I have always said to never underestimate the early-game Bug-types. They can pull through when it matters most. Gen 1 Pokemon: "Ah, yes, Butterfree. That adorable little butterfly, who gives us an early taste of evolution, before its limited stats force us to part ways. Why, I'm sure we all remember how sad Ash was, when he had to let his go, even though it, too, had long-started to falter, in battle. Let us cut to it now, in its natural habitat. Butterfree (turning to us with glowing eyes of power, away from the Dragonite it just sleep powdered unconscious): Free?

The minute I saw Alakazam come out with mimic unused I was like ... "wait ... surely not?" I can't believe that didn't just break the game tbh

Butterfree is great, always carries my gen 1-3 nuzlockes for atleast the first few gyms then becomes the perfect sacrificial lamb whenever i need him. Honestly if it somehow learned explosion or self destruct itd be my favorite pokemon to use ever

I love that the #2 solo runner in the biz, the dude responsible for developing so much of the metagame and community around it, is just chilling down here, barely noticeable.

These are probably the best solo runs on KZbin. I really like how it’s not just clickbaity random challenge. It’s actually really fun comparing each Pokémon wondering where it will come in on the tier list Being shocked where a Pokémon comes. Like gastly for example and how just because a Pokémon is unable to learn one move it can be the difference between A and C or even D tier.

I have a soft spot for Butterfree as it featured on my team for Yellow for the whole game

That champion battle... From the mimic strat to the ending time was so dumb that it was Brilliant and I loved it. I had a good day and this was just the cherry on top, a great way to start winding the day down. With that said though, I would like to see the moth version of our butterfly friend does in this one. (Venomoth) It has better stats and a better move pool could be good as well.

Butterfree is the superior gen 1 bug, but man, I don't think anyone would ever use mimic like that in the final battle

Butter free is actually one my favorite gen 1 Pokémon everyone remembers using one for Brock if they had Charmander and in the anime, I honestly think it’s my favorite early bug Pokémon.

Butterfree is not an insect. It only has 4 legs.
@AhsimNreiziev Жыл бұрын
@@justinmadrid8712 It's literally a Bug-type, so yes it's an insect. Besides, who says that the definition of "insect" is necessarily the same in the Pokémon world as it is in ours? Also: what the hell were you thinking telling a *literal Entomologist* what is and isn't an insect?

@@AhsimNreiziev I may not be an Entomologist, but as a kindergarten graduate, I can tell you for a fact that insects have six legs. Also, 'real' insects exist in the Pokemon world. For example, there is a mosquito in the Old Amber item, and 'real' butterflies can be seen flying around in Sword and Shield and X/Y. Multiple Pokemon are stated to prey on bugs, such as Horsea. I really don't think they mean Horsea is eating Caterpie and Weedle in the ocean. In the anime, you can see Pidgey eat a worm in the first episode, so 'real' animals exist, meaning Pokemon are not insects, they are Pokemon. 'Real' insects exist along side of Pokemon. Butterfree is not an insect. It is a bug-type Pokemon. Also, I was just making a stupid joke lol.
@feartheoldblood7222 Жыл бұрын
@@AhsimNreiziev it's ok. Just let them have their fun. If they get enjoyment being all technical on a KZbin comment about a Butterfree let them. I still approve this run.

I remember leaning heavily on Butterfree on my first play through of Pokémon Blue back when I was a kid discovering Pokémon. This was so validating to see Butterfree do so well over 20 years later

16:21 Hydro Pump is probably a level 1 move for Gyarados. Maybe you should do a Gyarados run and see!
@velvetbutterfly Жыл бұрын
In Yellow it starts with Tackle only. In Red/Blue it starts with Bite, DragonRage, Leer, HydroPump, which is its full moveset prior to Hyperbeam at 52. This also means you could delete a move and relearn it later

Before I would spend more time on the game getting Butterfree as a kid was one of the first main objectives and I'd keep one the whole way. Poison, sleep, hp recovery and mad damage on tap.
