My heart, soul, trust, and loyalty, shall forever be sided with the beautiful night. Luna has shown to be more aware of the ponies of Equestria (referring to the entering of nightmares) and helpful towards them too. Mean while, Celestia hasn't shown any communication with any of the ponies, except for with the mane 6, or when following royal duties. For all we know, she might not care for her subjects at all, and may just throw them into battle in claim of "sacrifices for the better good". I personally love the night more than the day, which is why I would side with Luna. That and she is similar to me. Not understood, over looked, or just unnoticed in total. So similarities would lay there too. But personally, I would rather take a stroll in the cool, calming, gentle, soft light, of the night, than in the hot, loud, noise filled, brightness of the day. 🌑🌌👑

Can I just say something? If it was just fans vs fans lunar republic would win by a long shot because if you look at the stats for best princess Luna won with more than 4 x twilight and cadence. With celestia only getting 48 votes an Luna getting over 600 Lunar republic would easily win with the sheer size of the army. Even if all cadence and twilight voters sided with celestia Lunar republic would still double the size of Solar republic. And even THEN I think that cadence voters would go with Lunar republic so that would make them even stronger with 145 votes. I got all the stats from brony notion in case you want to see them.

Those stats do a poor representation of everyone in the fandom. The bronies themselves might favor Luna. But there's another gigantic section of the fandom we often forget. The children fans. I'm not going to say who they'd side with. Also, I wasn't included in this stat. And many many more weren't either. It's a small survey that can't fully be relied upon as proof of anything. And when push comes to shove... many might actually change their mind one side or another during actual choosing time.

Also, Luna might have one more edge up, the night. I'm guessing that since most ponies work best with daylight, their strongholds would be pretty good during the day, but Celestia's army attacking during the night would be like invading Russia during winter. Home field advantage. Also, they can attack be night easily when most ponies are sleeping.

Luna probably has the power of the oceans. She would set our awesome base in the ocean. Any solar advisories coming our way would answer to the tides! Celestia could use the sun but she ruin the land if she tried to evaporate even an inch of the ocean. To me the war would start based on all the lies and hidden truths that Celestia might has told. She has kept many things a secret keeping her subjects in the dark about things that will effect them if not reined in. This logic has effected the crystal empire twice. Letting the crystal ponies to rot and now Cadence can't think of telling her subjects without upsetting them into a panic. I think Luna would hate something like this choosing to rebel and telling everypony the truth. So this would have changed how the mane 6 chooses sides. Applejack would appreciate the honesty Luna gave them.

I personally, no doubt what all, would join Luna's side no matter any odds. Aside from that, if you include their fanbases, Luna's side would be insanely overwhelming in numbers. I have searched many polls and vote sites in the last few years and Luna always had at least about 70% of the votes. As for what Luna would ACTUALLY do in a war, I think that she'd never banish or hurt her sister, that's not what she wants. But if that would turn out to be the case, Luna calls upon Nightmare Moon's power and bam, RIP solar empire, no chance for Celestia at all with the Elements gone. But if I could, in case of a war, I would tell Luna to only prove Celestia and her followers wrong, then stay down and have peace, don't hurt any of the Mane 6, and others either :) Hard thing would be to tell the fanbases to calm down D:

Lunaxaton That's only if you think that the Equestrian cosmos is the same as ours. I don't really see it that way. I think the moon and sun are about equal in size, and both circle the planet that Equestria is located on, and the stars are just pretty decorations that Luna put up. But even if that's not the case, Celestia controlled the sun, the moon, AND the stars all on her own for 1000 years while Luna was banished.

They can perform each other's roles but according to the MLP wiki, unicorns too, can collectively control them. But aside from all this, Luna can animate objects, so she could create armies without risking anypony's life :)

I think some of the Mane Six would be on the “Keep the Peace” side, but I also think some, like Twilight, would go with Celestial on the get go and later see their mistakes and go with the peace core

Hold on, why would the mane six side with anyone? Their friendship with each other is stronger than their like for day or night. They'd team up and stop either side from destroying the other. It'd be the ultimate victory for Twilight because her magic would have stopped the sisters fighting once and for all, her ultimate duty as princess of magic would be fulfilled. In fact that'd make for an AMAZING series finale in actual My Little Pony.

That's actually a very good point. Now the question would actually lie in if Twilight would actually work up the courage to create a seperate party that would try to discourage both sides. While she is the Princess of a Magic and Friendship, and it'd make sense for her to create a more neutral group, plus she'd have a lot of followers, there's still the fact she owes so much power, experience, awe and admiration to Celestia. I'm not sure she'd be willing to so easily throw it all away, even if it meant pushing aside what she's truly meant for. After all, she always has followed Celestia's orders, whatever they may be. If he is willing to ignore Celestia and create a group all for peace, I'm pretty sure she's have a pretty good shot at winning. She's proven to contain a lot of raw, powerful magic which could really come in handy. Also, the other Mane 6 would join her, even Fluttershy since Twilight would basically be working on neutral grounds, and they all have special talents that could help. Fluttershy might be able to drag in a few mythical beasts and possibly Disccord to help out too. I'm also pretty sure a lot of ponies from Ponyville would support their local Princess, as would other ponies she has saved personally, for example from Starshine Glimmer (or whatever her name was). While Celestia is the bigger princess, Twilight has personally helped many ponies, which can earn quite a few loyalties, and many others would join we since she's not trying to annihilate the moon or sun, just trying to find balance. So I think Team Twilight would win. Whoops, long rant ;w;
