At 24mm equivalent, where one will use it for vlogging, it's f/1.8 aperture. This feature alone makes the camera relevant. Everybody is raving about how good the new Sony RX is, but I would prefer 1.5 stops brighter lens. Especially on a fixed lens camera, where you cannot change. And integrated NDs is cool too.
@ryantang81465 жыл бұрын
Momchil Yordanov Canon did everything good with this camera except that it does not have one of the most important things in camera which is the autofocus system, how can Canon have put dual pixel af in? Without it, it is so much more inferior to the Sony. Let’s not forget The Rx series still got the Sony rx100 V and VA which has a bright F1.8 lens with ND filter. That autofocus system will blow the Canon out of the water
@TheHybridShooter5 жыл бұрын
It is Sony sensor, so it can't have dual pixel AF. Sony still has a lot of disadvantages like 2004 style user interface, so it won't be a clean winner even with F1.8-2.8 lens + at that price point, A6400 with a kit lens is RX100 VII A killer.
@momchilyordanov81905 жыл бұрын
@@ryantang8146 The RX V is a camera I've used, actually. It has no touch screen at the back, combined with poor manual controls like all other cameras of this type. It's frustrating to use. The AF in video is good, but without the touchscreen there is no way to select WHAT you want it to focus on. And I don't care if AF is DPAF or not in this camera. I want it to work. Watch the review above. The guy says it's keeping the vlogger's face in focus and transitions without hunting. After testing so many cameras, he can probably tell. And if you want the change the focus, just touch the screen. I know it's a trend to bash Canon cameras, but they always offer at least acceptable performance with one of the best ease of use. I like that combination.

I think for 1inch compact, crazy fast autofocus tracking is not that important, or as important as Sony wants you to believe. If vlogging the focus distance usually doesn't change much also the subject isn't moving at fast pace. If Sony puts VII internal into V body and create VA 2, that will be more interesting.
@TheHybridShooter5 жыл бұрын
I agree with that, although I can't deny that I would really like RX100 VII AF in G7X III. Sony unfortunately still uses 2005 style user interface, which is close to unacceptable and it doesn't seem like they are going to change it, so RX100 VII A probably still won't be perfect.

One common complaint about the previous model is the lack of weather sealing of the retractable lens. Dust seems to be able to find it's way inside the lens body and wind up on every photo or video taken after that. From what you know about the mk3, do you think that Canon has improved on this issue?

Hello... For me as a scuba diver shooting videos underwater it would be interesting to know how it works to set manual white balance in video mode on that G7X III. On the previous Mark II Model you have to take a picture first and then set your white balance according to that picture. So at any change of depth that also comes with a change of light I need to take a picture first and then... Even writing about that takes too much time. So for underwater videography where situations come and go quickly the G7X Mark II was pretty useless. I had the Mark I on which I could set manual WB on the Ring Function Button and with pressing two buttons WB was set again. So easy... Do you know how this works on the Mark III now?
@TheHybridShooter5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if if this is what you are asking, but you can see how the WB changes affect the picture in live view on the screen. You can set the WB setting to * button or to the front ring.

When I bought my Panasonic LX100 years ago I really used it a lot! Since then smartphones have improved so much and with the Huawei P20 Pro and P30 Pro, I hardly felt the need to use the LX100. Also, because it was getting dated and it had some problems. The LX100 Mark II wasn't really much of an improvement. The RX100 VII I don't really like because of the brightness of the lens isn't as good as the Canon's f/1.8-2.8. The Canon also with the ND filter, livestreaming, etc. And of course the much cheaper price! Hopefully the C-AF can be improved over firmware like the case was with Panasonics.
@TheHybridShooter5 жыл бұрын
I would say that the LX100 II is a big improvement over the original LX100. That new sensor and touch screen alone are big improvements. I also went through similar thought process when buying GX7 III, and I am very happy with it so far.
@cinemenico5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, unfortunately there was no vari-angle or pop-up screen, mic-input et cetera. I think the G7 X Mark III adds enough to set itself apart from a smartphone. With the 1" sensor, the bright versatile lens, effective stabilization, ND-filter, pop-up touchscreen, mic-input, no crop 4K, livestreaming, vertical video, etc. Great for traveling when not sure if I want to capture video that day, but atleast I'll have it with me when I do want to capture something!

I have never used RX100 VA, so I unfortunately can't answer that. Canon has much better UI and touch controls which is the main reason why I gave it try as a B/C camera. RX100 VA has much better AF, but I have A7 III with great AF, so it wasn't that big of a deal for me.

You're welcome! I can imagine that it will be a deal breaker for some NTSC region users, leaving out 24p makes no sense. Hi! Can this camera record video after video in 4K and 1080p60 if you have a good sd card for 4K recording let's say (because I know that it can't record continuously until the battery dies like the ZV-1, it stops when it gets to the limit, so you have to record multiple parts for your vlog). Some people said that after every recording (especially in 4K) you have to wait around 25 minutes I think so for the camera to cool down before using it again. You record for 10 min in 4K or 30 min 1080p and then you have to wait around 25 min to start using the camera again every single time (when I am on the go on trips this is really bad because I want to record and take pictures when ever I want, I can't let the family wait for me 25 minutes so that I can continue recording another part for the vlog or take some pictures). Also does it take great videos and pictures in auto mode? I heard that they have implemented a new video blog mode which improves the autofocus. I'm trying to deside if I get a camera in the future for KZbin videos and taking pictures on the trips or in the city what is going to be - G7X Mark III or Sony ZV-1. I record reaction videos, sometimes unboxing videos, gaming and I love to record travel vlogs when I'm travelling with my family and relatives. For travel vlogs I love 4K for everything else 1080p60 is enough. From what I heard this Canon camera has better colors straight from the camera and way better stabilization when walking compared to the ZV-1, plus I am way more in love with a screen that flips up. On the other hand ZV-1 has F1 speed autofocus and no recording limit but the stabilization is not at the level of this Canon, plus the crop. Also there's that awesome DJI Pocket 2 creator combo thing that also records 4K60 and has amazing stabilization. Sorry, I'm not an expert in cameras. :)) Thanks for the help! :)
@TheHybridShooter3 жыл бұрын
If you are deciding between G7X III and ZV-1, definitely get the ZV-1. It is a better camera in literally every way including colors and stabilization. The biggest difference is that autofocus, which is perfect on ZV-1 and unusable on G7X III.

