Do you know you are playing with auto steer? EDIT: 23:37 Yes, he does. Kind of wish he said something about it at the beginning. Although maybe the challenge is near impossible otherwise anyway.

He played for an hour without it and couldn't even get close to beating the mushroom cup. Characters getting desynced with smart steering is already problematic but without it it's an auto lose because desyncs spiral out of control and both characters just die over and over. At that point there isn't really much strategy or nuance to the challenge, it's just luck which is kinda boring. The special cup took him 4 hours so the amount of luck you'd need to get through while keeping both characters synced the entire time is likely near impossible.

It's impossible without smart steering. If you mess up or get hit the karts get desynced and you basically auto lose. You have to get lucky with CPU placements not getting hit or bumped avoiding off-road. The challenge would then just be "get lucky" which isn't a very entertaining video
