I lived in California, USA, for 32 years. I figured to purchase a home in Los Angeles, I needed 1.5 million. In 2014, I traveled to El Salvador to explore moving in opportunities. So, after 5 years, analyzing the culture, cost of living, the weather, the mountains, the coffee country, the ocean, the volcanoes, the rivers, and the forest, I decided that could live in El Salvador. In 2019, I acquired a real estate property about 10,000 square footage, and I started to build a home. I built a 2,500 square footage home with less than $150,000 dollars. My property is surrounded by mountains, I have a lot of trees in my property, a river rund next to my home, I am at 3, 500 feet above sea level. My dream home finally. In California, USA, I needed to earn $20,000 income per month in order for me to live in a home like the one I owned here in El Salvador. Welcome to El Salvador 🇸🇻 . Es ley, pero lamentablemente muchas veces no se obedece, no solo por falta de cultura y educación vial, pero por que la infraestructura 3er mundista no lo permite, por ejemplo en Santa Ana, la mayoria de calles son de un solo carril, y en el area de el mercado. Hay ventas en las aceras que se derraman a las calles, haciendolas aun mas angostas. Esperemos que poco a poco, esto se corrija, y ya no haya necesidad de multar para que la gente de espacio a las ambulancias.

Gentrification is worrisome, it happens every time, when a lot of Americans or Europeans move to a developing country, every price increases and the locals have a hard time.

True but when done correctly it also brings a lot of money and jobs and intellectual capital. But if it's people who just want to sit in an air b n b and pay 3x what locals pay for a few months then that's bad.

mostly is about guys who does not want to pay taxes, so they star for a few months, less than 6 months in every country, they pay 1000 dollars on an airbnb and then leave, i went to San Salvador last week and the airbnb market there is very expensive and not very good, if you want to stay on a nice zone of the city prices can go up to 100$ a night or more, regular housing is already expensive there, in a decent neighborhood the apartments begin with 1200$ which is crazy for the local salaries. So no, mostly bad things comes from gentrification.@@firstnamelastname6926
