I always wanted to be an artist/painter since I could remember. But out of practicality, I became a nurse in 1977. But when I turned 30, after a divorce, I pursued my art dream with a passion. It took a while, but by age 42, I was able to go part time as a nurse and by 46, I quit my nursing job and doubled my salary as a fine artist selling my work through some top galleries in the US, and my art has appeared on the covers of national art magazines. In my 60’s I had to cut back painting due to caretaking aging parents and this year my husband has had medical problems. I didn’t have children, married later the 2nd time, and lost friends due to my long painting days, but I’m still painting at 68 and I think I’m producing some of my best work. I think my sacrifices have been worth it to pursue my dream. I love your videos, and I think I may have watched you on Romper room when I was young!

So grateful❤️ I have always loved sewing. Stayed at 8 years old. Became a clothing designer and manufacturer now 66 and still doing it. I loved it always. 87 and doing this is so wonderful. We need wise older people to influence the young. Common sense is needed and guidance in the young world has gotten a little strange.

You are so right, and I'm glad to see a young person hearing this advice, I'm 82, and "old age" is not my favorite stage in life. The reason being, I'm a late bloomer and feel remorseful that I didn't know what I wanted when I was young, and now - as a senior - I feel like it's "too late" to enjoy traveling and just trying new things. Now, you feel a "heads-up" from Sandra and you can enjoy the life you were meant to live Now!

Hi Sandra! I enjoy all of your videos. Today's video was very helpful. My husband of 53 years died this past October 2022. He was a very wonderful man, a true gentleman always. We have 4 children and 6 grandchildren, we are truly blest. I lived at home with my parents, had a nice job, and was 22 when my husband and I married. He was 23. Now at 76 yrs old I am for the first time living by myself. And this is fine. I'm adjusting to it everyday. My faith has always helped me get thru everything that has happened in my life and it is helping me now. I am very fortunate to have our children and grandchildren living in the same city with one son and family 3 hrs away. All I ever wanted to be in my life was to be a mother and I have that and also now being a grandmother. I will now continue to be the best Mom & Granny for the rest of my life. I am around young families when I'm attending sports events etc. with the grandchildren and that keeps me young at heart! Thank you again for your always helpful and insightful videos. You are a treasure!

I will be 69 in October. I was married & divorced twice. My dream when I was young was to be a wife, mother & homemaker of a happy family. I always had built in people (husband & two daughters) to do stuff with. I retired at the end of 2022 so now I have the time to be able to go & do as I like but. I had thought I'd be doing things with my husband now so it now feels so strange being on my own. Six years after my divorce, I now am trying to determine what I want to do going forward, whether with friends, my daughters, grandchildren, or just by myself. It really is a challenge sometime to even get myself out the door. I hope that baby steps will increase my bravery & I'll be traveling further & increasing my other interests while my body still allows. Thanks for your encouraging words. Have a great summer!

Sandra, this made me cry. Not that “you” made me cry, but because I don’t even remember my dream, or dreams anymore. I’ve spent so much time raising my children, and just surviving, including surviving illnesses, that so much of my life has been one big blur. But thanks to you, and your video today, I’m going to take the time to close my eyes, and just go back in time to when I was a young girl with dreams.❤🥰

I'm the middle of my motherhood I sat down alone on Mother's Day and told my late mother how much I missed her. She replied (and this has happened twice to me only) "You don't miss me, you miss yourself." It changed my life. I started meditating, which brought me back to childhood dreams. I developed skills, went back to school, divorced and carried on with my life. I still have challenges but I am me now and not afraid to face them.

I really needed that encouragement today! I decided to start and plan for my next adventure of my life instead of sitting alone thinking of OLD AGE and the years that had slipped by! Why hang onto the ‘ghost of yesterday’ since I can’t change any of it no matter how much regrets and tears I allowed it to consume my days! So I wrote on my memo chalkboard this morning: “TODAY, I STARTED TO OVERHAUL MY LIFE AND RID OF FEARS & WORRIES! I BEGIN AGAIN!” I don’t know where life will take me but I sure can try as long as I have life no matter my age! An image came to mind: The phoenix rises above its ashes into the glorious of another new Destiny! ❤

Thank you, Sandra. Yesterday, I was feeling a little "down" and realized a lot of it is aging issues. (I'm 65.) Arthritis pain, newly-developed lactose intolerance, and feeling like my life isn't of interest to others. I've been questioning my spirituality as I watch strong differences of opinion even between Christians. How can we feel and think so differently about politics, for instance. I talked to a person at my church, who reminded me that this is something we all go through. We all face aging issues (if we're lucky). How do I want to be? The important thing is that my life is of interest to ME. And it's all connected--our body, mind, and spirit. I have a new resolve to take steps to feel better. Take steps to BE better. Continue to be active. Take the time to pursue my interests, such as writing more. Your video came at just the right time to cement this. Thank you for the inspiration.

