The 1d classic has a 1.3x crop factor and its CCD sensor for that special and different look😁😁👍 I think I got like 6 of them laying around some like new.

Also love that the 1d is the only camera with a 1/16000 shutter and can do different sync speeds with flashes that can be sweet to stop motion

I shoot with a 1D mk.2 and can't fault it for the images and build quality. The only problem I have is that I live in the U.K. and these cameras still seem to sell way above the prices that they should for a 15 year + camera

Love my original 1Ds. It's colors are very close to my first generation fuji X-Trans cameras. The shutter sound is just pure magic.

Gosh, that highlight rolloff on the CCD sensors is a little bit of magic. Wish the technology was picked up again to save us from buying 20 year old equipment! Any experience with the older nikons Steven? I know the d200 has a CCD with a far larger 11 megapixel output. I've heard it's been called the poor mans leica

Wow, that’s crazy that you mentioned that. Yes, I love the look of the old CCD sensors and I actually got a Nikon D200 on eBay the other day for $60. I’ve literally been filming a video about that camera this week. I can attest, it really does look amazing. The D200 is the closest I’ve seen to actual film in a while. It looks the most like what I shot in my younger years before digital existed.

@@steve_heise 60 dollars is a steal! I shoot video on CCD where ever possible as the rolling shutter from sub £1000 modern cams is a hard problem to get around unless you're on a gimble, I can't wait to see your video and the photo results from the D200!

I remember the D200, mine had great colors but a tad soft as it had a heavy AA filter, it is 10Mp.

Can you do a video comparing the 1DS to the 5D classic? Like is the 1DS just a better 5D classic or are their pictures completely different does the 1 D lack that character that the 5D is known for these are the things I’m curious about

True canon warmth color science !If i buy this cameras,it will be only because of the colors :))) I've been Canon shooter for long time,i started with 1200d,70d,6d,Eos R...Eos R was big disappointment in therms of ''canon colors'',from what i've read R6 R5,non of them has bring back the magical colors...so i decided then to try to Pentax K1,and it is the best camera i've ever had in every aspect(colors,crazy dynamic range,pro-body,very good menu etc.) as landscape shooter.

I picked up my 1D mark ii for $120 and I absolutely love it. It is well worn and has 250k+ shutter count, but it has never skipped a beat. I can't decide between my 1D mk ii and my 5D mk i. The crop is kind of a pain, but I love shooting with the 1D. Great video comparison. I used to have the 1D mark i ($100) and I can't remember why I got rid of it. *face palm*

Great video. Can you give me a quick bit of advice. I have a 5DII, 6D and 1DII. (bought used 3 years back) For portraits with studio lighting which do you think will generate the best image? I will say that all my lenses will create an 8mp quality in the 1D II and for the higher MP sensors of the others I'm down to in some cases 18MP. While i haven't used it for portraits (bad battery, finally got a new one) i'm starting to think the original $6,000 body (i paid $300) might actually still be better than the other two.

I have a Canon 1D Mark II. A very good camera ! You can't kill the body ... :-) The problem with these older cameras is, that you have to find a matching objektiv. These body's doesn't have internal AF Fine tuning. You have to send it to a canon service to fix AF Back/Front Focus. That's why I use nowadays my loved 1D Mark III body's ... :-)

The EOS 1 D MK 4 is the best of the 1.3 crop s with a 16mp and a vastly superior AF system over the MK3 version The Mark 4 EOS 1D has 45 AF points and 39 cross hair type in fact this the camera that is perfect even in 2020 and beyond to use .

I’m a bit bored and looking for a fun body next to my 6D what is my main camera. It will be either a 5D Classic (already had one a loved it) or a 1D mark 1/2/3, will see what I will catch on eBay. I wanted to have a Fuji X100 but then the image quality from the 5D Classic is just waay better even if originally wanted some light street run and gun body 😃

The 1ds has a wider field of view and also a shallower depth of field. Its way heavier and the batteries are pretty pricey. I can only suggest to test it. All your EF lenses WILL have more range of use!

I got my 1D Classic from KEH back in 2012 when it was still around $400. But yeah, at the time this video was filmed, there was one on eBay for around $189 plus two other 1D Mark IIs for the same price. They’re so cheap nowadays they tend to go pretty quickly but you can still find them every now and then if you keep checking.

These cameras were brilliant & accurate at the time. I was working at an international news agency than as a picture editor & these bodies were bench mark cameras at the 2002 World Cup as well as the 2002 Winter Olympics.