I come from two worlds. I had a pile of great film cameras and lenses. Mostly Contax in both formats. I made a short film noir with a Canon 5D Mark II, pre firmware upgrade. But I loved my Canon Elph 310 HS (called something else in other countries) I've gone through 4 used models in, what maybe 14 years, usually because of lens errors. All got dust on their sensors, and although the video on them with it's 8x optical was not oversharpened, with no hard look like the Fuji 15meg camera had, I took mostly stills, which were simple enough to spot the dust artifacts in post. But now, buying a more expensive (even used) model like this knowing it will eventuallly get dust on the sensor, mostly because of the vacuum formed by the lens being opened, zoomed, and closed, leads me to ask, "Pocket camera". What's in your pocket? Do you, (any reader of this) toss it in a light or heavyweight jacket pocket? Everybody wears pocketless shirts now. So, is it dust getting onto the sensor, or is it lint? Do you put your camera in a plastic zip when you put it in your pocket? Should you? Shouldn't there be a video on youtube about minimizing this problem? By, the way, last year I bought a brand new Elph310 on ebay with a crazy nice hip case with a magnetic closure, costing me 50 bucks, (unheard of, really) but the thing is so pristine I don't use it!! Still bombing around with the other one with dusty sensor and lens blades that never close right.....

Overheating is the big problem right now and maybe in the future for live streaming in 4K. I have heard of guys putting their video capture devices literally on ice to reduce heat. It goes without saying that 4K cameras would run into the same problem. For live streaming stick to 1080p. The image is fine for viewing over the Internet. Now if you want to film you want 24 FPS, which is not offered from this camera. Given a few more years and we will see dramatic improvements such as Sony’s new 61 or is it 62k cameras. Unfortunately the camera industry is suffering because of phone cameras. There still might be a market for better quality cameras buy for the bread and butter shooter phone cameras are all they need. As phone cameras improve, the need for high-end cameras goes away.
@TheHybridShooter5 жыл бұрын
It still lasts longer than similar cameras while recording 4K. I think that the amount of people using it for livestreaming on KZbin is negligible, that feature is barely worth mentioning. Camera industry is definitely not suffering because of the phone cameras and smartphones will never replace professional cameras. It is just misinterpretation caused by the lack of financial and business education among the photojournalists. In fact, the companies are not suffering at all, because of the diversification.

Unbelievable....no 24 fps. This is the reason I no longer am willing to plunk down loads of money on canon products. Every time they release a camera they cripple them with some BS missing component in their software. Heck, they were one of the very last companies to provide 4K video to the consumer - They were selling their $3000+ dslr Mark III with 1080p while Panasonic had their $1400 GH4 or 3 shooting 4K out of the box. I will never buy another Canon product again....and I own a t4i and 6D. They have completely lost me as a customer for life with their crap.

Yeah, that is definitely a mistake from Canon there should definitely be 24p option. This is no "Cine" camera though and mixing 24p and 30p footage is not a problem for modern software, so it won't make that much difference in the end.

I’m a big fan of your channel! Another great review with one caveat; You are saying that the Canon G7X iii is the first 1” sensor compact camera with an external mic input. With the official release date being sometime this month the G7X iii is not yet available for purchase. The Sony RX100 VII utilizes a 1”” sensor as well, has an external microphone Jack and also has a release date that’s also sometime this month. It’s still a race of the premium compacts to claim the crown of having the first external microphone input. Keep up the great work!😀👍
@TheHybridShooter5 жыл бұрын
There is no caveat. I'm not sure why you deleted the comment with the responses, but as I wrote, this is not a pre-release sample, G7 X Mark III is in the hands of customers who paid for it, that is all that matters, so it is definitely the first 1" sensor compact camera with mic input.

The Hybrid Shooter If we do agree that the Canon G7 X Mk III is the first 1” sensor compact with a mic input the fact still remains that it’s a Canon. I love Canon and own a D1 Mk II but for the last couple of years Canon has fallen from the lofty position that they used to hold as one of the top camera brands in terms of quality and innovation. An ethereal gulf now exists between Canon and other top manufacturers. We can only hope that they release the rumored 85mp full frame Body. If they don’t release something like that very soon it’s evident that there’s an opioid epidemic amongst the Canon top brass.
@TheHybridShooter5 жыл бұрын
It is Canon, but as I have said in the video, I think that it is the most competitive Canon since the 5D Mark III. Thanks to that Sony sensor. Canon doesn't need 85 megapixel camera, they need 24-36 megapixel camera with good IBIS, no crop 4K, and dual SD cards.
@Zapruderfilm19635 жыл бұрын
The Hybrid Shooter I agree on the lower Mp count but as you and I have seen there seems to be a new megapixel war happening with Sony with full frame and fujifilm with medium format. Canon should have IBIS as you have said. I believe a sweet spot between 24 and 36mp would perfect. With that being said if Canon doesn’t release a full frame camera body with a crazy megapixel amount I’m afraid many in the photography community will perceive this as weakness. 😕
