You do realize when you say you have the right to self defence and want to buy guns at Walmart that the people you’re trying to defend against can also buy them at Walmart and makes it much likelier that you will need to defend yourself against them. When you have balls and don’t live in America you don’t feel the need to walk around armed as if you live in a war zone. You guys should try it I’m sure Russia has a lot less shootings in schools, playground, malls, parades, gas stations and countless other places because of their gun laws and they actually have rise. up against their government at least twice to take it down. Thinking that giving everyone a gun allows them to defend themselves is like thinking if everyone has a pool no one will drown. Easy guns, lots of murders. I think that’s been more than proven in the US case. No modern country in the rest of the world has the amounts of shootings the richest country in the world with all its self-defence rights has. Invest in providing for the people and watch how little self defence you’ll need instead of having little forts of overly wealthy people surrounded by a war zone. Just an idea you’ve made it this far as a nation maybe it can go on for another 250 years. Violence begets violence. Don’t get me wrong I don’t understand why you feel as you do, I would feel the same in America. Every time I visit I’m waiting to be shot or robbed but that’s the problem.

What is the most common shotgun used for hunting birds and small game? What about bears and moose? I am not sure what kind of deer are in Russia but what is used for that type of game? I have looked at some Russian hunting forums and several hunters like semi auto firearms based on the AK type of action in larger calibers. The bureaucracy that one must go through is interesting. In all honesty, in the US that would not be tolerated too well. Most gun laws are at the state level. Since there are 50 states there are 50 sets of gun laws. It really depends on where you live or travel to. As an example, here in Wyoming I can lawfully shoot at varmints out of a vehicle on a two track dirt road. In my old home state of Massachusetts, if caught, I would face a hell of a fine and loss of my license to carry. Here in Wyoming you do not need a license to carry a firearm openly or concealed. But you do need a hunting license for small and big game as well as other types of game. Coyotes and prairie dogs( a type of large ground squirrel) one can shoot without any kind of license as they are classified as a pest.

The description of the bureaucracy part the lady gave somewhat differs from the process I personally went through in that her story looked more complicated, maybe this is reflective of her personal experience at certain medical/police offices. Also elements of the application process could be done online, this was not mentioned, I think.

That is interessting. So after all that procedures is it possible to get a mosinka and go to the range? As far as i understand after 5 years ? Is there also a regulation how to store your gun at home, maybe it needs special boxes or so for the gun and also the ammunition?

Thank you, Lars, and Mrs. Lars. This was very informative. I like guns very much and this is one thing I do not look forward to if I move to Russia. I have had guns all my life, but I am willing to leave my guns behind for a life in Russia. Also, in my collection, I have two Mosin-Nagant rifles. I would assume you must be a citizen to be able to own a firearm and take these tests.

@@seanomeirs8362 great for you. Perhaps what you "want and need" maybe is a wee bit different than what I "need" out where I live. Had a pack of coyotes attack our chickens last week. I used what I had to eliminate that problem which was a registered full auto MP5 with a beta mag which just happens to be dang near perfect for that situation. In "that" situation, it was EXACTLY what I needed. 10 seconds later and 4 dead coyotes, problem solved. Now. do YOU have access to that in good old cali......... Yep. Thought so. Now. Do you need that in your situation. Probably not. But I did. So again, good for you, but really, that means literally nothing. You get that. Just because you have what you want has absolutely no application out here. So really, I couldn't care less what you have.

Thank you for sharing this. While it may seem a complicated process it is not too different from locations like us here in Canada. The psychological interviews were more complicated than here where your family and friends are interviewed regarding your mental and emotional stability during the process but it seems that it is a worthwhile process in order to prevent inappropriate people from having firearms. I think it helps to ensure that the right to own is respected and held to a high standard. Happy hunting to Mrs Survival Russia!

In rural areas there is many unregistered funs available, in some regions even make their own guns illegally, alrthough its less common now and illegal guns are easy to get, mostly ak47s, sks and nagant rifles and shotguns, illegal handguns are common in the caucasus too. I think ive seen 100 or more illegal pistols in 2 years in dagestan. In tuva for example the majority of houses have a gun but few have a permit mostly ak47s and sks rifles. It depends where you are, in regional areas its common, the russians in moscow, st petersburg ect its pretty well regulated.
