Canadian Politics and Political Vocabulary: Talk about Politics in English! Improve your English!

Question of the Day: Please tell me about the political system and the leader of your country. Try and use some of the vocabulary and expressions from today's lesson. Canada's government is a democracy and Canadians vote for the candidates they want to represent them. We have a prime minister, not a president. Soon we will have a federal election to choose our next prime minister, but right now Justin Trudeau is the current leader of my country and he is part of the Liberal party. I'll update this comment after the election is finished. Let me know about your country.

The election has finished and Justin Trudeau continues to be prime minister. I didn't talk about how Parliament and the House of Commons really works in Canada, but the difference after this election although the Liberal party is in power, they don't have as much power as they did before this election. Canada now has what is called a minority government whereas before we had a majority government.

Before in egypt it was monarchy and the monarch was not egyptian, that was in the era before 1952 until revolution started then the system was turned to be republican and the president has become a one of the public. Five presidents have passed by egypt right now since the revolution, and situation is too sensitive as the previous monarchy state which has been conquering egypt for so long time in the immediate pre-revolutaionary period or in the immediate period preceding the revolution, still trying to make troubles all the time to destabilize the region.

By the way democracy is a great thing but I hope the democratic or the liberal party in Canada is not going or walking on the same approach or way of the same named one in the US, as it is known that the democratic party's heads in america are representing devil. Thanks

@@Hdhtfbdubgty Thanks for your interest in this Canadian politics English lesson. Our last election was in 2019 and our next election for the prime minister will be in 2023. Thanks for sharing about the political situation in Egypt. I hope that things will improve and become more stable soon. Canada's Liberal party isn't really the same as the American Democratic Party, but they do both lean left. As for the Democratic Party in the USA. I have no idea what you mean in saying that their heads represent the devil... Their mascot is a donkey which has nothing to do with Satan... ?

Iran is led by Islamic republic government, which is a mix of democracy and religious governments. Yes, we have elections in Iran, but candidates are selected by religious leaders so many people can't find a proper candidate to be a vote, so many people decide not to vote in the recent presidential election, a warning for governments. Before recent election statics of the election was a strong reason for popularity of Islamic republic because many people were voting in hope for change. In the recent election participation statistics dropped less than 50 percent and suddenly the leader announced that statics of election are not a reason for the popularity. Long story short, Islamic republic was an idea in the past and today many people of Iran are not accepting the role of Islam in all aspects of their life but they can't rise up their voices.

I live in Brazil, here we live a democracy. however when we talk about right or left we talk about democrats or socialists who defend communism liberals are more in the central part of politics. summarizing right are more conservative politicians , left politicians linked to communism center liberals

Hi Jimmy 😎. Actually, my name is just JeN. Apostrophe S ( 's) means that something belongs to someone. 'Jyugyou' is the Japanese word for lesson or class. So the title of my KZbin channel is basically "JeN's class", but I liked the alliteration of the word 'Jyugyou' better 😁. Many restaurants are named like that to show that it is the food / restaurant belonging to that person or company.
