Me and the lads are aiming to head up to the Lakes from Hull soon. I've been before plenty. Buying a shovel this time so that not only can I clean my fire properly, but I can tidy any others I see left around. It brings me a sense of pride to leave a forest area in a better state than I found it. Cheers for the video, very peacful!

Thanks for another great video, beautiful spot, looking forward to taking my canoe to the lakes for a camp. My hair started receding, vanity had left me so I got the clippers out, I felt liberated. I now find fishing, camping or anything that involves staying out of a few nights, no problem. Wash your face and head at the same time. Trust me you’ll never look back.

Your Trangia gas burner have a pre heater. That means that you can turn the canister up side down after approx 20 secs of burning, to get full effect even at low temps. Remember to turn the effect way down before flipping the canister👍

@@Adventure-Outdoors maybe a "sour" lake, i was at a lake lately and googled if there could be a good place. Only to learn that sientists had been test fishing there for a century with no luck, it was to sour. Nothing i would have expected in the area.
@Adventure-Outdoors3 жыл бұрын
@@Braapncamp That's interesting, I don't think there's anything wrong with this lake though, there's always fishermen on the shore. I reckon I'm not fishing the right areas. Local legend has it that the best bait to use are those jelly Haribo sweets, I've always thought this was a myth, but maybe not! 😂

@@Adventure-Outdoors haha, you mean jiggs or that candy for real? By the way, Wool is Ull in Swedish.
@Adventure-Outdoors3 жыл бұрын
@@Braapncamp Yeah the candy! It wouldn't surprise me if the name of the lake has Viking origins. Some of the lakes in this region end in 'mere' such as Windermere and Thirlmere and the small lakes up in the hills are called 'tarns' - both Old Norse words for bodies of water.

Cheers! There's a hiking trail that runs up the eastern shore of the lake, it starts at Patterdale and goes up behind Side Farm campsite. I reckon if you wandered up there late on in the day you'd get Silver Bay to yourself without setting foot on the water 👍🏕.

Agree with the Coleman canister, had the same trouble in low (below 10deg c) temps
@Adventure-Outdoors3 жыл бұрын
Yeah they're a bit crap, I've got a few of the 'extreme' Coleman canisters and they seem to work better, less butane and more propane in them.

You don't get any grief wild camping in those parts?
@Adventure-Outdoors2 жыл бұрын
Most of the camping is tolerated as long as you camp up high and leave no trace etc. Canoe camping is usually done well away from roads, paths, houses or busy areas so there’s no one around to give you grief. Camping in busy areas near lakes or roads is frowned upon and the National Trust and other landowners are fairly proactive in discouraging that sort of camping as they’ve suffered the usual mess left by lazy/dirty campers 👍
