I’m trying to decide what my next camera is and this one has made the short list. The viewfinder and video are not issues of concern as I only do landscape shots. I’m really drawn to the high resolution sensor and this camera just fits in my budget margins.

90D has the same sensor... and the 90D also uses the more common EF / EF-s mount for lenses which can be adapted to newer R series cameras. Just my opinion - this one is a fail.

If you do ONLY lanscapes I do not think you should consider Apsc. A full frame camera will give you almost twice the field of view, making your wide shots almost twice as wide. Consider a canon eos RP for 999

You would never need the viewfinder and the screen flipped up at the same time. The real issue is that when using a flash gun, you’re forced to compose with the screen. But it’s not that big of a deal in real world use, sounds worse on paper than it really is. Btw, in response to the 90D commenter, the M6ii can also use those same EF lenses via the adapter, as the reviewer recommended buying L glass for this camera during the video. It isn’t limited to native lenses. The camera is awesome all around, especially if you tweak it out with Smallrig/CBG grips and the like for comfort and battery life improvements. You can really turn it into a video beast with all the available cages and accessories available to rig it out. It’s sensor is unparalleled in the APS-C space and it’s very underrated. Being so small is an advantage (gimbal work, etc.) as you can always scale it up with grips when needed, while you can’t make bigger cameras any smaller. Very enjoyable to use, as the video described. I think you’d like it a lot.

I think we've already reached a breakthrough in videomaking access, which leads to a conclusion: some cameras are "made to set" a gimbal perfectly like this one, so they must be lightweight than the "older" DSLRs and this means less onboard itens to carry. Honestly, I'm pretty amazed on how we are resuming this all-in-one complexity systems to a model like grab-and-shoot with no major efforts on portability, size, weight and, incredibly, lowering prices in time.

Why would you think most people would want this camera for video? This is an excellent photography camera and there are a couple of excellent EFM lenses, unlike what you stated in your review. The EFM 32mmand the EFM 22mm pancake lens. You can adopt Sigma or Canon APC lenses. The three Sigma EFM lens are excellent but the Canin 32M is the highest quality native lens. The design issues you mention are easily remedied with a small rig cage. This is not a design flaw. Using the inexpensive small rig cage you can mount a mike on the side and use the viewfinder upright and have a wonderful grip. The one thing is do not use the mediocre Canon 15-45mm lens.

If you prefer better lenses I would recommend using an adapter and using this camera for video! Most people are not willing to ad cages their camera unless they are proffesional or a serious enthusiast. I would recommend grabbing a canon L series lense or the sigma art lenses

The simple addition which makes this camera work very well is the small rig cage. You can use the EV or use a mike or both. There is no rational reason anyone would flip up the view screen and want to use an EV. That is not a design flaw it was a common sense decision. Also the Canon EOS M 32mm is the best lens for the M mount and yes I own the Sigmas. I think your review was rushed.

But you forgot to add that this 4k is upscaled, while in Sony it's downscaled from e.g. 6k. So the quality is not the same, however Canon has lower rolling shutter. Unfortunately every system has its flaws...

I like the design. Photographers will use viewfinder, vloggers use flip screen. I prefer tilting, like M50. But im satisfied with this one and I thinking about getting M6II.

for 1080p i would go m50 as its cheaper and both have great 1080p... if you want 4k go m6mk2, while both shoot 4k, the 4k in the m50 is useless without the DPAF

11-22 and 32 are good native lenses, capable of resolve 32mp sensor, don't underestimate

Canon m50 mark ii, just bought mine on sale for $600 (most are $700). The m50 has a 24 mp sensor with great autofocus. However, it’s lens mount can only support a few canon lenses but that can be fixed with an adapter. I like the m50 because it was built for beginners and is very compact. I would definitely do more research yourself but I suggest watching videos on the canon m50 mark ii.

The 18-150mm is around 4 times more expensive than the 15-45mm. At that price point I rather just keep the kit lens and spend a little more to get a speedbooster and used 24-105 f4 L USM . You lose some range but the sharpness is unbeatable.

I bought the 18-150 in a kit with the body and EFV. I am incredibly impressed with the form factor and image quality, which I think is better than the 15-45. I also use Canon's EF to EF-M adaptor, which gives me excellent performance from my 100-400, 150-600, and 55-250 EF lenses.

@@alatsaf Although there are a number of third party adaptors, I have no experience with them. I use Canon's EOS-EF to EOS-M adaptor, which works flawlessly on my Canon EF and EF-S lenses as well as my Sigma 150-600 and my Tamron 100-400.

Great! I've got a question. What kind of adapter do I have to use for M42 lenses? I tried a number of them. It says "No lens attached". On the flip side with 5D mark iii simplest adapters a piece of metal work no questions asked.

you can go into settings and turn off the setting to release shutter without a lens. That's how I shoot on all of my manual lens. Works flawlessly.

Ahhh im struggling to figure out what camera to get! I need it for both photos and film, good in low light, stabilisation, filming outside in the heat, and filming birds and behind the scenes work for a charity! @@marteung then it should be there. Don't downgrade the firmware. Keep it at firmware version 1.1.1. You should change mode dial to the cinema camera icon which means video mode then go to the wrench menu page 2 in yellow colour. After that change the video system to NTSC. Then go to camera menu page 1 in red colour then you can change the movie record quality to 4K 23.98P. You might have to Disable the video snapshot on the same camera menu page 1 in red colour at the very bottom.

Both M50s have both a flip to the side screen and a EVF built in - and these are the "lower end" canon cameras. It's really confusing having a lower end camera be objectively better in that respect. There is no reason why an expensive camera such as the M6 does not come with a built-in pop-up EVF which many of their competitors have. The clip-on (optional at extra cost) not only is expensive but make the camera look like a Cyclops and totally destroys whatever small size advantage that the camera should have. And poor design on the LCF screen. Should have been made fully articulating.

Canon miss the opportunity to make a good camera, no viewfinder, no articulate screen like M50, and no good battery. Another disaster. Same with Canon R series plus crazy expensive (Camera and lenses). That's why I switch to Sony A7 III. Canon is sleeping on his old Glory. (Sadly)
