"Why is there suffering? Because there is sin in the world." And why is there sin in the world? Because God gave both angels and men free will to love and obey, which makes possible the choice not to love and obey. The alternative would be for God to create automatons, incapable of knowing and loving Him. We are born into a great spiritual battleground we didn't choose because a third of the angels chose not to serve God and His creative plan and our first parents sinned as well. The saints tell us that if we knew the spiritual value of suffering, we would pray for more suffering.

ELISEE RECLUS God is all loving, therefore he gives us free will to choose. And logically, a world where creatures are inherently free to choose more good than evil is a more valuable and meaningful world where creatures aren’t inherently free. I suggest you look into InspiringPhilosophy on KZbin. He deals with arguments such as the problem of evil as well as many objections towards God. They are all philosophical, logically, and scientifically sound.

Dear Patricia, I’m not sure who said it first, but I hold on to it deeply within my heart: There are only two types of suffering: wasted and redemptive. I pray that you have the courage, strength and perseverance to unite any & all suffering to our Lord’s Passion and offer it for your needs and those of the Holy Souls in Purgatory. 🙏

@9:50 The question of "Why are we here?" And from there on, a thought provoking talk by Fr. Miller. Brings to my mind meditation on Psalm 139, when I memorized it and this talk is a beautiful reminder of it. Listen to this talk & read Psalm 139. It is awesome to meditate on God's unlimited love for us. You can go into all kinds of meditations on God's word. Thank you for profound talk, Fr. Miller, I said 3 Hail Mary's for you. 💕

Human nature is such that without some self confidence they would fail. For they do not possess the inane instincts animals are given, although at some level human are animals. But through Faith, and with Hope they endure and achieve. It is why Faith and Hope enter.

Don, I, too, struggle with the worthiness aspect of our Merciful God. I copied an excerpt that helped me & I hope it helps you: “...But this mercy is, in a way, called for, not by reason of our own merits, but because of his own fatherly affection for us and because he sees the change in us that his father’s love will produce. His mercy reflects God’s true judgment on us as being not his ‘undeserving poor’ but his own beloved children.” By Father John Dominic Corbett, O.P.

The word hate is appropriate, because anyone that is not denied by their family in their opposition to God's will, you maintain a duty before God to your family and their hope for salvation. When St. Francis was locked in a room with a prostitute, what other recourse did he have? But I? My family sinned against God in their ignorance and misunderstanding of his directions. Is it right then for me to leave them? Is it not right for me to sacrifice myself even further to lead them by the hand to what is true and right. If they slap my hand and refuse to follow me and spit on my intentions.. what else then can I do? But that is not what happened in my case. If I love my wife and family, yet see the greatest need of the Church, and my family is so well formed they no longer require my direction, what else is there but to offer my service and myself and bring my matrimony into perfection with the consent and permission from one oath for another. There is no contradiction here. There is no contradiction in God. You might not understand every word, but those who find themselves in that situation will understand. Be happy, father, if you struggle to grasp some things. To understand them is to know them. How do you describe what you have not witnessed?
