Cannondale claims their SystemSix is the fastest road bike available due to aerodynamic advantages. Is it? And is it worth the price of entry? I talk about my ownership of the bike this past year.

Great review...since you went for the Ultegra mechanical version - I believe that I have the same bike...but from 2020. Mine is the Black with grey accents colorway. I'm only a few pounds lighter and run 25's at 90 psi and I don't find the ride harsh at all. Now some of that for sure is point of reference...I'm coming from an Aluminum Specialized bike running 23's at 110 psi. The stock Prologo saddle that came with the SystemSix fits me so perfectly....it is easily the best saddle I've ever ridden. The bike is fast on the flats and descents...and not terrible on the climbs. Mine came with Vision 55 wheels. I might look to get a set of lighter less deep wheels for regular riding at some point, I think wheels that are a little easier to spin up to speed will be even faster on the climbs.....but the big thing holding me back right now is rider weight! I need to lose a good 20-25 pounds before any upgrades are worth spending money on.

Great review, actually was the first time the "AERO " feature made sense for recreational riders who don't need competitive speed. Particularly with your report how much less pedaling effort out on long flat rides. Any long distance or century rider will agree, that a headwind is the worst struggle. I'll take the pain of a long grueling climb over the frustration with a unrelenting headwind that just demoralizes most riders. If you ride in desert areas the wind can be ferocious, So I expect this bike may be a great distant bike? Thanks for putting a fresh light on "AERO" bikes which I believed were just for racers. BTW also looks very modern and hi-tech. +2 on the DI2! Future video on Canyon and other value internet bikes with top-shelf components at a better price point?

I know this comment is slightly old, but I 100% agree with the headwinds, most people dread hills, but a relentless headwind can make a nice ride very unpleasant.

I didn't know you also reviewed pedal bikes. Good to know as I appreciate your honest motorcyle reviews. I wonder if you upgraded the cannondale yet. The new supersix evo (SSE) looks great I am still rocking the SSE model 2, rim brakes and light bike, not aero. It's hard to justify upgrading it's such a good bike.

Have you had any steering issues? A bike shop says the frame inside the steer tube is getting torn up by the steer stop.

Hi, ive been watching a bunch different videos of your, and noticed you havr a lot of cross over experience with motorcycles and mountain biking. Do you have any thoughts on a avid mountain biker/racer getting into adventure bikes? I notice when I see you GS videos you corner it more like a sport bike that a dirt bike. Any thoughts on what leads you to to do that, or what other technique differences a adv rider would have compared to a mountain biker?

Many thanks for that very honest review, also I am planning to buy the same bike (system six 2019 ultegra) but when I check it I found label (Made in china) beside the serial number underneath the frame" So is your bike made in china as well or this one is not original ? please advise ASAP

Thank you for the great video! Exactly what I was thinking about systemsix. Do you know if we can remove the steering stop pin? The manual says, the steering pin is permanently anchored in the frame. Any chance we can workaround to remove that?
@chrisgilligan4968
@chrisgilligan4968 2 жыл бұрын
Why would you want to remove this pin? It is designed to keep you from damaging your frame. The bike's turning radius is a little wide, but where would that come into play under normal riding circumstances?

I have a 2019 Domane SLR with Di2 11 speed and discs. Best feature is the electronic shifting, would never go back. Not that impressed with the discs though. Already replaced the rear and they don’t work as well as my MTB discs and it goes through pads. The deep rims make it tricky in windy conditions and would be dangerous in strong side winds.

the only one thing wrong about this bike is the price. this model should be cheaper than the supersix evo, imo.

As much as I think road bikes are epic, as CX racer and commuter, a gravel bike is better. According to my local shop electronic shifting has matured very well. Nice video, kudos

Maybe, but depends on what you're coming off of. I was riding a Specialized M4 Festina edition aluminum bike that I had for almost two decades. I upgraded the Campy components and some other things over the years, and while old, it was still a very nice bike. Unfortunately, that bike had a really short wheel base, so my shoulders would be howling when I'd get to the 40 mile mark. The System Six is a gem compared to that, so it's all relative 😎

Not sure your claim that it's a light weight bike is really valid, especially when you admit you don't know or care how much it weighs.

The 23c tyres is one of the major factor why this bike is faster, despite all the fake market claims that wider tyres are faster(which against the law of physics)

@Bruno Baker Any issues with tire clearance on the SystemSix frame at this width of tire? I'm hoping to build this frame with a set of Enve 4.5AR's.
@yishaithegift9953
@yishaithegift9953 Жыл бұрын
I went from 23 to 28c tires and you definitely feel a difference in rolling resistance. Especially on road surfaces that aren't particularly smooth. Another plus to wider tires is confidence in cornering and handling. But overall wider tires don't go against the laws of physics. It's proven science.

I bought a System Six in the summer of 2019. I really enjoy riding it and I've really enjoyed it. I have only one issue with it and that's related to the wheels. I got a few flats, but I am used to riding Gatorskins and those are heavy, but they don't get flats. Got more flats in a year than I did in 7-8 years. That's not the problem though - the decal peeled from one of the rims and I know how a big white blotch in the rim....yes, it's white under the decal. It looks like crap and I'm not happy with that.

Which wheels did yours come with? I have the 2020 Ultegra mechanical model. It came with Vision 55 wheels. I have had it for about 18 months and have put about 6000 km on it...some of that was on zwift - but a lot is out on the roads. I am still using the original tires - although just inspected them after a ride last night and have a good cut in one....so will be replacing them. I switched to latex tubes as soon as I got the bike and am on my second set of tubes as the originals started to bleed air a little too quickly.

Honestly, anything "aero" is simply a joke, a poser's dream. On brakes........ Brakes simply check speed. Simpler = better.
