Thank you for this tutorial! I’m a newbie and after reading the comments I went down 1/2 a hook size and held a tighter tension. It came out perfect. I did change the last slip stitch to a single crochet. It took me a lot longer than 2 hours, but at least it turned out great!

Ty very much! I have tasked myself with knitting or crocheting about 60 items for fam and friends before Christmas! Finished 18 items! I say all of this to say I’m ALWAYS looking for a faster way to create! My downfall has been having to do video crochet or knit alongs having to pause and work or follow a written pattern! When u so SIMPLY gave out the number of DCs between each increase, according to the round, that was something I cld jot down easily and over time, memorize-as u suggested! U have a lovely, calm demeanor and I love your teaching style! Ty for really thinking this through from the LEARNER’S perspective!! Awesome sauce🤣.

18 items is AWESOME! That's some serious work!😄😄 This makes me so happy to read! I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone with this one to try something new and make a video unlike any other on my channel. I really wanted it to be educational, but also interesting to watch if someone has no interest in making the hat.

I make toys, including a ball, for rescued cats that I use the BLO style in the round. I find it gives a lovely, ridged spiral pattern and texture. So this is a no brainer for me! BLO for the win!! 💟😽

Happy to have purchased the pattern. It took me a little while longer than 2 hours only because I kept reading the wrong line and having to frog my work back. Being able to print the pattern to follow along with will be a big help! Looking forward to seeing how much time I really take to finish another hat from this pattern (working with solid black was hard!)

New to your channel. Thanks for this tutorial. Yay I made it 1 hr 33 mins maybe because I only did 7 rows of brim because I only had 109 yards. I have several balls of Premier Just Active yarn I bought from Dollar Tree (now $1.25 each ball) so I wanted to know if it was enough. I used 5mm hook. Fits my head with good stretch and it's a very nice hat. I will make more. Thank you 😊

One of the reasons I love crocheting hats so much is because they can be so speedy to whip up. One of my absolute favorites to make is the granny stripe hat, it's lightweight and I can make one in about 45 minutes to an hour. Variations on a double crochet hat are easily done in two hours or less as well.

I can whip out a simple worsted weight hat in around an hour, and most hats in less than 2 depending on the complexity of the pattern. But I've also been crocheting for 40+ years. That being said, I don't always crochet with that kind of focus. It's not about how fast you get there, it's about the journey, too! I find that the more pressure involved in finishing an item on a deadline, the less I enjoy to process.

@bessiegilliland32452 жыл бұрын
Increase is just 2 DC in one stitch. She does an increase in the first st then 1 DC in the next stitch and repeat around. The next row is increase in first stitch then 1 DC in each of the next 2 stitches and repeat around. The next row will have an increase then 1 DC in next 3 stitches repeat around. The last row of increases will have an increase in first stitch and 1 DC in next 4 stitches repeat around. I hope this helps.

Thanks for doing this cute hat love it I will use dk yarn I think you call it weight 3.xx
@bhookedcrochet2 жыл бұрын
I actually used a #4 yarn for this one so a DK weight will probably turn out too small. Definitely check your gauge before you get too far into it 👍
@deborahm44842 жыл бұрын
@@bhookedcrochet thanks so much for reply I will use 4 weight so.💙💙
@lauren2192 жыл бұрын
I tried the large one but think my gauge is off because my hat was finished and the right size/length by the time I reached row 17 🙈 I still like it, although I may play around with the slip stitch edge because it just made it more snug than I'd prefer. The crown was the right size by round 4, so not sure what happened with the rest 😄
@lauren2192 жыл бұрын
Narrowed it down to my yarn being aran weight, but one of the thicker/fluffier types and me not being a very tight crocheter. I have a different yarn I think will work better, so ill report back when I've tried that 👍

Same! My hat is a little too big for my head. I rolled up the bottom and it looks better. Not too bad for my first hat. I was glad to see your comment though because I crocheted too loose for the first 6 rounds, I believe.

I’m at the end of round of round six. I’m still working in a spiral. Do I continue that on the sides? I’m confused as to how to end those rows even on the bottom since we don’t slip-stitch at the end of the row. Pretty sure I’m not making sense but hopefully someone understands. 😊

Thanks for the time challenge which I welcome! I've never timed myself in crochet work. So this is fun! However, I stopped at 1 hour 27 mins with a length of 10.5 inches at row 23. I used a 4 weight yarn and 5mm hook, but 4.5mm on the band. Any advice? What is the supposed finished measurement based on your pattern on the two sizes?

Love it especially cause Xmas is upon us and I do a lot of solidarity crochet for hospitals and senior homes and if I add speed I can make even more ☺️ Do you have any tips for fast berets? i really struggled with those can't get the size right ( I mess up the decreases a lot some get huge other get weird and tiny 😱) Older folks like berets more than bennies (especially here in Europe berets are all time favorites)... I make bennies for the kids and teens 😎 more cool vibe 😅.

It’s pretty easy. The crown is done by increasing. Each row has a different amount of hdc between each increase. Once the crown is done you simply move on to hdc rows. I think she said 7 rows.(haven’t downloaded the pattern yet). The band is great and easy also. For a beginner you just have to get used to finding that back bar. Once you get it you get it 😀
