I have had mine about 6 years ago and I am still using it to this day, it's an absolute gem, I love this camera even when compared to my new mirrorless recent ones. The 5d and 5d m2 colour science is just out of this world.

Nicely done... I have learned some things even though I have been shooting my 5D2 for over a year now. I use the 5D2 for portraits since my favorite portrait lens (70-200mm f/4L IS) is not compatible with my crop sensor cameras since I don't have enough room in my studio to back up far enough.

When i press the info button to get to the quick menu, i press set and the set button does nothing. I cant seem to scroll through the quick menu. The set button works in the full menu setting so the button and wheel actually work but not in the quick menu, any ideas?

I figured it out. You are on the wrong setting. Press the 'menu' button and then scroll to the second icon from the very right. It will be an icon of the entire camera. Once there go to 'C.FnIV:Operation/Others' Use the scroll wheel to the third list of options called 'Assign SET Button' and select the 5th option on this list called 'Quick Control screen'.

Quick question, the screen can turn on to those setting if you don't have lens attached or do you have to attach a lens to get those settings?

You can change all settings, except APERTURE setting.

You just set the mode to bulb and dial in the exposure time needed.

Hi. you will have to enable it in the custom function menu. Look for extended iso or similar.

@@rickjbradbury Found it. Thanks so much. Had this camera for 5 years and never knew that L and HI existed. Appreciate. Another question while at it. My LED display green numbers (INSIDE) the viewfinder is very dull compared to my 7D can barely read the shutter speed and Fstop. Any ideas? Thanks

@@fromthepeanutgallery1084 Could be an led issue. Never noticed a difference across the bodies I have. It is not something that can be adjusted. I assume the viewfinder is clean? Sometime dirt etc can build up in them dulling them a tad.

Hi, You need to make sure that the settings on the 2nd yellow spanner menu (two dots) Live View/Movie func. set. Your camera is probably set to live view only and not movie.

"You can get to it by cycling with the info button" Well that's simply not true. Info brings up my exposure gauge and them my histogram, and then makes both of those go away.

It wil do that when you are displaying a photo. But when no image is being played back it will cycle through the info pages and to the quick menu, if you have the INFO. button option (in the 3rd yellow menu) set to Normal Disp.

@@rickjbradbury not working for me; are you saying that a still needs to be in playback mode to display quick menu? I get a histogram and other data points but not seeing the easy to read quick menu

Hi Eric, When in play back mode it will cycle through the info overlays including the histograms ( RGB if you have it switched on). When not in playback mode it will cycle through camera settings info ( colour space, WB shift, sleep settings etc) and also will show the quick menu. You can assign the set button to show the quick menu when pressed in the customer function menus C.FnIV:Operations/Others 3 Assign SET Button.
