That's very black & white, all-or-nothing thinking. If you don't/can't trust any of your co-workers, either you are new, or you need to gtfo. What do you do if there is ONE person who legitimately and damagingly betrays your trust? Why does that reflect badly on you? If the person is artificial & therefore likable, they thrive while manipulating you? Fun times.

Watching this video now at work, as I deal with toxic, underhanded coworkers...you know the type: they will smile in your face and claim you can trust them, as they go running to snitch on you a few minutes later? Yeah. I don't trust anyone at my job, particularly in the department I work in! Trying to escape now as I job hunt. All while tolerating toxic, fake coworkers, and a manager that shows blatant favoritism, racism, and lies in your face. Trying to transfer internally, as my issue is within the department, not company itself, but if that's not an option, I WILL find options outside the facility. You know it's a bad sign when they talk about each other behind their backs, yet smile in that same person's face when they're around. Meaning you KNOW as soon as you leave the room, they're talking about you as well. I no longer confide in anyone: I keep things very simple and work related. Do my job and go home. Am I happy? NO. Absolutely not. But I'm trying to stay sane, calm, and focused until something better comes along. I used to think I could play the "office politics" game and ride it out? But sometimes you have to know when to walk away from a bad situation.

Toxic coworkers are another level, and yours have shown you that they are not trustworthy (and immature). Hold those boundaries, especially with you personal life. I used to work for a small company. One day I had to go to another city with my supervisor and he started to talk about how he would cheat on his girlfriend and other stuff. I could have used that to destroy his life, but never did. He was planning popping the question. Since we rented a car to go to that city, he would play the same song over and over again. I was tired and the trip took 10 hours. I said to one of the new guys about how sick I was of listening to the supervisor's playlist and he told everybody. I felt so betrayed. I have had 4 people reach out to me of their own volition and ask if everything is ok and have brought up they miss my happy welcoming personality. These 4 people opened up about also having issues with the same co worker and have been actually feeling the same way. There is one co-worker I absolutely do not trust. When we have had disagreements, he immediately goes to the boss who agrees with him (they are friends) and I am labelled 'agressive' (I am female and it related to a reply to his email) and he was labelled 'to the point'. As the only female in the office of 9, this coworker tries to treat me like his PA and when I push back on it I get called 'agressive'. How the hell do I deal with this? Everyone else I get on with because we all do our job role - if there are any issues we work to resolve it. I have respect for those colleagues (they are not my 'friends') because we all respect boundaries and know what is expected. This co-worker, does not. And he always gets the back of my boss.

I told a co worker how I was feeling one day, during the conversation I asked her to keep it to herself; she went and discussed it with my manger which then turned into a whole other thing. No need to trust coworkers. They behave like children and haven't mentally graduated from high school. Trust is built when they show character and morals, it's not charity work.

Hell you can’t even trust your pastor, barley people you go to church with. They tell the pastor everything. Even the principal and teacher does if they know your pastor
