Same, Regional thing I imagine. drunk, hammered , tipsy (a little bit drunk) are the ones I can think of but there are probably others. Edit: oh and pissed, tho double meaning there they might be mad (angry)

a few years ago we had a language stay (organized by our school) in England. one of our teacher used to say "smashing" al the time. we loved it so much that we started using that word non stop

As a German there is exactly only one instance that I remember of hearing the word "dogdy" be used. And that's when MP Dennis Skinner called David Cameron "Dogdy Dave" and got kicked out of the house for it

Dodgy you can say like... people are using dodgy tv boxes to watch pay tv for free. So it doesn't always mean "suspicious". It can mean like something fake or untrustworthy. In the case of David Cameron it means that he's corrupt

I live in the north west of England, not once have I heard of any of these terms except dodgy and shambles but that’s because they’re actual useful terms, no one ever used the other ones up here and even when it comes to dodgy it’s still rare to hear it

Just to input a little. Some places do use “nowt” to say nowhere. Like, “in the middle of nowt” not a majorly common one to hear, but it is a thing 😊

All. I read a lot of books by British authors and have watched my fair share of British TV. I also had a British bus driver and had to translate "rapping my knuckles" to the other kids. She was quite sweet and once gave me some chocolate from her care package.

As a british I use dogdy so much my stepdad started saying it around me and now it’s my vocabulary I didn’t know the last two but trollied sounded like it was fit for drunk But nowt… never heard of it

I somehow had everything right, despite my mother language not being English but German. I mostly got it by what the word sounds like the most to me.

most of my friends are from uk and ive never heard a single person use nowt or trollied. for nothing they usually just shorten the word to nuthin or sometimes nun. for drunk they usually say steaming but im pretty sure they picked it up from the scottish folks in the friend group. trollied is something else for sure 💀
