I love this episode. Robot fights are always a win. Also, personal opinion, wily's fodder robots>eggman's fodder robots, but eggman's peak robots>wily's peak robots. But the outcome is honestly accurate imo.

It was the secret final boss in sonic heroes, you can only battle it by collecting all the chaos emeralds, the reason Metal sonic betrayed both Eggman and Wily is because he often breaks from the control of others, hence why roboenza didn't stop him from attacking Wily

Well (and I know this is years later) but it's also Willy, who is ironically the weakest and in the grand scheme of things a rather short lived Megaman villain, it's not until X through Legends where we get the foes who all just casually break all the laws of reality. But still mad doctor vs mad doctor is a fun theme.

Nowadays if they were to do this battle, Dr Eggman would win. Sonic in general is just a much more powerful rival than Classic MegaMan. And Eggman’s robots have been said to destroy galaxy’s (Egg Wizard) to even Universes’s (Egg Salamander) Wily’s robots don’t come close to that level of power. Also Eggman’s speed is insane. Being able to react to Massively faster than Light Super Sonic puts him way above Wily. In general, Eggman himself could probably solo Wily’s army. Robot Masters also haven’t shown the same feats as Eggman’s high tier creations.

... I don't understand why Zero wasn't included. Zero is Wily's greatest creation, not Bass. Zero is also the one who housed the Maverick virus in his body, the ultimate version of Dr. Wily's virus that eventually spread to the entire world. And they just left that out. But to be fair, Zero wasn't activated until well after Wily's death...

So you would be (Unless I've missed some) 7-3-3. 7 correct, 3 incorrect and 3 where the outcome wasn't what you predicted, but realistically no one could have predicted as it wasn't presented as an option. I'm not sure what you're referring to, unless you heavily disagreed with their recent outcomes, but most Death Battles are taken quite seriously. Nowadays, they have three teams of researchers doing the research, a full animation staff, multiple writers and editors for EACH battle. They also literally gather everyone (generally around 40 or so people) to argue about the winner, and don't declare the episode finished until every single person has agreed on the winner and nobody can come up with any more arguments. The episodes have some jokes, but they are serious about the research and results. This stands in great contrast to Season 1, which is what we're currently going through, where literally everything is done by one guy with almost no budget and given two weeks to make the entire episode because ScrewAttack had no confidence in the series. A lot of this earlier stuff is iffy, but under the circumstances, you can't really blame anyone. The one guy doing all this gave Metal Sonic the win because, in the couple of hours he had to deliberate with whomever he could find on the winner, he felt that there was nothing in Wily's arsenal that could stand up to Metal Sonic, and he couldn't see a future where Wily didn't use his Roboenza as a last-ditch effort. A unique ending, but understandable given the context of how Season 1 was created.

They kinda are similar, but they went in different directions. Wily came first, by about 5 years. Eggman established a robotic army, and pretty much tried to seize any available power and resource to try to take over the world. Wily, oddly enough, went from a scientist who stole his partner’s inventions, to literally the end of the world and humanity many times over. There are like 4 or so mega man franchises, that span hundreds of years, the general plots have heroes dealing with things wily had set up centuries in advance. My memory is hazy on eggman though.. he went from using animals to power his robot army, to gathering the chaos emeralds, to arbitrarily recruiting or inventing new villains to help in his plans. I guess In short... eggman lived in the moment, wily planned for the future...
