Stick trades, though undeniably a great source of emeralds, aren't actually the best trade for quick and easy emerald acquisition. That would be clay trades; you have no idea how quickly you can get a full stack of emeralds with just a few mason villagers and a nearby river.

If you assume that the chicken supply doubles every hour when hatching (from 8 eggs/hour/chicken and 1 chicken / 8 eggs), then a bit of calculus shows that the minimum amount of time to collect N eggs starting from n chickens would be lg(N*e*ln(2)/(8 n)), and the optimal strategy would be to spend the last 1/log(2) hours (about 1.44) collecting eggs and the rest of the time multiplying chickens. For N=10 million, starting from 100 chickens, this would mean about 13 hours multiplying chickens and about 1.5 hours collecting eggs, or about 44 in-game days total. If you could get 100 chickens and all storage and egg dispensers built in under 56 days, this would be possible. What's interesting is that no matter how many chickens you start with and how many eggs you want to collect, the optimal strategy is always to spend 1/log(2) hours, about 4.3 in-game days, collecting eggs, and the rest of the time spent multiplying chickens. Egg.

If an egg somehow just magically appeared, it would only be an egg, & it would rot or be eaten. If a _fertilized_ egg magically appeared, it would still rot or be eaten, unless some warm animal decided to keep it warm, which is possible but improbable. And chickens... well let's face it, neither eggs nor chickens just appear like that. (Unless the Biblical Creation story is true & literal, in which case the chicken certainly would've come first. Though even if it IS true, it's more likely that it occurred over millennia, with the "clay" that formed all living things being the so-called 'primal ooze', the mass of single-celled organisms slowly evolving into more complex forms. Thus faith & science can peacefully coexist. But I digress.) Chickens formed through evolution of avid type dinosaurs, into primitive birds, into eventually jungle fowl, which we eventually tamed & called chickens. So it them becomes a matter of gray area... At which point did the jungle fowl truly become what it was when discovered by humans? That of course can be debated for ages, especially since enduring fossils of "missing links" became quite rare over time due to various altered conditions. It would have to be a case of the first genetic mutant to have exclusive jungle fowl traits that it could then pass down through future generations. One whose parents didn't quite count. (Or, maybe it would instead be the offspring of a pair with the same mutations, which properly secured the future bloodlines?) In truth, evolution is fluid & full of various coincidences, & sometimes large variations within even a single specie. So we likely couldn't truly pinpoint the very first true jungle fowl even if we were there to witness. However... that chick would still have been born from an egg. Meaning that the egg, indeed, came first. *_(Puts on her knitted cat-ear hat with Deltarune pins on it, nods in parting, & vanishes.)_*

I'm actually glad this isn't a hardcore challenge. I've been actively avoiding those because, personally, I think they ruin videos like this. What's the point in a creator delaying a video and causing themselves stress just so we can see some hardcore hearts in the bottom? If you die, then you have to start over and we don't get that play-through in video form (usually), so it's a moot aspect of the challenge. Heck, I'd prefer it with keepInventory on just so we can avoid the ol' frantic run back underground with no equipment before your stuff despawns routine we've all seen thousands of times. Obviously, if Aust gets something out of it himself, power to him. I'd just like to let him know that there are certain subsections of the audience that appreciate the effort going in other directions.
