It’s a real shame this trilogy was tainted with dodgy judges. GGG clearly won the first fight and for me, edged the 2nd fight. Although it was close enough to say it could’ve been a draw. This 3rd fight was a bit more obvious in Canelo’a favour but still GGG did well for 40 years old.

@@burdman1333 I feel you are glorifying Canelo's skills or undermining GGG's skills. Observing them over the years as a neutral fan from Indi, I feel this way. Canelo can't be rated as a better boxer than GGG by any virtue. Canelo is just a visually more appealing puncher boxer. I haven't seen Canelo consistently throwing fundamental punches of jab & cross (1 &2) or even jabs enough to win a fight against elite opponents. He definitely got some thudding hooks and upper cuts which saved his ass in many fights where he was down on the cards. Also He's very flat footed which he compensates with some good head movement for sure but nothing too out of this world like Floyd's defense or Roy's athleticism. GGG on the other hand had pretty good stiff jab and and a good 1-2 that he hides behind the jab. Got some nice overhand hooks and the short arm uppercuts. Yes, he's definitely the stiffer of the two. But nowhere is he less skilled compared to Canelo. Both are similarly skilled and may be GGG has more variety of punches and Canelo got better defense and solid power punches. So i would rate both of them on the same level and its a shame we didnt get to see more of GGG. Now we are missing out on Bivol as well as he is not getting any good fights. Boxing is fucked up with corruption.

Impressive, GGG has never been knocked down; he hasn't even kissed the canvas, not even by the best Canelo. In my opinion, of the three fights: the first was a victory for GGG, the second was very close, either a draw or a point in favor of GGG since Canelo almost went down in the last 3 or 4 rounds. The third fight, which was supposed to be clearer and a victory for Canelo, even talked about a knockout, unbelievable... Canelo dominates by scoring without seriously troubling GGG, Canelo wins, but in the only 2 rounds where GGG pushed hard not to fall, he put Canelo in serious trouble.

GGG was the hyped up favorite in the first two fights with many people believing he'd destroy Canelo, but instead underdog Canelo turned the tables on him in the second fight and beat him at his own game with even Abel saying he deserved credit for doing what he needed to. Team GGG had publicly rejected the trilogy back in early 2020, but many people still had GGG as a live dog in the third fight with Canelo coming off a loss to Bivol. People made comparisons to Marquez knocking out Pacquiao off the loss to Bradley. At least people thought GGG would make it a war and risk going out on his shield if he needed to, but GGG wouldn't even let his hands go for most of the fight despite the judges trying to hand him the win.

The more I see the third fight the more I can see that Golovkin's fighting style was quite not the same as it was in the first two fights. Yes, Golovkin was younger in the two proceeding fights, and some can argue that the weigh at 168 compared the first two that were held at 160 could have been the difference. I think one of two things are probably the most probable, I think the age factor was very apparent cause GGG had just turned 40 that year and he had just fought Murata where he looked a little slow, I think Canelos's camp paid off Golovkin a bit more of the purse. They probably told Golovkin t ease off your power right a bit and we will throw an extra million on top of your guaranteed purse. I mean those are the only two logical conclusions. Because GGG was beast firing with both hands in the first two fights and then suddenly in the third, did not have the same power he had in the third fight. Canelo completely dominated the first 8 rounds of this fight. You can argue that after 8 rounds it was 7-1 Canelo. And the last 4 rounds probably 3-1 Golovkin. So, I had it 8-4 Nelo over Golovkin. I was very disappointed in GGGs performance but money talks. And look how close the judges had it and it was not even close compared to the first two fights. Not by any Strech.

In the first fight Canelo won clearly the las 3 or 2 rounds, that's why it was a draw. But taking into account that GGG was the champ, I think he should have won. The second fight Canelo won closely and the third he won clearly

Canelo can't be rated as a better boxer than GGG by any virtue. Canelo is just a visually more appealing puncher boxer. I haven't seen Canelo consistently throwing fundamental punches of jab & cross (1 &2) or even jabs enough to win a fight against elite opponents. He definitely got some thudding hooks and upper cuts which saved his ass in many fights where he was down on the cards. Also He's very flat footed which he compensates with some good head movement for sure but nothing too out of this world like Floyd's defense or Roy's athleticism. GGG on the other hand had pretty good stiff jab and and a good 1-2 that he hides behind the jab. Got some nice overhand hooks and the short arm uppercuts. Yes, he's definitely the stiffer of the two. But nowhere is he less skilled compared to Canelo. Both are similarly skilled and may be GGG has more variety of punches and Canelo got better defense and solid power punches. So i would rate both of them on the same level and its a shame we didnt get to see more of GGG. Now we are missing out on Bivol as well as he is not getting any good fights. Boxing is fucked up with corruption.