I am 56 and getting my van ready to hit the road so I can start another business of my own. I am going to be in search of vintage jewelry and clothing and whatever else catches my eye. This has been my dream for some years now and I'm so excited! I had a beauty salon when I was only 22 yrs. of age and I had it paid off at 30. It was a duplex and one side was already an old-fashioned Barber shop and with the help of my mother we scraped probably 10 coats of paint off the back bar to find the most beautiful oak wood! It also had those magnificent barber chairs that were original to the shop. I ended up turning the other side into my own apartment so I no longer had to pay rent for an apartment. It was a wonderful time in my life! Unfortunately, my back didn't allow me to continue for life and I had to stop doing hair. You inspire me and I want you to know that. I'm going to have a KZbin channel as well. I will be taking everyone along with me while I shop and also will be including the vanlife part of my life too. My husband has built the van with so much solar power that I will have all the air conditioning I could possibly need, heat as well, hot water for my shower that he installed. I could go on and on. I will have my pit bull mix with me so, I will be safe. I just can't wait until the van is ready and these gas prices go down. Thank you for letting me share my dream!

🎉Hi Sandra As a kid I took a tap class at a park one summer and always wished I could take more classes but my family didn’t have the money for such luxuries. it was always my dream to dance on stage - I grew up and enjoyed my career as a social worker but I always had that feeling I was not fulfilling my childhood wish. Once I learned that my daughter’s dance school had adult tap classes and that they also performed in the annual show I signed up. Enjoyed the classes and rehearsing for the shows - it was a dream come true. When I turned 50, the dance academy rented the theater at a local college for the annual showcase and now we were on a professional stage with the all the colored lights and big sound - the theater had 350 seats and the show was sold out. My knees felt like jello- there I was in make-up, costume, dancing with the one man in our class during my solo spot- the show was filmed so I can go back and watch “my movie.” At age 66 I joined a community chorus and loved the singing and performing - and meeting wonderful new people. Taking those first steps is sometimes hard and awkward - but so rewarding if we don’t let our fears and feeling uncomfortable get in the way of doing that thing we always wanted to do, it’s a great feeling of personal satisfaction to be the one doing instead of always watching others from the audience.

Another beautiful message from our beautiful Sandra! In reality I know that my dream is gone. It truly is too late for me now. I know this because I no longer have the drive, mental acuity , or financial means to pursue my dream of becoming a holistic practitioner. But, I study natural healing modalities on my own ( off and on for years) and pass what I learn on to friends and family 🤗 Maybe I will find another dream, I don't know. Thank you for being such an inspiration for women everywhere, we love you!❤

Hi Sandra, first of all your daughters are beautiful, just like their mother and your son is very handsome. The only dream I ever had as a child wants to be a mother and have a happy marriage. I am so very grateful that that dream came true for me at a very early age. I don’t currently have any dreams, I am content in my life right now, but we never know what the future holds. If I do get a new dream, I hope that I will have the courage and the strength to go after it just like you did. Much love, Sheila.

It may sound silly, but sometimes I feel like my life is already over even though I'm only in my early 30s. My family often brings it up in conversation. I made the decision to have children at a young age and become a stay-at-home mom. I did attend school and worked for a while, but being away from my children didn't feel right to me. My grandparents raised me, and I wanted to raise my own children as well. Starting a gaming channel was something I was interested in, but many people made fun of me, saying that it was immature and that I should act my age as a mother and an adult. However, what they didn't know was that I've never been happier. As a stay-at-home mom, I finally found something that was just for me. Who knows, it might even lead to some opportunities. I am hopeful. Even if it doesn't, I'm happy creating content. Thank you for your words. Reading through the comments, I think I will be okay. It was the encouragement I needed to hear.

Friends have told me I should “write” but I’ve put it off. I’ve been thinking of writing my autobiography to share with my family because life has changed so drastically over the past 70 years. My husband transitioned from working at the automotive company to being a psychotherapist. He enjoyed his second career so much and got a great deal of satisfaction from helping people. He was always a people person and this should have been his career during this early life, but at least he was able to do what he loved for 13 years.

I also wanted to become a singer and an actress and at the age of 42, I participated as member of the chorus in a representation of Euripides' Bacchae and since then I participated in some other represenations of ancient greek drama, I joined a group to sing, now I am a member of a chorus, a month after my 50th birthday I obtained a diploma in spanish language. Dear Sandra, thank You for this message. I am a person with phisical disability when I was born. My disorder is visible and for many, too many years I couldn't express myself without fear - to avoid being in the centre of attention. I realise, after building my relation with God that I have disability but I am beautiful human/ woman so there are no reasons to be shy and cover my talents. Now I am 33 and last year I decided to start to learn singing with professional teacher. It changes my attitude and quality of life. I like myself more day by day and try to not waste my time which I get. Regards from Poland!❤
