really enjoyed this... thank you for sharing. I used this guideline this morning on my 2 yr old pup (she already knew the basics but I've never put everything together like this)... It was wonderful! THIS is exactly how I'd imagined our walks looking but didn't know how to put it all together so this was great, thank you so much!!!

What is Rampage's color called. I thought I saw some rusty tones in there. He's beautiful.

“Let dogs be dogs” = an excuse not to train

Yep. Same as let kids be kids. An excuse not to parent.

Everything is fine. But during his free time, the reward for the recall that you gave.....If that is less attractive than the deer out there in the woods, won't the dog fail to come back on recall?

That is why he has an e collar on him :)

There is always the possibility that a dog may decide not to follow a given command, so you want to have a very good communication structure in place and for any off leash work we recommend completing remote collar conditioning training and using the remote collar when you are off leash. In a situation where the dog fails to recall you say “No” and bump on your remote collar which communicates to the dog to stop and return to you, the remote collar can be finely tuned to your dog’s arousal level and communicate with them even in a higher drive
