So can you row cut a cross seam? Well in this video i take 3 different types of carpet and put them to the test. Trying to row cut a cross seam to see if it will turn out good enough to make a good seam in carpet.

Nice seam cutting, but shop conditions are a lot easier than field conditions. Squareness is usually an issue when seaming to a side seam..Thanks for sharing the video.

Thanks for your video's. I saw first time in your video what is row finder, and what is funny in Poland we don't have it in shops. I bought row finders from usa :D My "masters" teach me to cut carpets at the back with ruler. In fact if you do this precisely, seaming will be good, but if you do this with row finder and "two-sided pushed knife" seaming's are ideal. By the way, I find your channel, because I want to do my own channel about carpets. When I was started doing carpets I was looking for any informations about how to do this better, and I dont found. Thats reason why i want to do this. For everyone who wants to know how to do this.

Thanks MASTER PS 206 into the carpet and con help stable things out sometimes you have to think out-of-the-box double cut yes double cut Which some of these carpets crooked rows so I’m having side speed bumps zigzags that can’t be cut straight place a scrap piece approximately 4 inches under the cut and would add fullness to seam

If you like the powerhold 250 I think the Orkon k-40 would be a good replacement. I would say they both have roughly The same amount of adhesive and scrim. Are usually always have a roll of orkon k-40, xk-30 and capital power lock in my van. Just depends on the carpet and where seams are located. Keep up the great work on the videos. 👊

I'm still catching up on your videos!! I stopped rowing cross seams years ago . When dry fitting a three piece till in a 26ft room the crosses didn't match up. But your pattern match you have to! Can't always find a cross row, I've actually had to free style with a top cutter. They don't make carpet like they use to for sure! I've watched your seam work and you don't have to worry about how the sun hits your seams,,, ain't gonna see them!!!!

As you just showed yes you can. But always rest a small piece first before trying and take your time. If your not use to it. Tape i use is XK-50 for cut piles and a low glue tape for bebers.

You mention the lines on the back of the Shaw carpet. What do they mean exactly? Should the thinner line be on the right/left side vertically or top/bottom horizontally? Which is the "correct" direction?
@FloorsbySouthernboys
@FloorsbySouthernboys 6 ай бұрын
Just as long as both pieces of carpet have the same pattern of lines. I don’t matter if the skinny line is on the left or the right, so long as they are both the same.
@ty2seven657
@ty2seven657 6 ай бұрын
@@FloorsbySouthernboys I get that. I just meant if the skinny line is on the right does that mean the direction of the carpet is running down or up

@@FloorsbySouthernboys I was having so much trouble identifying which direction the carpet was running because the fibers were so short. It almost didn't matter which edge I cut, I kept ending up with too much backing showing which was hard to blend/conceal. Got even just *slightly* longer carpet this time and it already is a lot easier to tell the direction. Might be some potential video content to give some tips on for others finding themselves stuck with short (non-pattern) ordered carpet. Especially when cutting down the 12 ft into smaller sections where the black lines have been cut off.
@CryptoAzhole
@CryptoAzhole 2 ай бұрын
@@ty2seven657I find it best, if I'm cutting smaller pieces off for cross seams, and they won't have the lines. I mark the backing with lines or arrows before I cut it off, so I know what direction it should run with the lines.

How do you control the squareness against the main seam when using this method?
@FloorsbySouthernboys
@FloorsbySouthernboys 5 жыл бұрын
Lloyd Frazier Since it is row Cut and if you row cut everything else in the house or job everything should stay straight so long as you get your very first piece of carpet straight everything else will run off of that for instants if you start in the master bedroom and you have a hallway with other bedrooms running off of the side of the hallway which connects to the master bedroom, you need to take extra time to make sure that that master bedroom is straight because all of your other Rooms are going to be running off of that one piece, it’s just like if he was running a pattern carpet you have to make sure your first piece is perfect
