I love cruising on mine. I also wouldn't keep it pinned at 75 mph on the freeway though. No boost in my back pocket to make a quick escape if I need it. This bike just loves sitting at 60 mph anyway. Sounds the happiest and runs the smoothest in that 55 - 65 mph range. That's where I keep mine.

It'll do the highway no problem ( with touring windshield) at 70 unless there's a big headwind and you're going somewhat uphill. Then you have to shift down to fourth and max speed is 50. One thing is for sure the bike is still smooth at 70 miles an hour. I gave it to test from Los Angeles to Vegas recently. Highways are fine because there's no cross traffic to worry about and you really feel like you're soaring on a plane

5th gear is overdrive so maximum acceleration is in 4th not 5th.
@letni9506 Жыл бұрын
Does it struggle that much? I know it almost hits 70 in 4th so I'd have thought with the torque you could hold 60 easily up all but the steepest hills if you're willing to rev the bike?

@@randyolson6621 We are the same height and vintage. I used to ride a 1973 Triumph Daytona 500cc. That was about as big a bike as I felt comfortable with in terms of seat height and weight. So, kudos to you for riding the 750. I was surprised to read that the Meteor actually weighs more than the Daytona (421 lbs versus around 380 lbs). What's up with that ? Maybe RE should ditch the electric starter. Anyway, I tried sitting on the RE Interceptor and found it just too high and too heavy for comfort. I was on tip toes and, because of that, it was a serious struggle to get it upright from the side stand. So that is a show stopper. There was no Meteor to compare with. So, I am curious about how you find the seat height on your Meteor: Is it low enough that you can get your feet fully flat ? If so, does that help compensate for the additional weight ? This is the only issue stopping me from pre-ordering. Otherwise the Meteor seems perfect. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

@@danparker123 Congratulations Dan, the yellow is beautiful, I have the red. The performance is peppier as you go thru the gears and open the throttle, not in top end. If you decide to purchase it, once you've installed it let it idle for 15 minutes and then ride it gently for around 3 miles.😎

It is been confirmed by multiple folks "in the know" that the Meteor is speed limited to 120kmph (74.56mph) by the ECU (possibly due to some tax laws in India?). Apparently dealers in Brazil can and do remove the limiter because the fuel there is a higher ethanol mix and something, something...(?) but the rest of us are out of luck.

5th gear is an overdrive gear. It would be difficult to continue accelerating in 5th gear. When accelerating try shifting to 4th gear and using 5th for cruising and reducing RPMs once top speed has been reached.

Basically, this. On the rare occasion that I take my Meter 350 on the highway, I keep it around 60 mph so I have a burst of speed on reserve if I need it. Haven't needed it yet. But would hate to be going 75 mph (electrically limited top speed) and realize I need to zip off but can't.
@marvinidler22892 жыл бұрын
I don't get the "escape" thing. I never needed to accelerate to "escape" a dangerous situation. How do the semi trucks survive? They go as fast as the electronic limiter allows them over here, which is just above 80 kph (50 mph). No chance to "escape", no problem at all.

@@marvinidler2289 If you've never had to accelerate out of bad spot, you probably drive on relatively empty or unimaginably civilized roads.
