduce the congestion on my cheeks!

Yaas to that benzoyl peroxide! It's an oldie, but goodie!! I've tried salicylic acid this year and it doesn't destroy the acne as fast as BP. I do love SA for my blackheads and I have yet to try Kelly's suggestion on putting a clay mask over. Gotta watch more KZbin videos to find some options.

This is one of the most helpful videos I’ve ever found on this topic! I need to add an oil cleanser back in and try propolis! I have found adapelene to be SO effective against extra inflammation my very clog-prone skin seems to suffer from. I agree that azelaic acid, snail mucin, and the Make Prem toner have been absolute game changers for my skin!! Thank you so much for putting this all together!

For those who prone to clogged pores from coconut oil, 5:54 Paula's Choice 10% Azelaic Acid Booster has Caprylic/Capric Triglyericide high up in the ingredients list. If they are going to charge as much, they should put a fatty acid or oil-based ingredient that is not pore clogging. There are so many oils out there that are non-comedogenic. Coconut is not one of them. "Caprylic triglyceride, or capric triglyceride, is a compound that combines fatty acids from natural oils, such as coconut oil, with glycerin."
@angelicareynosa8052

Omg I know this is my biggest struggle. I cannot find a good moisturizer without squalane or caprylic capric triglycerides. These both can clog my pores. And once I get those commodones they will stay for months with no end I'm sight. I jist got rid of most of my commodones after stopping all the coconut derives fave washes and squalane. I also react with commodones to licorice root,urea,soy bean or oil or castor oil. This leaves me with not much left for moisturizer. I've been been using this stuff called dermaxgen moisturizer but it's really not a face cream it does not moisturize well.
@czechmatey

@@angelicareynosa8052 Oof I know this feeling too well! Try pure hemp oil if you double cleanse. It's a 0 on the comedogenic scale. For moisturizer, I'm still on the hunt. Currently using a CBD Cream but I'm also still on the hunt as well.
@mandywong1408

Wowza! You both sound like you have a PhD in commodones. I am so thankful for both of your comments as I didn't understand why I keep clogging up even when I try to buy good products.
@czechmatey

@@mandywong1408 What helped me was double cleansing every time I wash my face and then following with a chemical exfoliator. The snail mucin also seems to help. I don't have as many issues now and can use a few types of moisturizers though I still don't use ones with coconut oil. 7 months later and I'm still on the hunt for the right moisturizer. It's a challenge. Good luck on your journey!

Hmmm I’m gonna have to try azalaic acid I think. Because I’m the same. I use SA consistently but I still have to manually extract them every week, especially on my chin (I use a specific tool for this). I’m tired of doing this and just want something that will keep my pores clear 😭

Thanks so much for all these comments about blackheads. I'm hoping to work my way towards tret and AA. I'm slowly trying to get my skin used to retinol. I use it with the sandwich method, but I was wondering if it's ok to use it after a serum like Beauty of Joseon propolis niacinamide serum?

I like to use emulsion to soften my skin while I'm bathing. It helps not only to soften the skin, also it's really a gentle way to loosen up the dirt and oil on my face! all you have to do is, after your oil cleanser you just apply thick layer of emulsion and let it sit for 10〜15minutes(the bathrooms steem will work as a steamer) and wash off with your normal facial cleanser(you can replace it with enzyme powder wash)

I like to use Azeliac acid in the morning (a serum from face theory or Sam Bunting’s brightly serum) so that I’m not dependent on my compounded tret to get azeliac acid. I’ve seen a big difference in using it every morning since I can’t tolerate my tret every day. My tret also has some topical spironolactone, which has helped with oil production (which wasn’t helped by other products such as 5% niacinamide and other oil production decreasing ingredients). I know it’s a journey, but not having all that oil on my skin has definitely helped my skin feel more balanced and stop clogs from happening…

I think this is very dependent on individual skin. I use it right now as a serum before a thicker moisturizer because it’s currently very cold and dry where I live. Come summer, I think I’ll be able to use it as my daytime moisturizer before spf and be fine stopping there.
@KellyDriscoll
@KellyDriscoll 2 жыл бұрын
@Opalescenttreeshark has the right answer here, it's really flexible based on your skin needs. I use it just before moisturizer because while it has moisture it lacks occlusivity which my combo/dry skin desperately needs! But I also know a lot of people who love it as a moisturizer! YMMV!
